CNN’s Christiane Amanpour recently interviewed former President Barack Obama for an hour-long special that aired Thursday night that carried the pretentious subtitle Will Democracy Win? CNN was not subtle in trying to portray Republicans as a threat to democracy, beyond the subtitle, the opening narrator hyped the location of the interview, “An in depth conversation on the state of American democracy from the birthplace of democracy, Athens, Greece.”
Early on in the interview, Obama described U.S. institutions as “creaky” from the strain of allegedly anti-democratic sentiment. Amanpour took that idea and ran with it, “So, let's ask about the creaky or not institutions in the United States.

Discussion of President Biden and son Hunter Biden's communications with foreign business partners was off-the-table during the latest White House press conference.
National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby got into a back-and-forth spat with a reporter who on Friday ead the entirety of a purported WhatsApp text message linking the president to his son's foreign dealings.
Asked if the WhatsApp message undermines the president's claims that he had no knowledge of his son's overseas activities, Kirby replied, "No, and I'm not going to comment further on this."

In a sign of just how important a role social conservative voters will play in determining the 2024 Republican standard-bearer, former President Trump and 10 of his GOP presidential nomination rivals will speak starting Friday at a crucial gathering of evangelical activists and leaders.

More than 150 Starbucks stores with 3,500 workers are set to go on strike next week after a union representing the baristas claimed the company ordered them to take down Pride decorations.
The Starbucks Workers United union previously accused the coffee giant of caving into backlash and failing 'to materially support the LGBTQ+ community' earlier this month.
It said executives had 'banned' stores from displaying rainbow flags and decorations halfway through Pride Month.

Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign team is expected to announce Friday he’s won the endorsements of more than half of Pennsylvania’s House GOP delegation.
The ex-president’s Pennsylvania backing reportedly flows from Reps. Mike Kelly, Dan Meuser, Scott Perry, Guy Reschenthaler and John Joyce. Their show of support helps him draw further away from his Republican rivals seeking the party’s official endorsement. As of Thursday evening, Trump had received the backing of 56 of the 63 House Republicans who had so far endorsed a candidate, according to FiveThirtyEight, which is tracking congressional endorsements.

When I watch the news and read statements and opinions written by non-left politicians and pundits, I can’t help but notice a number of disagreements, contentious disputes, and quarrels that at times, end up with name-calling and pejorative epithets. Under normal circumstances, lively debate would be a sign of a healthy political system that has incorporated the idea of divided government and checks and balances as a practical remedy against dictatorship, totalitarianism, and similar forms of oppression against the common people. But these days, the political situation is far from being normal as our great republic and its bedrock of time-proven principles are attacked by a well-organized syndicate

The US Navy revealed that they knew the Titan submersible, which was diving to see the remains of the Titanic wreck, imploded on Sunday. We have sonar detection and acoustic networks for our national defense, and this classified system picked up the moment when this craft and the five people inside it perished. So, why did we waste an inordinate amount of time rushing to rescue people some in the government knew to be dead? The Coast Guard, Canadian military units, and unmanned submersibles from France that can go to these extreme depths joined the rescue effort that covered at least 10,000 square miles. Let’s recap the official story

Amid growing speculation that Warner Bros. Discovery may sell CNN in the coming year, sources told the New York Post that former CNN CEO Jeff Zucker is “likely” to make a bid to purchase the network.
Zucker allegedly “holds a grudge,” and wants to find a way to “be back on top” after he was ousted from the network more than one year ago, a source close to Zucker told the Post.
Zucker resigned from the network in February 2022 after it was revealed he had an inappropriate relationship with one of his subordinates, Allison Gollust, the network’s chief marketing officer.

California residents fear mental health professionals are one step closer to giving custody of minors 12 and older to the state after lawmakers advanced a bill on Tuesday that aligns with existing laws for children to receive certain services without parental consent.
On Tuesday, lawmakers in the state’s Senate Judiciary Committee advanced Assembly Bill 665, which gives minors over the targeted age group authority to receive mental health services from counselors and therapists who could allegedly sign off on children checking into state-run youth shelters as long they provide evidence of serious physical or mental harm to themselves or others, or if they’re a victim of incest or child abuse.

The Bible was removed from elementary and middle schools in Utah’s Davis School District after leftists created a petition for its removal over “vulgarity or violence.”
The leftists were trying to retaliate after a state law was passed banning providing children with books containing sexual content.
On Tuesday, the school board unanimously voted to return the Bibles.
District spokesperson Christopher Williams said the “Bible has significant, serious value for minors that outweighs the violent or vulgar content it contains.”
School board President Liz Mumford, who voted to return the Bibles, echoed his statement and said that it “has serious literary, artistic, historical, and political value for minors.”
