In his novel The Sun Also Rises, Ernest Hemingway’s character Mike Campbell is asked how he went bankrupt. “Two ways,” he says. “Gradually and then suddenly.” That seems to be true, mutatis mutandis, of revolutions too: some are measured, peaceful; some are not.
In thirteenth-century England, King John was, roughly speaking, a tyrant. In a move that is considered a significant step toward the development of modern constitutional law and democracy in the Western world, the English barons met John at Runnymede in 1215 and forced him to sign the “Runnymede Agreement,” which established the principle that everyone, including the king, was subject to the law.

Outside the obligatory slam against President Trump, this is a fairly good article. Hells a comin, just don’t know which direction yet.

First, the experiment in a representative republic is over. We do not function as a constitutional republic; only the caution exercised in sustaining the illusion that we do, limits the otherwise limitless power seized at the central level. The real constitutional guardrails to totalitarian power have been erased.
If anything we are closer to beginning an experiment in "democracy" which is a gentle way of saying mob rule, or perhaps a somewhat orderly appearing process of imposing mob rule.

The brilliant formation of our government by our forefathers was accompanied by five little words that have proven prophetic and wise, "if you can keep it." We are proving right now that we can't unless we put forth the effort required. Sitting back and wishing will not cut it.

A GREAT article full of historically significant information, especially for those who appreciate the history that has gone before us up until 2009.
As most other posters have surmised, those who would fight to protect our Republic have neither the courage or the fortitude to fight for our continued survival as founded, and we have a pessimistic view of the future because of it.
Up next, the next Presidential election which appears to take virtually ALL attention away from state and local efforts with the harrowing prospect of the weaponized legal system taking over through attacking candidates while the other side puts up "in your face" candidates like Hitlery Clinton or the Wookie to continue this march to socialism of the "elites" of society who know better when they finally RUIN the economy through reckless spending....

Re#4. I’ll differ with you on the democracy and mob rule observation. If we were a democracy with mob rule, same sex marriage wouldn’t have been approved, voter ID would be required everywhere, college students would pay their loans, the border would be secure, illegal immigrants wouldn’t be eligible for drivers licenses or ratepayer provided benefits, teachers wouldn’t be grooming kids, Obama Care would never have passed, we would still have incandescent light bulbs, abortion after three months would be universally banned and political correctness would be a punchline.
What we are heading towards is single party control where the opposition is silenced if not criminalized.
It’s too late to “restore” the constitutional republic, with a majority that doesn’t understand or care about the issues. With each passing day, breaking up the union seems more and more inevitable.

Democracies fail from external forces or internal forces.
USA's South American invasion will be a major cause with corrupt elections won with illegal votes.

FTA: “Whether or not the election was stolen, in the sense of Republican ballots not being counted or Democrat ballots being manufactured and stuffed into ballot boxes late at night, is really no longer the issue—except to fanatics (of whom the 2020 loser in the presidential election is the most fanatical).”
The ballots alone have never been the issue! The issue is that the theft was accepted and sanctioned as though it was legitimate. (“moderation in pursuit of Justice”!)
Here ( https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-real-victim-russiagate-hoax-wasnt-me-it-was-american-people-opinion-1816466) is why we “fanatics” are so “fanatical” about the 2020 Stolen election.
(From Newsweek, an opinion piece by the “2020 loser” & “most fanatical” of the fanatics, an answer to an opinion piece at American Greatness, of all places!)

I vehemently disagree. The actions described above are part and parcel of the same effort as the actions the author emphasizes--The effort to subvert the will of the people and impose the will of our betters. to guarantee that the leftist candidate always wins. All these illegal efforts were directed toward that one goal. When the actions taken before the election were insufficient to guarantee Biden's "election," more direct action had to be taken. Thus, counting was halted simultaneously in numerous "must-win" states and truckloads of ballots were delivered in the dark of night. Then, election officials in Dim-controlled jurisdictions continued counting until they found enough votes to put Biden over the top.

Democracy is thug-ocracy. Rule by psychotic brain-dead mobs addicted to Other People's Money. The Democrat party has lied, stolen, bribed, blackmailed, and cheated its way into permanent totalitarian power. US elections are the world's most corrupt. Every US institution is infested with liberals. You can't vote your way out of fascist/communist rule. It requires revolution.
