Economic success must have a price and a global tax on carbon emissions can help redress Africa’s chronically low Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rates, Kenya’s President William Ruto declared Tuesday as the first Africa Climate Summit began.
He pointed to “climate change” driven by successful, dynamic economies in Europe, North America and Asia, as a drain on Africa’s economic progress and it’s time to have a global conversation about a carbon tax on the world’s richest nations.
“Those who produce the garbage refuse to pay their bills,” Ruto said, according to AP, echoing others who have also called for carbon tax impositions

Connecticut’s law enforcement has been rocked by a potential scandal involving how its officers have been reporting traffic stops. An audit exposed a troubling pattern of state troopers manipulating records to make themselves appear to be more productive.

The report reveals that at least 100 officers were fabricating traffic reports to boost their numbers. The revelation has raised questions about the credibility of officers tasked with upholding the law and has led some to question whether they can be trusted to handle more serious criminal cases. A recent audit described “a pattern of record manipulation”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has suggested deporting migrants from Eritrea who rioted last week in Tel Aviv in a sectarian dispute over the African country’s own internal conflicts.
Though some of the migrants claim they are seeking “asylum” in Israel, many Israelis believe they are in the country illegally without legitimate claims of asylum.
The Times of Israel reported:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced Saturday night that he and a team of ministers would look into the possibility of deporting Eritrean migrants who behaved violently during the day’s intense rioting in Tel Aviv.

In the wake of Hurricane Idalia’s landfall in Florida’s Big Bend near Keaton Beach on Wednesday, a local fire and rescue department has warned owners of electric-powered vehicles — including golf carts and scooters — that exposure to salt water can cause the vehicles’ batteries to catch fire.
Palm Harbor Fire Rescue on Florida’s Gulf Coast issued the warning on Facebook Wednesday afternoon, telling owners to move their battery-powered vehicles out of their garages if they had come in contact with salt water, to prevent the fire spreading to the structure.
The warning was apparently triggered by a fire in a Tesla Wednesday in nearby Dunedin,

Former registered nurse Terry Poland shared the message she received from the employer that booted her.
“You were once a proud member of the MaineGeneral team. Would you consider rejoining us? We would be pleased to discuss options with you,” the facility told her in a text, per The Maine Wire.

In recent years, auto thefts and carjackings have become ordinary events in the streets of Chicago, often occurring in the middle of the day and sometimes being live-streamed on social media as they occur.
Last year, Chicago reported more than 21,000 vehicle thefts. In 2021, the number was “only” 14,000.
Unfortunately, things are getting much worse. As of this writing, Chicago has experienced more than 20,000 vehicle thefts, with nearly four months before the year ends.
But worry not, my fellow Chicagoans, Mayor Brandon Johnson has a plan that is sure to solve the problem: He is suing two automakers, Kia and Hyundai,

A Colorado middle schooler was reportedly kicked out of class for having several patches on his backpack, including one of a Gadsden flag — sparking a social media uproar.
The 12-year-old student at the Vanguard School was ordered to remove the patch of the flag — which features a coiled rattlesnake and the phrase “Don’t tread on me” on a yellow background — before he was allowed to return to class, according to footage of a meeting between the child’s mother and an administrator posted to X, formerly Twitter.
The administrator at the public charter school tells the boy’s mom that he cannot display the patch

The Canadian teacher who sparked controversy after photos showed her in class wearing Z-size prosthetic breasts last year has landed a new teaching gig — prompting the school to enact additional security measures for safety.
Parents of high schoolers at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario, have been warned by the school’s principal there may be “protests” and “disruptions” over Kayla Lemieux’s hiring, in a memo obtained by the Toronto Sun.
“We are writing to you today because we anticipate the school your child is attending this year, Nora Frances Henderson, may receive some level of public attention, and we want to communicate what this means for you

Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida's surgeon general, recommended this week people should not obey mask mandates and COVID-related lockdowns due to them not working to prevent the spread of the virus while having disastrous repercussions.
"What do you call re-imposing mask policies that have been proven ineffective or restarting lockdowns that are known to cause harm? You don't call it sanity. These terrible policies only work with your cooperation. How about refusing to participate…" Ladapo posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a new job assistance program to benefit the illegal aliens who have descended on the state at a time when 380,000 of her own citizens are out of work.
The Democrat-controlled sanctuary state has been the nation’s top beneficiary of President Joe Biden’s open-border immigration policies, with the majority of the tens of thousands of new arrivals who have mostly settled in New York City, overwhelming the local government’s ability to house them.
Hochul, who is pleading with the Biden administration to speed up the process of providing migrant work permits, rolled out the Empire State’s own jobs program,

Conspiracy theories continue to circulate around the drowning death of the Obamas’ personal chef Tafari Campbell, due to what one media outlet is calling a “cover-up” by the Massachusetts police.
“Police in Massachusetts are continuing to cover up information about the death of Obama personal chef Tafari Campbell even after declaring the case closed this week,” DailyMail.com reports.
Of particular interest to online sleuths is the unnamed female companion that was reportedly with Campbell, a seemingly strong swimmer, when he drowned in shallow water while paddle boarding near Barack Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard summer home.
