Ever since the Capitol riot, Republicans have been subjected to non-stop pious lectures from Democrats, their allies in the mainstream press, and on the NeverTrump “right” about how it is undemocratic to allegedly undermine and delegitimize “sacred institutions” in America like the Supreme Court and Congress. But as Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee reminded them this week during a predictable hearing on so-called “Supreme Court ethics reform,” it’s Democrats themselves who are guilty of the worst offenses on this front, which include repeated smear attempts – likely coordinated at high levels – against sitting conservative members of the court like Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch.

New regulations from the Biden administration, in collaboration with environmentalists, would limit hunting and fishing in multiple states across the country. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is expected to publish regulations that would limit the equipment allowed on public refuge properties and expand the area where cost-effective lead ammo and fishing tackle is banned. International Order of T. Roosevelt (IOTR) Executive Director Luke Hilgemann, is spearheading the effort to get constitutional amendments on the ballot in several states in 2024 to secure the right to hunt and fish across the country.

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor declined to recuse herself from multiple copyright infringement cases involving book publisher Penguin Random House despite having been paid millions by the firm for her books, making it by far her largest source of income, records show. In 2010, she got a $1.2 million book advance from Knopf Doubleday Group, a part of the conglomerate. In 2012, she reported receiving two advance payments from the publisher totaling $1.9 million.

In late April 2022, the White House named Nina Jankowicz—who believed in the Steele dossier and considered the Hunter Biden laptop story Russian disinformation—its disinformation czar. But the Department of Homeland Security Disinformation Governance Board that Jankowicz headed lasted only four months; Jankowicz herself resigned after just three weeks. A year later, it’s hard to ignore the irony that a White House that created an office allegedly to combat disinformation keeps trafficking in it to damage its political opponents. President Biden and his press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, are spreading disinformation about Florida schools to discredit Governor Ron DeSantis. At a White House briefing on April 20,

America is at a tipping point. Will we continue the downward spiral into a fascist third-world dictatorship? Can we change course back to a constitutional republic that values the free will of men and women, freedom of speech and assembly, the rule of law, and equal justice? Already in the descent to an authoritarian state, free speech is suppressed and thought is censored and replaced by Orwellian New Speak enforced by the thought police. The free press is transformed into shameless state-run propaganda outlets that run the approved false narrative of the day (here)(here)(here)(here). The state takes guns away under the guise of public safety.

President Trump enthusiastically touts his support of the Right to Try law, passed in May, 2018. Ironically, it may benefit one of his main political adversaries. In what is a glorious development for elders and their caregivers, Eli Lilly’s Alzheimer’s treatment donanemab slowed the disease’s progression in a pivotal phase 3 trial. A monthly antibody infusion reduced brain plaque associated with Alzheimer’s. In fact, patients in the trial demonstrated a 35% slower decline in memory. As pointed out by Barrons’ Josh Nathan-Kazis, the drug’s efficacy marks, “an extraordinary moment in the decades-long struggle to find treatments for Alzheimer’s.” Having missed the trial itself, Biden is a strong candidate

On Wednesday morning, Chief Justice John Roberts should get up, look into the mirror and declare "I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I refuse to beat myself up. I am an attractive person. I am fun to be with." That mantra from SNL's "Daily Affirmation with Stuart Smalley" seems appropriate after the former Smalley comedian (and former U.S. Senator) Al Franken has declared Roberts a "villain" and his Court "illegitimate" in the latest attack on the institution. Now that Franken has turned to a podcast as a public platform, the comforting sweaters are gone and the dark Stuart Smalley has emerged.

Going woke means more than, as the saying says, going broke. It also means the ultimate loss of life. The grip of wokeness on our society will eventually kill Americans. Let’s begin with health care. Medical school students, whose learning should be focused on the healing arts, are being taught social justice ideology. Apparently, white supremacy, oppression, and structural racism must be addressed by America’s doctors-to-be, as well as the sin of being white. Diversity, equity, and inclusion studies are being required at some schools,

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an environmental lawyer who is challenging President Biden for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination, promised to enforce immigration laws and strengthen border security after an illegal immigrant allegedly killed five people in Texas, including a young boy. (snip) "Yes. America should be a haven of freedom and prosperity, open to law-abiding migrants who will contribute to our society," he wrote. "However, immigration must proceed in an orderly, lawful manner." He noted that there was "chaos" at the southern border amid high levels of human trafficking and stress on border states. "It is a humanitarian nightmare," he wrote.

For years, it seems, folks like me have been begging the Democratic party to return to its sneaky, crafty roots in its battle to keep the Republicans from wrecking the joint. Where, we thought, were our Lyndons and our Kingfishes? Where were our Curleys and our Daleys and our LaGuardias? Where was the ruthless 1960 Robert Kennedy and his band of Hibernian cutthroats from the three-deckers of Middlesex and Suffolk Counties? Where is FDR, for pity's sake, as crafty an Oval Office operator as ever tilted a cigarette holder?
