The end of affirmative action was inevitable. The only surprise was that such intentions gone terribly wrong lasted so long.
First, supporters of racial preferences always pushed back the goal posts for the program’s success. Was institutionalized reverse bias to last 20 years, 60 years, or ad infinitum? Parity became defined as an absolute equality of result. If “equity” was not obtained, then only institutionalized “racism” explained disparities. And only reverse racism was deemed the cure.
Second, affirmative action was imposed on the back end in adult hiring and college admissions.

Joe Biden is all in for AA. Ok. Make the pilots, both captain and co-captain, affirmative action hires. I’m waiting.

Should have died in the 1990's but-for Sandra Day O'Connor who breathed life into it and gave her vote to the Left.

The spirit of the affirmative action was not to deny a person of a job or college admission on the basis of color or gender. Not make them more equal which is what is going on. The Supreme Court just fixed the misuse of the decree.

If Justice Sandra Day O’Connor had done the right thing in the ‘90’s and ended AA, we wouldn’t have BLM, or Reparations now, or the (fake) new Black American history. O’Connor kicked the AA can down the road for 20 more years; it has been 30 years!! Time to end AA!,

Key fact from VDH's excellent (as usual) commentary.
"More than a dozen ethnicities earn more per capita than do whites"
Gee, why is THAT never mentioned? Some "white privelege", right?

Love VDH, and I wish I could agree, but nothing so fiercely promoted by the legacy media, academics in general and law schools in particular, and the Democratic Party “dies” because of a Supreme Court decision.

The company I retired from was big on AA, mostly benefiting white women. When we were taken over by a non-American company, it was drop kicked out the door. The only thing that mattered was the bottom line.

There are more people harmed by Affirmative Action than are helped by it. I believe in giving every qualified person an equal shot at success but the first time you put somebody in a position over more qualified people, especially middle management, those around him or her know the reason immediately. The AA hire is either covered for by his peers and subordinates or resented because they realize he was put there for reasons other than competence. Good people begin to leave as soon as another job becomes available and overall productivity suffers. We have seen this same pattern repeated for decades and nobody owns up to failure because it was the law, their hands are tied etc. I was fortunate in only going through it once, hired a guy who had a professionally-created resume, set up some bogus glowing references, but he was as lazy and useless as a lawn ornament. He was fired within a year. I refused to look at racial quotas ever again. It's scary to think this is happening in the airlines or in the medical industry. Law enforcement and academia is bad enough.

Affirmative Action has been disastrous for individuals who have been pushed through and into positions that are way over their heads. There are many examples of people losing it to resort to plagarism (NYT) and even workplace violence as their frustration mounts and they simply can't keep up with the work involved because they were NEVER capable of these skills in the first place! This dumbing down of America has had disastrous results.

The Court has always had people who viewed AA correctly. It just didn't have enough of them.
Gee. Who would we think of thanking for changing that?
Asking for... you know.

AA has not solved the problem because it ended up using new inequalities to counter old inequalities. This was doomed to fail because it was a zero sum game. Quotes replaced opportunity. The Woke Diversity Inclusion and Equity is only different words for implementing Quotas. The reason President Trump’s economy flowered was because he emphasized opportunity and everything thing he could to get obstructions to opportunity out of the way. With plenty of opportunity everyone prospered.

I don’t see AA ever ending in my lifetime. Then again I don’t expect to see a member of the republican party to ever live in the White House again either.
