Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced a measure against McCarthy known as a motion to vacate on Monday night, accusing him of breaking promises he made to win the speaker's gavel in January. Eleven Republicans joined all Democrats in voting against killing that measure on Tuesday afternoon. They are: Gaetz, Reps. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., Matt Rosendale, R-Mont., Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., Nancy Mace, R-S.C., Ken Buck, R-Colo., Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, Eli Crane, R-Ariz., Cory Mills, R-Fla., Bob Good, R-Va., and Tim Burchett, R-Tenn.

Comments:

It looks like Kevin McCarthy is about to be removed as Speaker of the House. The vote will happen live at about 4pm Eastern. I am staying hopeful that a better GOP Speaker candidate will be chosen, and soon. We deserve one.

The Democrats, as usual, are united. I'm afraid that they will figure out a way to get Jeffries as Speaker. Then kiss the whole impeachment inquiry good-bye.

The Rino's want to give in again--just one more time, until the next time. Like there is no one that could possibly replace McCarthy? Is that true? Oh, but the House will descend into chaos, always worried about themselves, but never about the country, which has already descended into a chaotic communist police state. No, McCarthy needs to go. Get someone that is not from a blue state, and that does not govern by uniting with the Democrats.

The wimpy House Republicans will not be happy until there is a leftist and socialist Democrat speaker who will tell them to sit in their chairs, shut up, and support leftist and socialist Democrat legislation that will be called unity!

As usual, Gaetz and his tiny band grab media attention and, as usual, don't even have a plan for who should be speaker. Not even OP has a recommendation. (No, Jim Jordan doesn't want the job.) Andy Biggs? Forgetaboutit. No one comes to mind. Meanwhile Hakeem hangs out in the weeds, grinninhg and salivating.

We saw Kevin McCarthy make some major promises... and then break them. It is a mess, removing him with no successor lined up, but we need a do-over. Somebody will step forward and hopefully they will be a better GOP consensus builder.

Electing a Speaker from California was a terrible mistake. I believe most democrats knew that from the beginning, the fact is not one Republican really wants the job, they are all too chicken stuff to want it.

Democrats have to be laughing their *** off at how stupid the Republicans are. Principle is one thing if you've been operating under General Order instead of these Continuing Resolutions which have no room for "using the power of the purse".

Gee, looks like conservative Rebublicans are all in on diversity. See how diverse they can be with Democrats! Power is in unity. One is greater than dysfunctional many. It took less than 2 years for Rebublicans to prove they can't goobern. Ill say this, I have seen monkey feces fights at the zoo more organized than the Rebublicans in the House.

it took 15 voting sessions to "elect" him and only 1 to eject him, how much trust does anyone think the repubs really had in mccarthy, he was doomed from day 1 for Madame Guillotine and it happened, so now he's Representative McCarthy moral of this melodrama is: do what you said you were gonna do, when you say you're gonna do it - this game of trying to "get along" with the demcommies is outlandishly a foolish delusion on mccarthy's part, the demcommies don't play like that and it's been proven over and over again, with them you do as "they" say or else you are persona non grata

As his first act as Acting Speaker, Rep. Patrick McHenry ordered Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol hideaway office by Wednesday. Rep. Patrick McHenry (NC) was appointed as Acting Speaker after McCarthy was ousted. McCarthy chose McHenry as Speaker Pro Tempore earlier this year and he now has all the powers of a House Speaker. McHenry ordered former Speaker Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol hideaway office pronto! Pelosi lashed out at McHenry and said his ruthless move to evict her from her hideaway office is “a sharp departure from tradition.” The best part about this ruthless move by McHenry is that Pelosi isn’t even in Washington DC right now.

Eight Republicans voted with every present Democrat to vacate the speaker's chair. The final vote was 216 to 210 in favor of McCarthy's ouster. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced a measure against McCarthy known as a motion to vacate on Monday night, accusing him of breaking promises he made to win the speaker's gavel in January.

The implementation of vaccine mandates at one of the largest institutions in the red state of Texas has raised concerns over the diminishing state of health freedom while a law that would provide Texans with vaccine choice remains stalled by lawmakers. The Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), a medical school and research center in Houston, Texas, announced last week that it will mandate the latest COVID booster shot for its students, faculty, and employees. “An updated Covid vaccine has been approved by the FDA and is now available," the Sept. 28 statement from the school reads.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Tuesday called on House Republicans to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and defeat his motion to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) from his post.[Snip]Gingrich added that Gaetz was in violation of a House Republican Conference rule that says a motion to vacate “should only be available with the agreement of the Republican Conference so as to not allow Democrats to choose the Speaker.” Gingrich argues that an agreement made when McCarthy became Speaker to allow any member to advance a motion to vacate did not supersede the conference rules.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) successfully led a coup against now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday. He managed to eke out a “win” by rallying the entire Democrat caucus and eight Republicans to oust him. It’s the first time that has happened in U.S. history. And it’s a total clown show. Not only does it distract from the already tense budget negotiations, but it makes a laughingstock of the GOP—and the U.S.—and gives Democrats even more leverage to push through their radical policies. Gaetz got a win, but at what cost? Sure, he’ll raise a lot of campaign money from this—he’s already sending out emails and asking for money on Fox News

An at-times annoyed, downcast, and even humorous Kevin McCarthy took to the podium Tuesday evening to hold a nearly hour-long press conference discussing his ouster from the House Speakership position, an effort spearheaded by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). McCarthy lit into his colleague from Florida, indicated that he would not run for the speakership again, said the eight Republicans who voted against were not real conservatives, and even hinted he might resign from office altogether. Watch: Despite the extreme setback, McCarthy remained optimistic: 'I will not run for speaker again,' McCarthy said in a nearly hour-long press conference that veered from combative to laugh filled. 'I may have lost the vote today.

Conservative author and talk radio host Mark Levin slammed Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) over his bid to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), saying McCarthy is “more conservative than” Gaetz. Gaetz filed a motion to vacate the chair on Monday, marking the first official step in an attempt to remove McCarthy from his speakership. As Breitbart News reported: The House must vote within two legislative days on the motion itself or on a separate motion to table or dispense with it. Gaetz has threatened to bring the motion for weeks if McCarthy brought a stopgap spending bill to the floor that required Democrats to pass, as McCarthy did Saturday after Republican holdouts blocked

"And I'm deeply disappointed that a handful of Republicans would partner with all the Democrats in the House of Representatives to oust the speaker of the House. But I expect before the week is out, there'll be more votes on who will be elected speaker of the House."

A 'sensitive but unclassified' version of what is believed to be a possibly long-term U.S. plan for Ukraine outlines various measures the U.S. is taking to assist Kyiv in combatting corruption. The feat is that growing criticism of corruption could ultimately lead Western allies to withdraw their support for Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion.
