News outlets will not be allowed to broadcast former President Donald Trump's arraignment on Tuesday in a Manhattan state court, a judge said Monday night.
New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan rejected a request by several media organizations, including CNN, for permission to broadcast the historic proceedings.
Five still photographers will be allowed to take pictures of Trump and the courtroom before the hearing begins, however. Trump’s arraignment – like most arraignments in the Manhattan courthouse – is a public proceeding, but news cameras are not usually allowed to broadcast from inside the courtroom.
In rejecting the request to broadcast the arraignment, Merchan nonetheless wrote about the historical significance

Monday, three Tennessee bolsheviks were stripped of their committee assignments and locked out of the Tennessee Capitol because of their leading role in the “Transurrection” that took over the capitol building last Wednesday (WATCH: Left-Wing Protesters Storm TN Capitol, Insurrection Reaches the Legislative Chamber). State Representatives Gloria Johnson and Justin Jones were notified by the Clerk of the Tennessee House of Representatives that they had been stripped of all committee assignments. A third representative, Justin Pearson (Justin as a first name seems to be a thing amount Tennessee Democrats), had no committee assignments. Their ability to enter the legislative facilities was restricted in a separate action.

The 28-year-old who killed three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville last week fired 152 rounds, Nashville police said Monday, adding that while they have yet to determine a motive, the shooter planned the attack "over a period of months" and studied other mass murderers.
The shooter, identified as former student Audrey Hale, "acted totally alone," Metro Nashville Police said in the Monday update. Investigators with the police department and the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit continue to review writings left behind by Hale, which police said Monday contain documentation of Hale's planning.

It was reported last week that Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney, was seeking murder charges against Moussa Diarra, a parking garage attendant in Manhattan who had shot a thief in an act of self-defense. However, Bragg has since changed his stance and will no longer pursue charges against Diarra. The original charges stemmed from an incident in the garage where Diarra worked on West 31st Street, where he encountered a thief peering into cars. Diarra suspected the man of stealing and asked him to reveal the contents of his bag. However, the thief had a gun, and when Diarra tried to grab it, the gun went off, injuring

Special counsel prosecutors have secured evidence including daily notes, texts, emails and photographs and are focused on cataloging how Donald Trump handled classified records around the Mar-a-Lago resort and those who may have witnessed the former president with them, according to multiple sources familiar with the investigation.
The new details come amid signs the Justice Department is taking steps typical of near the end of an investigation.
The recent investigative activity before a federal grand jury in Washington, DC, also includes subpoenaing witnesses in March and April who had previously spoken to investigators, the sources said. While the FBI interviewed many aides and workers at Mar-a-Lago nearly a year ago voluntarily

Last week, I shared the news that Disney is still trying to play hardball with Florida. The outgoing board of the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) — the quasi-governmental agency that for decades allowed Disney to manage its own properties without government oversight — enacted a series of development agreements and covenants on its way out the door that purported to allow Disney to retain control. These last-minute machinations happened right before the board of the new special use district that the state of Florida set up was prepared to take office. That board, whose members serve at the behest of the state government, hired a cohort of high-powered attorneys

For the first time, Bob Iger is speaking out and addressing the ongoing battle between the company and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
During Disney’s annual shareholders meeting Monday, Iger answered a bizarre question about the company’s so-called “woke agenda” with the kind of poise and composure that made him such a favorite of his employees and the shareholders. “Let me address this issue, which I haven’t really done much publicly,” Iger said. “But I’d love the opportunity just to put it all in perspective. First of all, I know you said you’re a resident, I think of Melbourne, Florida. We love the state of Florida. And I think that’s reflected

In recent weeks, there have been several whispers and rumors out of the usual political circles that too many donors are nervous about Ron DeSantis, about whether or not he could pivot away from the “culture war” stuff, and whether or not he really is a viable alternative to former president Donald Trump. Whether or not these whispers are true or not remains to be seen, but one vocal supporter of DeSantis says it’s simply not true, and he’s got a Super PAC to prove it.

A team of seven US government investigators fell ill while studying the health impacts of the February derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals through East Palestine, Ohio, according to the CDC.
The group, including members of the Epidemic Intelligence Service, were going house-to-house surveying town residents near contaminated areas when they began feeling symptoms including sore throats, headaches, coughing and nausea. The group spent a day working from their hotel, before their symptoms quickly resolved, the agency told CNN. “Symptoms resolved for most team members later the same afternoon, and everyone resumed work on survey data collection within 24 hours. Impacted team members have not reported ongoing health effects,”

New York City mayor Eric Adams on Monday discouraged unruly political demonstration over the indictment of former president Trump, who is scheduled to be arraigned at the Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters at a press briefing, Adams warned prospective protesters that disorder and lawlessness will not be tolerated by the massive NYPD deployment that will be on-scene outside the courthouse in lower Manhattan as Trump arrives to be fingerprinted and photographed Tuesday morning.
“Control yourselves. New York City is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger. We are the safest large city in America because we respect the rule of law in New York City,”

Would it surprise anyone if it did? On Friday, “Chief Twit” Elon Musk released part of Twitter’s traffic algorithms as promised, and it didn’t take long for coders to find some interesting nuggets. Just hours later, Steven Tey began deconstructing some of the more, er, interesting features of Twitter’s algorithm.
Like the aforementioned government back door, albeit a slightly indirect one:
A developer has discovered a U.S. government intervention option and other insights in Twitter’s recently open sourceed recommendation algorithm.
The Post Millenial reports that on Friday, Twitter released a portion of its recommendation algorithm on GitHub, a website where programmers can share and work together on open-source code.
