Dave Portnoy has been back in the headlines, and it's for one of the stupidest reasons imaginable. Apparently, holding a pizza festival in New York is a huge scandal. That led The Washington Post to put two reporters on a proposed hit piece.
The goal was to pressure pizza shops that were participating to back out by accusing them of supporting sexual misconduct. The fun began when Portnoy caught wind of the coming smear job, though. He called one of the reporters and confronted her, catching her in a lie.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) launched a savage attack on a federal judge on social media Friday evening, calling U.S. Judge Roger T. Benitez “an extremist, right-wing zealot with no regard to [sic] human life.”
Newsom’s post was a reaction to Judge Benitez’s ruling Friday that California’s limit on high-capacity magazines violates the Second Amendment — the second time Benitez has ruled against the ban since a partial stay in 2019.
Benitez, who was born in Cuba, serves in the Southern District of California and was nominated by George W. Bush.
The Los Angeles Times reported:

While announcing the launch of the executive Office of Gun Violence Prevention, President Joe Biden pledged to use the office to “centralize, accelerate, and intensify” his administration’s gun control push.
Biden noted that he has chosen Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee the office.
A report by the Washington Post makes clear coordination in the office is expected between the “White House, the Community Justice Action Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety.”
After Biden announced the launch of the new office on Friday, he then called for an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, and universal background checks. He also called for Congress to take action for more gun restrictions

A federal judge yet again declared California's ban on gun magazines unconstitutional Friday.
The ban was first instituted in a 2000 measure signed into law by then-Gov. Gray Davis, a Democrat, and prohibited state residents from buying or selling magazines that hold 10 or more rounds. U.S. District Judge Roger T. Benitez struck it down after previously striking it in 2019. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Benitez's ruling in 2021, arguing that the ban fell in line with the state's efforts to reduce gun violence and is compatible with the Second Amendment. Then, the Supreme Court vacated the appeals court ruling and ordered new proceedings consistent

President Biden complimented the merits of the "Congressional Black Caucus" during a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Thursday, his third public speaking gaffe in just two days. Biden, 80, made the mishap during a speech at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 46th Annual Gala in Washington, D.C., as he celebrated gala award recipient Sister Norma Pimental, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley.
He said: "I know Sister Norma lives the lessons nuns taught me growing up. Lessons based on the Gospel of Matthew: feed the hungry, care for the sick, welcome strangers. They echo what my dad taught me, and I mean this sincerely,

The indictment charges Menendez, 69, and his wife with having a corrupt relationship with three New Jersey businessmen -- Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daides. The indictment accuses Menendez and his wife of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribes

An early read of a New Hampshire rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump gives the incumbent president the advantage, amid signs that anger toward Trump could outweigh dampened enthusiasm for another Biden term, according to a new CNN/University of New Hampshire poll.
About 6 in 10 New Hampshire residents, 62%, say they would be dissatisfied or worse if Trump retook the presidency – with most, 56%, expressing outright anger at the prospect. A 56% majority say they’d be dissatisfied or worse if Biden won reelection, but fewer, 38%, say they’d be angry. About one-fifth say they’d be less than satisfied with either scenario.

A large anti-grooming protest is sweeping across Canada as demonstrators speak out against transgender propaganda and gender identity ideology being taught to children in schools.
“I am watching videos from across Canada. Amazing and inspiring,” prominent feminist Meghan Murphy wrote on X, along with the hashtag, “#1MillionMarch4Chidren.” Murphy explained that tens of thousands of Canadians are saying “no” to gender ideology being taught in schools, telling trans activists to “leave the kids alone,” as they peacefully protest in Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, among other cities.
“The sheer number of people here is unreal. We will get police counts soon, but it’s gotta be close to 10,000 in Ottawa alone,”

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “OutFront,” Eagle Pass, TX Mayor Rolando Salinas stated that while federal agencies like the Border Patrol are controlling the situation along the border the best that they can, “I haven’t heard from anybody in the administration” and the city is “abandoned.” Salinas also said in another interview that state officials, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) “have been helpful to Eagle Pass by sending in additional help.”
Salinas said, “Fortunately, we have the help of our state partners, DPS, the governor, our federal agencies, Border Patrol. They’re helping, and they’re controlling the situation as best as they can.”

Joe Biden had a rare late night on Thursday, appearing at the 46th Annual Gala for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
As he began to speak, it was immediately obvious why the president rarely does evening events. He continually screwed up his own "MAGA Republican" insult, calling them "mega" Republicans instead. It wasn't his senility that was noteworthy, though. Rather, it was a series of insane claims he made.
Let's start with this one on the deficit because it's maybe the mildest one. Yes, I've got another example coming that is simply mindblowing, but patience is a virtue. Biden bragging about reducing the deficit is like a gambling addict

Joe Biden had some very bad moments on Wednesday when he almost knocked over the Brazilian flag and seemed to anger President Lula da Silva when he exited the stage without shaking his hand, and just left him standing there.
Then Biden seemed to get even worse in the evening at a campaign fundraiser, he reportedly repeated the same story after having already said it, almost word for word. Not exactly a confidence booster when they're trying to appeal to these people for money.
On Thursday, Biden continued to have problems during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where Biden again appeared to be slurring his words,

House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) turned down Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to publicly address both chambers of Congress during the Ukrainian president’s visit to Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
“Zelensky asked for a joint session, we just didn’t have time. He’s already given a joint session,” McCarthy told reporters, referring to the congressional joint session Zelensky gave in December. “This is a little busy week. We’re dealing with the funding issue. I don’t know he we can slip that in at such a short time.”
Zelensky’s visit comes at a stressful time for Congress
