Tony Blair: Putin can't use Iraq to justify
Ukraine invasion

Russia's invasion of Ukraine cannot be equated with the US-led invasion of Iraq, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said Saturday, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the conflict that toppled Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Blair said Moscow's forces had invaded "a country that has a democratically elected president who, to my knowledge, has never started a regional conflict or committed any aggression against its neighbors." The former British leader said Saddam Hussein, on the other hand, had brutalized his own people, engaged in two wars in violation of international law and used chemical weapons to kill 12,000 people in a single day.

That may have been the initial conditions. But just like "oil for food," the degeneration was stupendous. How much has our president-wanna-be's family looted from Ukraine? How much had the Bush family looted from Iraq? Did an Iraqi born military officer impeach a US president? We need full disclosure, not a lecture from the Perpetual Wars Marketing Department.

Apples and Grapefruits but that does not justify our invasion of Iraq. Iraq and Iran had been fighting each other for decades and kept each other in check. Our taking out Saddam only allowed Iran to become the dominant power in the region and billions of dollars from Barack Hussein Obola and Valerie Jarrett set them on the path to a nuclear weapon. George W. Bush took out Saddam for the sole reason that Daddy Bush could not.

Oh, I don’t know. Scores of US-funded bio labs (and worse) right next door could be considered aggression against a neighbor, in my book.

The U.S. and NATO nullified the Presidential election in Ukraine, via the coup in 2014 which was staged and managed by Victoria Nuland, Jake Sullivan, Geoffrey Pyatt and VP Joe Biden and on which the U.S. spent $5 Billion. That coup overthrew the democratically (2 times) President, Yanukovych,

FTA: "Blair said Moscow's forces had invaded "a country that has a democratically elected president...."" If the situation weren't so serious, I'd call him a comedian. Z "elected" after previous elected president was ousted in a US coordinated coup. "..who, to my knowledge, has never started a regional conflict or committed any aggression against its neighbors." That's a stretch. At NATO's bidding did everything to antagonize his neighbor. Slaughtering 14,000 of his own citizens because they were Russian doesn't appear to count. "The former British leader said Saddam Hussein, on the other hand, had brutalized his own people, engaged in two wars in violation of international law and used chemical weapons to kill 12,000 people in a single day." Tony, on the other hand, being part of the rules based international order, never has to say sorry for being a war criminal. "At least you could say we were removing a despot and trying to introduce democracy," LOL. What a slimy git you are Tone.

The US didn't find bio-terror labs in Iraq. But, Russia found 42 bio-terror labs in Ukraine.

If Democrats really wanted Donald Trump to fade away, as they claim, then they would stop persecuting him. Maybe they are so blinded by hatred that they can’t see that every time they use the heavy hand of the law against the former president, they just cement his status as MAGA martyr. Or maybe they are so terrified of running against Ron DeSantis in 2024, that they actually want to martyr Trump to ensure he wins the Republican presidential primary ready for a repeat contest with Joe Biden. In that scenario, Democratic prosecutors in New York and Georgia, and a partisan DOJ, play the role of picadors

“With the law books filled with a great assortment of crimes, a prosecutor stands a fair chance of finding at least a technical violation of some act on the part of almost anyone. In such a case, it is not a question of discovering the commission of a crime and then looking for who has committed it, it is a question of picking the man and then searching the law books, or putting investigators to work, to pin some offense on him. It is in this realm — in which the prosecutor picks some person whom he dislikes or desires to embarrass, or selects some group of unpopular persons

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called on his country to be ready to launch a nuclear attack to deter war as he accused the U.S. and South Korea of carrying out military drills with American nuclear assets, according to state media. Kim's remarks, carried on state media KCNA, came after the Hermit Kingdom launched a short-range ballistic missile toward the sea on Sunday. The missile flew across the country and landed in the sea off its east coast, according to South Korean and Japanese assessments – which reported that the missile traveled a distance of about 500 miles.

President Joe Biden has repeatedly denied that his family received money from China. He has also denied any knowledge of his son’s foreign dealings despite direct evidence to the contrary, including a recorded message from the President to Hunter referencing the deals. The White House has simply refused to address the recording or photographs contradicting the President. Now, there is confirmation that millions were sent from China and then money from a third-party account was distributed to at least three, and possibly four, Biden family members. However, when confronted with the evidence on the way to Marine One, the President again declared “that’s not true.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are allegedly demanding a place on the Buckingham Palace balcony during King Charles’ coronation — and an acknowledgment during the festivities of their two young kids, according to a report. The requests, and the couple’s apparent holding out until their wishes are granted, may throw the historic event into “chaos,” royal insiders fear. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex — who recently received their invitations to the May 6 ceremony — are still mulling over whether or not they will make the 5,459-mile-long trip. If they do go, the exiled royals will be met with a “cold shoulder” from senior members of the royal family

“The moment that we are waiting for, we made it to the finale together” — those familiar words from “America’s Got Talent” — could well be the opening line for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg next week, when he is expected to unveil an indictment of former President Trump. With Trump’s reported announcement that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday, it would be a fitting curtain raiser for a case that has developed more like a television production than a criminal prosecution. Indeed, this indictment was repeatedly rejected only to be brought back by popular demand.

President Joe Biden and his many defenders have a penchant for blaming the many catastrophes that have happened on his watch on somebody or something else. Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, China, the Taliban, MAGA Republicans and greedy corporations. Take your pick. According to the commander in chief, he bears no responsibility for the past 26 months. The buck apparently doesn’t stop in the Biden Oval Office. But when it comes to the economy, and, in particular, inflation, Biden can’t run away from reality.

The lawsuit filed against Fox News by Dominion Voting Services, set to go to trial on April 17, may turn out to be a seminal case in First Amendment jurisprudence, with effects that reach well beyond Fox. In a nutshell, Dominion charges that Fox defamed them by putting on air people who claimed that Dominion’s voting machines yielded incorrect results, to the benefit of Joe Biden. More than this, the plaintiffs have secured, through depositions, evidence that Fox News hosts and news executives themselves disbelieved the claims their on-air guests were making. For all that, the irony surrounding this case abounds. If Americans have learned anything during the past six years

When Constantinople finally fell to the Ottomans on Tuesday, May 29, 1453, the Byzantine Empire and its capital had up to that point survived for 1,000 years beyond the fall of the Western Empire at Rome. Always outnumbered in a sea of enemies, the Byzantines' survival had depended on its realist diplomacy of dividing its enemies, avoiding military quagmires, and ensuring constant deterrence. Generations of self-sacrifice ensured ample investment for infrastructure. Each generation inherited and improved on singular aqueducts and cisterns, sewer systems, and the most complex and formidable city fortifications in the world.

In his latest Asia Times piece, he noted the private thinking going on of people who make up the foreign policy community: A gloomy assessment of Ukraine’s prospects for victory against Russia emerged from a recent private gathering of former top US soldiers, intelligence officials and scholars with resumes reaching from the Reagan to the Trump administrations. Short of trained personnel and ammunition, one speaker argued, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky might consider a Chinese peace plan,
