There’s more potentially exciting news for all of you science geeks out there this week, coming to us from NASA. And the latest revelations were once again brought to us by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), as it peers deeper into the universe with greater clarity than we’ve ever had before. This time they have locked in on a cool dwarf star (that’s “cool” as in lower temperature than our sun, though it’s the other kind of “cool” also) in the constellation Leo roughly 120 light years from Earth with the unsexy name K2-18. Orbiting that star is a planet

"And now they have discovered carbon dioxide and methane in its atmosphere. …it could definitely be a signature of life". I thought we we were trying to eliminate carbon dioxide and methane from our atmosphere to prevent climate change. Huh?

The most "Earth-like" planet ever discovered is almost exactly the same size and mass as Earth and orbits a yellow dwarf star at relatively close to the same orbit. It is called "Venus" and up close it is not very Earth-like. I suspect that most "Earth-like" exoplanets are far more Venus-like or Mars-like.

And it will take more than a lifetime to get there.

What difference does this ever make? No one on earth would be alive to hear the electronically communicated report-back from a "probe" sent to explore the planet, assuming it could even survive the journey, or still be functioning, or know its mission after memory damage from gamma radiation. Space is incredibly destructive environment, but we live on a miraculous planet with built-in protections by Almighty God, who restored the earth for us to reside in while deciding the Angelic Conflict (an appeal trial actually), between the "fallen," and God. In complete seriousness I can say that there are NO "lifeforms" on any other planet in the entirety of space. Reason being, there is no reason for there to be any.

So what? The fact is, there's more life and WATER under the ocean. Enough space to take in the entire world population.

Whether you believe in God or not it appears that it may just be the case that the only place in the universe that life of any kind exists is The Earth. We are alone. And we are special.

Neat. Can someone send Nancy on the next flight there? Space-X probably already has a team identifying viable launch windows.

Quick, set up travel restrictions that prevent liberals from gaining a seat on available ships. Maybe we have a chance of creating a red planet that is really red. Oh, and we need to determine if all of that wormhole, FTL and Quantum theory science-fiction stuff is real, or the first ships to arrive there will contain nothing but dust.

At 25,000 mph (about what we can go in space), it would take roughly 3.2 million years to get there.
But the government has evidence that little green men smart enough to get here from there were too stupid to keep from crashing once they arrived..

Equating the presence of water, methane and carbon dioxide with a high probability of life is about the same thing as finding a chunk of iron in the desert, then expecting to find a spontaneously generated Maserati.

Can we somehow attach booster rockets to the Whitehouse. I’m sure there’d be plenty of donors if money’s an issue.
