Homes outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have been evacuated after a train carrying hazardous materials derailed early Monday morning.
A 40-car CSX freight train operating on Norfolk Southern tracks derailed in Montgomery County around 4:50 a.m., ABC 6 reported. Emergency crews responded to the site of the derailment in the suburban area of Whitemarsh Township. Photos show multiple cars toppled off the tracks. Between 15 and 20 of the cars were carrying hazardous material, which prompted a level 2 hazmat response, Fox 29 reported.
There are no known hazards to the public at this time, and the evacuations were a precaution,

Buttigieg is on the job. No worries. And isn’t Norfolk Southern the same railway as the accident in East Palestine, Ohio? And I believe there was another one either in Idaho or Montana. Not sure about that one. Mayor Pete is another affirmative action hire. All the right boxes checked. That’s what is really important, checking the boxes. There’s Sam Hinton, Karin’s Jean-Pierre, the Levine dude, etc. meritocracy be damned

Yeah, these derailments are not in any way accidental, IMO. However, this happened in a blue state in a blue area so perhaps Mary Pete MIGHT deign to make an "appearance" at some point to assess things on the ground. Make no mistake, no action will be forthcoming but "assessing" is just as important. He may even choose to come in the middle of the day to schmooze with a very friendly media; IOW he won't sneak in at 7:00 AM to avoid being confronted by angry citizens as he did in Ohio.

Quick. Send Ukraine trillions more money.
That will solve the problem. Look at East Palestine. Those people never received a dime of help!

We must make the WORST trains, they keep derailing. Even India has better trains than us. I just don't understand it.

These "accidental" derailments were once unheard of, but have become all too common of late. Fill in your own blank.

Not sure that this is a plot of destruction. Our country is losing its work ethic and finding good, reliable people to do jobs, such as maintaining trains, is a struggle. Everyone wants to sit at home and collect their government check.

Another "accidental" train derailment? This one near very blue democrat ran Philthadelphia. So, we can expect Little Petie Boot Edge Edge aka Bob the Builder to come off of his chest feeding summer vacation quicker this time.

There are about 1500 derailments every year in the USA. That works out, if it was evenly spread in time (it's not) to nearly five per day.
And a very large percentage, perhaps well over 50%, of all trains carry at least some hazardous materials.
This isn't really anything new at all. That doesn't make it good, of course, but it has always been happening and will always happen in the future. If they switched to moving hazmat by truck....it's just going to be truck accidents. Humans make errors. Expecting perfection and no accidents is foolish.
We should strive for fewer accidents, always. It's a good thing, but we should know in advance that achieving perfection is a laudable goal which we cannot ever meet.

Re #1. It is possible it is ecoterrorists, but even before that was a thing, we had a LOT of derail accidents. I tend to doubt that these are anything new, but my bet is that this is just the same old human stupidity, lazieness and corner cutting causing a mess.
My first engineering boss, a very smart man, once told me "If an action can be as easily explained by mere incompetence as by malice, it is a good bet to go with incompetence because the incompetent outnumber the malicious by at least 1,000 to 1, probably 10,000 to one."
I thought about that when he told me that almost 50 years ago, and decided that he was really onto something in understanding human nature's effect on everyday events.
