Chicago (CBS) - A burglar who can't see something can't steal it either – that is the idea behind a new method of deterring crime by using fog.
As CBS 2's Tara Molina reported Tuesday, the technology behind the fog release is a brand-new way of fighting the mass retail thefts plaguing the city. (Snip) "DensityUSA's instant fog technology is pretty unique," said Mike Egel, president and chief executive officer of DensityUSA. "When a criminal breaks in after hours, the alarm deploys; the fog deploys, and in seconds, your business is going to be protected." The reason, Egel said, is because the burglars won't be able to see what they're doing.

Why would a thief or thieves rob after hours when they can do it by just walking in, taking it, and walking out - all without being stopped, and certainly without being prosecuted.

Here's a better idea, arrest them and put them in jail.

So,
what's in the fog?
Does it cause cancer?
Are we going to sell poisoned clothes and food?
More accidental "population reduction"?
More lawsuits to enrich the donor class?

When enough Walmarts, Stop & Shops, and other assorted businesses close in high-crime neighborhoods because of 'unfavorable business environments', the Left will start passing decrees making it ILLEGAL to close. And there is your wealth redistribution!

Keep a pack of vicious dogs on the premises or better yet have a guard snake. Put out dummy packages of electronics T.V. Computers etc but instead of advertised content, there is poop or again snakes or bees

Deterrents work. Just hang the carcass of the last shoplifter from a lightpole in the parking lot. People will get the hint.

It'll all be virtual shopping in the near future. Fake but accurate shelf items, press 1 to select, pick your order up at the door. After it's paid for.

How about use some of the gadgets 'Q' invented for James Bond. Spray them with tar and feathers, or use a dart gun concealed in someone's sleeves. I also like the tea serving tray that will slice through a perp's neck.

Sounds like baloney, and the moisture is going to damage the goods.

#2 has the better idea. Give six months in jail. No fines, no getting a sentence reduced and no bail. Six months eating jail food, sleeping with their backs to the wall in case big Tyrone gets romantic and six months without their drugs. It would cut the shoplifting at least in half.

When I was a kid, all the big discount stores had an airlock type entrance where you went through one set of doors, and then several feet away was the door to enter the store.
Install those, replace the glass with polycarbonate, and put remote locking mechanisms in the doors and once a thief attempts to leave the store, push a button, lock the doors and wait for the cops.

Will never work. If the thief trips over something in the fog and injures himself, he’ll win a huge lawsuit. We have to take good care of the thieves today.

Whats wrong with remote locks like the fancy jewelry store had? Lock the sobs in the vestibule until the counselors show up.

I dunno.... If I was a burglar, I'd scope out the place, know where my target(s) were located, and use the fog for concealment. Just makes it harder for the police to find you if they do show up. plus it would blind the security cameras and probably interfere with the motion sensors.

Another idea... escape proof doors and windows. They check in but they don't check out.

Here's an idea. Have that fog come with ninja style guards with nightsticks. A couple of well placed upper body blows with shots to the upper legs will deter the average burglar because they won't see it coming.
