I wrote here about the fact that many “mainstream” organizations were silent in the face of the Gazans’ genocidal attack on Israel. I highlighted in particular the silence of the Evangelical Lutheran Church In America, the denomination to which I belonged for nearly all my life. That silence, unfortunately, didn’t last. Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton eventually produced a statement that is stunning in its moral perversity: (snip) "At the same time the ELCA denounces the indiscriminate retaliation of Israel against the Palestinian people, both Christian and Muslim." So the two sides are on a par. But it gets worse:

I have no words for the Bishop other than I pray she or her family never find themselves in a situation where they need to defend themselves. She obviously has no concept of true evil and needs to find another job.

The fact that the ELCA has a woman bishop tells you that they have long since aligned themselves against the Christian faith and all of Judeo-Christian tradition. So siding with the Philistines against David is no surprise.

The high level organizations of many religious organizations such as Lutherans, Presbyterians, ... are hopelessly perverted away from their religious roots, they have become secular, socialist groups. Many of the local churches are blind to the high level organization's corruption but many are in lockstep. Our society is crumbling and the foundation it has been built on has faded away.

The Muslims only want two things, and two things only. #1 Kill all the Jews, everywhere. #2 to occupy Israel. They've tried over and over: the Egyptians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians, sending troops & tanks; countless terrorist tunnels dug beneath Gaza -its amazing that tall building can even stand, given how honeycombed in excavated tunnels the land beneath is. One side will have to annihilate the other, OR, the Arabs can just abandon Islam for the stone-age political ideology it really is.

In response to the statements of Luther and the German state church’s complicity with the Third Reich, modern Lutherans have bent over backwards to reject anti-semitism through statements, dialogue, and interfaith cooperation. Now this woman, with a single tone-deaf statement, throws all that away just to sound politically correct. So glad to belong to a Lutheran denomination that doesn’t have bishops or their equivalents…period.

#3, kind of a reckless statement to make because when research is done, you will find that Martin Luther was angrily frustrated with them not converting to Christianity. It doesn't mean he hated them especially when you read one of Luther's last statements. I can understand his (righteous?) frustration and anger - I am right there when I see Democrats working hard at taking God out of society.

#3~ No, Martin Luther did not hate Jews. Martin Luther was exasperated with them because of their “unbelief” (as were the Jewish prophets, Isaiah and Jeremiah); his opposition was “based on God’s judgment against rejection of his Word.” Unfortunately, he used harsh language but “Roman writers attacked him even more sharply.” It has been written that it is not possible to defend Martin Luther’s “tone and many of the specifics of Luther’s denunciation of the Jews, but it is unfair to misrepresent them by detaching them from their context and times.” Martin Luther had “several baptized Jews as friends and correspondents—his complaint was not against the Jewish bloodline but against medieval Jewish religion.” His “Concerning the Jews” was the result of two main factors: “1) a simmering disappointment with the rabbis’ failure to recognize Jesus as Messiah, and 2) a desire to avoid divine punishment for failing to speak out against rumored Jewish blasphemies concerning Jesus and Mary.” Like all mortals, Martin Luther was a flawed man but a deeply gifted man and came to regret his harsh rhetoric against the Jews. As St. Augustine wrote about Platonism, “separate these truths from their unfortunate associations, take them, away, and put them to their proper use for the proclamation of the gospel.” Martin Luther’s good words “help proclaim Christ crucified and risen.” It has been written that “...any failure of ours to proclaim the gospel of justification by faith alone to the Jewish people of our time is a form of religious anti-Semitism as inherently evil as the philosophy of the Nazis.” #7~ Thank you. Concur with comments and grateful as well for belonging “to a Lutheran denomination that doesn’t have bishops or their equivalents...period.” #8~ Thank you. Sincerely appreciated. Lastly, his household of lifelong Lutherans left the ELCA around 1997 when it became clear the ELCA was straying from the doctrine and authority of Scripture; continued not only the ordination of women, but homosexuals as well—the latter, not in condemnation of them as children of God, but in deference to and reverence for what is written in Scripture, that homosexuality is an abomination to God and inappropriate to become members of the clergy; and, disagreement about ELCA fellowship with other denominations that differ in the mode of Christ’s presence in Holy Communion. Having become members of the LCMS where the doctrine and authority of Scripture is upheld and revered is a treasured blessing. It is sincerely hoped that Mr. and Mrs. Hinderaker remain Lutherans and have found a Lutheran synod that will be a blessing to them as it has been to this family.

Luther’s strong feelings around the Jews was based on him being angry that they killed his precious Lord! ELCA is so far apart from the real church it is hard to find genuine believers! They are pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, and questioning of everything from the true Divinity of Christ, doubting miracles, and struggling with God as a masculine figure!

I was a member of an ELCA church for nearly 20 years that had a long-standing pastor. who pretty much ignored ELCA dictates and preached the Gospel. When he left our church had about 500 members. The selection committee then went through candidates the ELCA submitted before selecting one who quickly showed himself to be more committed to being woke than to our spiritual needs. When, six months into his leadership, of our church, he issued a diatribe against J6 and the domestic terrorists that supported the "insurrection" I left. I wasn't alone, four/fifths of my fellow members left, if not more, for a variety of reasons.

Officers were called about a person lying on the ground unresponsive and when they arrived at the scene, they found a “trail of blood” leading them to Woll’s home, according to a statement from the Detroit Police Department.

Before epilepsy was understood to be a neurological condition, people believed it was caused by the moon, or by phlegm in the brain. They condemned seizures as evidence of witchcraft or demonic possession, and killed or castrated sufferers to prevent them from passing tainted blood to a new generation. Today we know epilepsy is a disease. By and large, it’s accepted that a person who causes a fatal traffic accident while in the grip of a seizure should not be charged with murder. That’s good, says Stanford University neurobiologist Robert Sapolsky. That’s progress. But there’s still a long way to go.
