In the Democrat tradition of never letting a crisis go to waste, Oprah Winfrey demonstrated her lack of understanding of the Aloha spirit.
In Maui, she showed up at the War Memorial Stadium, an open-air structure now housing 1,000 refugees from the Lahaina fire, and passed out pillows, diapers, and other items she purchased from Costco and Walmart.
That was good.
What was not good was when she returned three days later with a CBS camera crew and wanted to tape the grief. To her surprise, she was turned away. Local camera crews were sitting outside the stadium, unable to go in,

The Georgia indictment relates to Donald Trump’s (and 18 other defendants’) post-election efforts to reverse the apparent result of the 2020 election, in Georgia and elsewhere. That Trump made such attempts is not disputed. The question is, what did he do that was illegal?
The indictment alleges a vast conspiracy, supported by 161 “overt acts,” that ultimately comprises Count I, a violation of Georgia’s RICO statute. The problem is that, with two exceptions, the “overt acts” are all legal. You can’t aggregate a series of legal acts and make them a crime by calling them a conspiracy.

“Democracy Dies in Darkness” is the (sometimes ironic) slogan of The Washington Post.
But it’s also a fair description of what’s happening in Tennessee, as the state Legislature is being called to a special session even as local and federal officials withhold information that might be critical to its decision-making. Gov. Bill Lee ordered the special session to begin Aug. 21 in response to a March 27 mass shooting in which three adults and three children at the Covenant School, a Christian school in Nashville’s Green Hills neighborhood, were killed.
The Nashville Tennessean article refers only to “a shooter.”
The shooter was a female-to-male transgender shooter named Audrey Hale, aged 28

The former legal counsel for Al Gore who challenged – and lost – the presidential election results in 2000 says Gore's team did "the same thing" as what a Georgia prosecutor is claiming Trump committed as a crime.
Donald Trump is facing a fourth indictment, this time from Fulton County, Georgia district attorney Fani Willis, involving allegations that Trump sought to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.
Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, speaking to Fox News Digital, criticized the pending indictment, calling Trump’s actions "very similar" to that of Al Gore’s legal strategy in the Bush v. Gore case that decided the 2000 presidential election.

WASHINGTON— A legal showdown over the derailed plea deal for Hunter Biden continued Tuesday as prosecutors asserted that an agreement on a gun charge is dead along with the rest of the deal as the case makes a major shift into a special counsel investigation.
While the agreement that was supposed to have wrapped up the long-running investigation of President Joe Biden’s son largely unraveled during a contentious court hearing last month, prosecutors said the two sides had continued to negotiate until the defense rejected their final counterproposal the day before U.S. Attorney David Weiss asked to be named special counsel.

This latest explanation is so incredulous it’s almost impossible to believe they are making this public:(image)According to the story above, the original indictment before the jury met, was a trial run upload, made of a totally fictious construct, with totally random charges, that just happened to line up with the exact same charges, in the exact same sequence, as the indictment after the jury voted.

But are they underway? According to the Wall Street Journal, “State and federal aid is trickling into the region in the wake of the deadliest U.S. wildfire event in over 100 years.” So after a full week, aid is just “trickling in” from FEMA to deal with the destruction of most of the Western part of Maui?

Days later, the Michigan Secretary of State confirmed that indeed this event did take place, adding a little different spin -- the system caught this fraud before it impacted an election. President Biden and former President Donald Trump are now in a legal death match, where, for either one to stay out of prison, his opponent will probably go to prison.
The Biden Democrats have made no secret that they are willing to do almost anything to put Mr. Trump behind bars. The necessity of locking up Mr. Trump for Mr. Biden and his family to remain free has become even more acute given the added evidence of wrongdoing by the Biden family.
Mr. Biden has to be reelected to be certain that no member of his family, including himself, is convicted of any felony with prison time or, if convicted, pardoned.

This case, in which several Asian-American students sued the university for racial discrimination, ended with the court ruling for the plaintiffs and banning race-based preferences in college admissions.
Already people have had time to argue every question under the sun — is what happened good or bad? More important than most people think, or less important? How aggressively will lower courts enforce it? And so forth.

Two weeks after President Joe Biden acknowledged the existence of his seventh grandchild, he admitted that the Inflation Reduction Act was false advertising – both of which everybody knew already. Fresh signs of dementia? Perhaps. But it leads us to wonder what else will Biden confess. We have some suggestions.
Until a few weeks ago, Biden kept insisting that he had only six grandchildren, four of them granddaughters. In fact, he seemed to delight in pointing this out.
At a take-your-child-to-work day event this April, one of the kids asked Biden how many people lived in the White House, to which he answered by saying, apropos of nothing,

Joe Biden’s campaign manager was supposed to appear on MSNBC a few days ago and reportedly backed out because the campaign was worried about having to answer questions about the growing scandals around Joe’s son Hunter.
In other words, the Biden campaign can’t stand up to scrutiny from the most left wing cable news network on TV.
This just goes to show that even the Biden campaign knows how vulnerable Joe is on this issue. The Hunter controversy has the potential to do real damage to Biden in 2024.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at a briefing Monday that there was “zero evidence” that President Joe Biden had “discussed,” or was “involved with,” his son Hunter’s business dealings, now under scrutiny by a special counsel.
Jean-Pierre answered questions from reporters on her first briefing in several weeks, and the first since Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware, who was already investigating Hunter Biden, as the special counsel. While avoiding specifics, she said: “They [Republicans] keep turning up documents and witnesses showing the president wasn’t involved, never discussed

Donald Trump has now been indicted in a fourth case, with the former president being charged Monday in Georgia over his efforts to overturn his 2020 general election defeat in the state.
The probe by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis began shortly after the release of a recording of a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which the then-president suggested that Raffensperger could "find 11,780 votes" - just enough to overtake Joe Biden.

Lawyers for former President Donald Trump responded after midnight Tuesday morning to the late-night indictment in Fulton County, Georgia, by District Attorney Fani Willis, calling it “as flawed and unconstitutional as this entire process.”
Their full statement — issued by Drew Findling, Jennifer Little and Marissa Goldberg — follows:
The events that have unfolded today have been shocking and absurd, starting with the leak of a presumed and premature indictment before the witnesses had testified or the grand jurors had deliberated and ending with the District Attorney being unable to offer any explanation. In light of this major fumble, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office clearly decided

Indictments were returned by a Fulton County, Georgia grand jury Monday evening, against Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, former North Carolina Sen. Mark Meadows, and John Eastman. The 41-count indictment includes charges of racketeering, solicitation of violation of an oath by a public officer, conspiracy, and filing a false statement. Others indicted are Kenneth Chesebro, Jeffrey Clark, Ray Smith III, Robert Cheeley, Michael Roman, David Shafer, Shawn Still, Stephen Lee, Harrison Floyd, Trevian Kutti, Sidney Powell, Cathleen Latham, Scott Hall, and Misty Hayes. We reported back in April that Willis was looking at announcing criminal indictments related to the 2020 election between July 11 and September 1.
