Rome—Pope Francis has blasted the “backwardness” of some conservatives in the U.S. Catholic Church, saying they have replaced faith with ideology and that a correct understanding of Catholic doctrine allows for change over time.
Francis’ comments were an acknowledgment of the divisions in the U.S. Catholic Church, which has been split between progressives and conservatives who long found support in the doctrinaire papacies of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, particularly on issues of abortion and same-sex marriage.
Many conservatives have blasted Francis’ emphasis instead on social justice issues such as the environment and the poor, while also branding as heretical his opening to letting divorced and civilly remarried

Ah, the sheer irony! Every pope from Benedict back to St. Peter could rightfully accuse Francis of replacing faith with ideology.

Wife told me that Father Ron was peeved yesterday. Angry at low attendance and the half hearted Catholics nowadays.
Pope anti-Christ here opened his yam and validated my decision to not join the Mrs. yesterday.
Father Ron, as Pope BENEDICT will tell you, stolen elections have consequences. And elections when there is an actual Catholic pope being replaced by this demon we have now also have consequences.

Romans 12:2 (NIV) "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Sounds like Francis is saying we need to conform to the world.

Really? So, pretty much anything goes if enough time has passed?

Since I know the Pope is not the Church, it's worth reciting a comforting poem written by St. Teresa of Avila whenever I feel anxious about what's happening in the world or in my own personal sphere:
Let nothing disturb you
Let nothing frighten you
All things are passing away
God never changes
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing
God alone suffices

I don’t see this pope as a religious leader. He’s just another flaming liberal who believes if it comes out of his mouth it must be true. He knows nothing about conservatism.

The pope is the one who is bowing to every single ideology in recent times. It isn’t faithful Catholics who are the problem. If Frank wants to see the real problem, he should find a mirror.

FTA:

Maybe this is partly where he's getting his thoughts:
The Second Millennium: The Catholic Sacrament. Changes in the theological understanding of marriage came about because of social and historical changes, and the development of new religious ideas over centuries. Whereas in the first millennium the emphasis was on spiritual foundations, now it moved to juridical categories of contract and indissolubility. In the beginning, marriage had been seen as secular but was related to the ecclesial community by virtue of Christian dignity. Later, marriage was seen as religious, made holy in a sacred place, and was related to civil society by virtue of a canonical form.

The question put to Big P by a priest was: gee, i spent a year in the US and the bishops don’t think you’re a good pope and i really suffered a lot from being around that type of thought.
How the modern priests do suffer for their faith!!
Big P’s reply was logically incoherent and morally repugnant. Assuming this reporter didn’t doctor the transcript, Big P essentially said that there is a proper way to think and that if you don’t agree with his way of thinking you are backward
FTA : “I want to remind these people that backwardness is useless, and they must understand that there’s a correct evolution in the understanding of questions of faith and morals,” that allows for doctrine to progress and consolidate over time.”
His Immaculatitily has spoken.

I am not a Catholic. But was educated by Jesuits. From what I understand of the Doctrine, if you permit or 'go wobbly' on abortion, homosexuality, divorce and remarriage, Catholicism if finished.

It is the Pope who has confused his faith with his Communist Ideology.
He should stick to faith. His ideology of Communism doesn't work and he is losing the Faithful.

Interesting observation, Francis. But you seem to think your fellow lefties haven't replaced faith with ideology? If they aren't all in on ideology, then what are they all in with, Francis? The mark of the beast, by chance?

When you have a Communist-driven pope that the atheist lie-berals love but the faithful Catholics in the pews can't stand, that tells you that the cardinals made a huge mistake!!!!!!
Hopefully they will get the chance soon to rectify that mistake!!!!!

I watched a pretty bad movie the other day called The Pope’s Exorcist with Russell Crowe. The movie dives into the idea of evil and how the modern Catholic Church has replaced the notion of good and evil with moral relevancy. Russell Crowe’s character (the exorcist, based on a real-life exorcist) asks, “If there is no evil in the world, what do the people need the Church for?”

The usual Communist projection. The Pope follows Marxist ideology, while the real Catholics follow the Bible and the teachings of Jesus.

The obnoxious left wing Pope speaks. Adhering to a more than a thousand years of Church teaching has now become ideology. Typical liberal, accuse your opposition of what they accuse you and label them insultingly. Shame on you Francis.
