The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has made a formal request for information about the possible health hazards of gas-powered stoves—another signal that the United States may be moving towards a ban on those appliances under the Biden administration.
“This RFI does not constitute or propose regulatory action, but rather is intended to inform the Commission and the public,” the request states.
The request can be viewed here. It has already received hundreds of comments. The comment period ends May 8.
(snip) seeking input and “proposed solutions” from stakeholders such as “consumers, manufacturers, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and researchers on chronic chemical hazards associated with the use of gas ranges.”

FTA:
Research from China-Linked Think Tank
Trumka Jr.’s Jan. 9 comments followed the publication in Dec. 2022 of a peer-reviewed article that traced 12.7 percent of childhood asthma to gas stoves.
That paper was authored in part by researchers with the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), an environmental think tank that focuses on “carbon-free buildings,” among other topics.
The RMI also has a “China Program” involving a Beijing-based team. It advertises its connection to that state, which is run by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
“In China, we partner with the government to help the nation profitably surpass its existing national energy and emissions targets,” RMI’s website on that program states.
RMI’s Brady Seals told the Washington Examiner its study “does not assume or estimate a causal relationship” in the association it documented between childhood asthma and gas stoves.
Another piece of the CCP’s hundred year marathon to destroy our exceedingly clean country? Who is checking emissions in China?

Where under the Constitution does this Communist Federal Government Agency have the power and right to tell each and everyone of us what kind of stove can we cook our food on? Where? At what point does all of these unlawful and totalitarian attempts by the Communist Death Democrats and their Rhino allies, the Communist Death Republicans to control every single aspect of our lives become totally overwhelming and leads to a complete breakdown into chaos?

There goes the restaurant industry. I keep saying this is the last straw. No gas stoves. Next will be gas water heaters and furnaces. And the cost of replacing them will be enormous. They’re destroying everyone but the elite. They don’t do their own cooking, so they don’t care. Can anyone picture Theresa Heinz Kerry at the stove? Dr. Jill? Queen Nancy Pelosi? Maxine Waters? And they can easily afford to replace everything, not that they would have to.

A Federal ban of gas stoves is not needed.
The ban that is most needed is a ban on Federal Gaslighting.

Our house has been all gas since being built in 1938. No respiratory disease. A healthy family raised there. Gas stove with 7 pilot lights. Well-vented through roof.
FTA:
“The American Gas Association, an industry group, issued a statement on Jan. 10 criticizing the RMI study, saying it was “not substantiated by sound science.”
“The authors conducted no measurements or tests based on real-life appliance usage, and ignored literature, including one study of data collected from more than 500,000 children in 47 countries that ‘detected no evidence of an association between the use of gas as a cooking fuel and either asthma symptoms or asthma diagnosis,'” the group stated."

I grew up in a rather small home with a gas stove that had a pilot light. Never got asthma, never got sick from it, even knew how to relight the pilot light if I smelled gas and it was out. The whole thing is total BS.

These fools want to destroy the economy and restructure society. Control is their overriding issue; they just use climate alarmism as part of their end goals.

My kitchen, my choice.
If Biden’s Gestapo and blue state governors agree that abortions can be performed up until the 9 month date of birth, how are gas stoves more dangerous to human beings? If children can be permanently mutilated under Biden’s gender affirming care, how are gas fired hot water heaters and furnaces more dangerous to the same children? “At least he/she/it doesn’t have to worry about childhood asthma” thanks to Biden.
Decision on banning gas stoves will be put on back burner until after Biden steals his re-election. Stolen to save democracy.

If Leviathan can ban your gas stove owing to pismire emission of combustion products, what’s to prevent banning all natural gas and propane combustion? Ta-ta electricity generation!

There is no hazard from gas stoves. The only hazard is the climate cultists hell-bent on destroying the world based on climate ignorance and mental illness.

My rental includes an electric stove which I dislike. The burner is always hotter on one side only which means more stirring. Increasing or reducing the heat is not instantaneous. It's difficult to determine the optimal amount of heat because you cannot see the amount of heat you desire. Chefs of the USA, unite!!!

Gas stoves have been around almost 200 years.
How have they suddenly become a health hazard?

In the 50s I grew up with gas floor furnaces, panelray gas wall heaters, gas open flame space heaters, gas water heater, gas stove (and when the older kids left home we got a gas clothes dryer!). I only knew one person with asthma and thatvwas in the 60s and he lived in a new home with central heat - I assume it was gas. IMO, which I could likely validate with a little research, most illnesses today, which could be linked to home environments, are caused by the chemicals in modern building materials and air tight homes with a lack of ventilation.(which is mostly the result of EPA energy saving regulations and suggestions) BTW will a new "energy efficient" waterheater stuffed with insulation fit in your old water heater's space?

We would probably have LESS CO2 emissions if we increased the use of natural gas. When I was a kid we had gas cooking, gas hot water, gas forced air heating, and a gas dryer. All of these things worked very well. My dad kicked himself for not also getting a gas air conditioner.

Woodstoves are pricing higher now for a reason. I love my gas stove too but my own wood will keep us warm and fed if the government idiots continue down this path.

Remember when this started and was down played & poo poo'd by all the news nets
saying that it was just an offhand remark by someone in some meeting and wasn't
being taken seriously by anyone ? Remember ? I do.
And now, here we are. Is it time yet ??
Call me when the White House removes it's gas ranges !
This is just another example of MORE control being grabbed and flexed by anyone who
has the guts to grab the control and run with it.
These b....... are not going to be TALKED out of their goal(s) or persuaded to
change their minds or even threatened out of completing their transformation of this
globe into a very small group of haves and a very large group of 'have nots'
AKA serfs, subjects. servants or my personal favorite, SLAVES !
Strap in folks, unless something BIG changes, the vast majority of us, to quote an old
movie, 'are on a ONE WAY ticket to 'you know where' !!
Don't even THINK of saying - Gee, nobody saw this coming !
It seems like, almost every day, there is another story, item, proclamation, about
changes to our lives, or our state, our country, etc that is going into effect immediately
if not sooner, weather we like it or not. No discussions, no compromises, NOTHING.
Just shut up and take it !
Wonder what it will take to flip that switch that we all hope will NEVER be flipped.

Once I found out gas stoves could be converted to use propane I started looking for a new gas stove. We have a lovely 5 burner, double oven and I got it for half price from Sears scratch and dent. The scratches on the stainless steel aren’t even noticeable. There’s no way I’m giving up my stove. 2024 can’t come fast enough.

If I didn't love my current stove so much, I would go to the expense of buying a new gas stove, just for spite.

Electric stoves are more expensive and use more resources. In any case, the elderly still living in their own homes should be grandfathered in on any of the documents and rules created by wicked leftist Church of Climatology priests. BTW, whoever these snakes are, taxpayers are paying their salaries.

Gee, they're making me nostalgic, I once bought and lived in an all-electric "Gold Medallion" home near Los Angeles for 2 or 3 years, before my job took me elsewhere. Ronnie Reagan may have done ads for them at the time. Didn't care much for it.then, and owning one interests me even less today:

Envirocrazy lies.
Not a word of truth in it.
Gas burns to ONLY water vapor and carbon dioxide. Nothing else at all.
Neither of those causes asthma.
