When you’re a far-leftist district attorney prosecuting the man the left hates the most, and you have lost the Washington Post, you might want to rethink your position. This is the situation in which New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg finds himself as he continues functioning as the head of the progressive spear to be used to kill former President Donald Trump’s chances of occupying the White House once again.
The Post’s editorial board published an op-ed titled “The Trump indictment is a poor test case for prosecuting a former president,” in which the authors cast doubt on the chances that Bragg will be able to carry out a successful prosecution

After being indicted by a Manhattan grand jury, former President Donald Trump is expected to be arraigned in court on Tuesday, a law enforcement source has told Fox News.
Judge Juan Merchan is the trial judge presiding over the case, which stems from District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation into alleged hush money payments Trump made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump is scheduled to be arraigned at 2:15 p.m. in Merchan's courtroom on the 15th floor at 100 Centre Street in New York City.
In addition to Trump's personal attorney Joe Tacopina, a second source has confirmed that Trump has made arrangements with the district attorney's legal team

Earlier today, I wrote about how the outgoing board of Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID), the quasi-governmental agency that ran Disney’s Florida properties until Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state legislature dissolved it, enacted a series of covenants and development agreements that purported to keep control of the district in the company’s hands. The new board for the renamed Central Florida Tourism District — which DeSantis handpicked and put in place — worried that the actions neutralized the board’s authority, but Disney forgot who it was messing with.
“We’re going to have to deal with it and correct it,” board member Brian Aungst Jr. told the Orlando Sentinel.

Donald Trump faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud in an indictment from a Manhattan grand jury, according to two sources familiar with the case – the first time in American history that a current or former president has faced criminal charges.
Trump is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
The indictment has been filed under seal and will be announced in the coming days. The charges are not publicly known at this time.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has been investigating the former president in connection with his alleged role in a hush money payment scheme and cover-up involving adult film star Stormy Daniels

ABC News is laying off dozens of employees, including some of its highest-ranking executives, as part of the Walt Disney Co.’s ongoing round of layoffs that will see 7,000 employees depart the company.
In all, ABC News is expected to lay off 50 individuals—including an executive producer close to Good Morning, America co-anchor and former Clinton administration official George Stephanopoulos—according to a Variety report. Other executives getting pink-slipped include the head of ABC News’ investigative unit, the network’s Los Angeles bureau chief, and the network’s chief spokesperson. “While these actions are never easy, they are a necessary step to ensure we’re on solid footing for the years ahead

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) said in a statement on Thursday that the indictment of former President Donald Trump was the “clearest example” of Democrats using the government to target their political opponents.
Scalise, the number two Republican in the House, said in a written statement, “The sham New York indictment of President Donald Trump is one of the clearest examples of extremist Democrats weaponizing government to attack their political opponents. Outrageous.” Scalise released his reaction as a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Trump on Thursday for “his role in paying hush money to a porn star,” according to the New York Times.

Entrepreneur and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy slammed the indictment of former President Donald Trump as a “dark moment in American history” and “un-American.”
“The politically motivated indictment of the 45th President of the United States marks a dark moment in American history. It will undermine public trust in our electoral system & justice system,” he tweeted.
“It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals. Principles go beyond partisanship. Let the American people decide who governs,” he added.

I previously wrote about polls including the Monmouth Poll indicating former President Donald Trump developing a lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for the Republican presidential nomination. While Trump has declared for 2024, DeSantis has not yet formally declared, although every sign would indicate that he intends to run.
The Monmouth Poll had showed a steady rise in the poll for Trump since January. After the news that an indictment might be dropped on Trump by the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, his lead continued to climb.
It was announced on Thursday that the New York grand jury had voted to indict Trump.
But a poll

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has swiftly responded to the partisan indictment of Donald Trump. In a statement posted to Twitter, DeSantis denounced the weaponization of the legal system to promote political agendas, and called out Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s soft-on-crime record, contrasting it with his current willingness to stretch the law to target political opponents by stretching the law to its limits. “The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” DeSantis tweeted. “The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law

So the Democrats decided to indict Donald Trump after all. (I assume that Alvin Bragg would not have proceeded without a green light from higher-ups in the party.) Here, as in so many other areas, we are in uncharted waters. The Democrats have launched a sort of blitzkrieg against our traditions, our Constitution, our culture (at least, our culture as it was), and every form of restraint that makes civil society possible. They have unleashed a wind, and seem serenely confident that they will never face a whirlwind. I don’t know, maybe they are right. I do know that after today, our country will never be the same again.

Artificial intelligence-driven language models have garnered millions of users in recent months, instantly whipping up viral sensations like a biblical verse about how to remove a peanut butter sandwich from a VCR.
However, AI-enhanced systems pose significant dangers that far outweigh the benefits, according to a group of tech leaders, including entrepreneur Elon Musk, who signed an open letter on Wednesday calling for a six-month pause in the development of AI systems and a major expansion of government oversight.

The NYPD is beefing up its presence as newly indicted former President Donald Trump is expected to surrender early next week, sources told The Post Thursday.
Prosecutors with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office — which filed an unprecedented indictment against Trump, 76, related to hush-money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels — wanted him arraigned Friday, sources said. But Trump’s lawyers wouldn’t agree to that and instead, he’ll turn himself in next week, possibly as early as Monday, the sources added.
In a statement, Bragg said his office was in touch with Trump’s legal team on a surrender date.
“This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender
