We may hold certain rights to be "self-evident," but that is simply a comforting fiction derived from the American Revolution. Rights must be taken, not given and, once won, any attempt to nullify them must be resisted by (in the Communist Left's favorite phrase) "any means necessary." Suddenly or gradually, all the English-speaking nations are throwing away (or have thrown away) the rights that made them beacons of freedom to the rest of the world. I found his article confusing. If rights are not GOD given or even under natural law something we are born with, then where do they come from? If we must take them, from who or from what? Maybe he explained all that somewhere in his commentary and I missed it.

Rights come from responsibilities. The freedom of speech flows from the duty we all have to regulate our governments, to learn, to be moral, to correct and inform. It's kind of a Divine thing.

Totalitarians label any ideas that they disagree with as "hate" and make it illegal. But, of course, the UK has NEVER had any sort free speech. It is not part of there warped and limited idea of freedom. We tossed out the British for really excellent reasons. And yes, the Brits and the Irish aren't the same, and haven't gotten along well - but the modern Irish seem to be just as totalitarian.

The Irish were slaves to the British for centuries until 1922 but the free Ireland is rapidly slipping away. Between low birthrate and young people moving to the cities, the towns and villages are disappearing. The next hundred years will see further transformation back to gangs of blue panted men on horseback raiding walled cities.

The first of our founding documents describe our rights: “ We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Call it what you our rights are from our Creator not government!

President Joe Biden on Sunday said he would consider using the 14th amendment to solve America's debt limit but conceded it is probably too close to the June 1st default deadline to use it in this round. 'I'm looking at the 14th Amendment as whether or not we have the authority,' he said at a press conference in Hiroshima. 'I think we have the authority. The question is could it be done and invoked in time that it would not be appealed and, as a consequence, pass the date in question and still default on the debt?'

A student-athlete at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette died “suddenly” at the age of 18 two weeks ago, according to statements from his school, his team in his native country of Canada and his heartbroken family. According to his obituary, Michael Arthur “Micky” Geller had recently completed his first year as a member of the school’s Ragin’ Cajuns Waterski Team. As discussed here many, many times, the big problem with generating electricity from wind and solar sources is that they are intermittent. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don’t. And sometimes they don’t work for days on end. The times when both wind and sun fail at the same time for multiple days tend to be concentrated in the very coldest days of the winter. This poses a huge problem for central planners’ dreams of “net zero” electricity. Try to solve the problem with grid-scale batteries, and suddenly you’re talking wildly unaffordable costs in the trillions of dollars.
