House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is demanding answers from a New York district attorney reportedly planning to arrest former President Donald Trump on March 21.
The district attorney in question, Alvin Bragg of Manhattan, is reportedly planning to arrest the former president over an alleged “hush money” payment during the 2016 election. Trump is accused of furnishing money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to hide allegations of an affair between the two, which Trump denies having.

In his letter to Bragg (pdf), Jordan—joined by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.)—called the impending arrest “an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority.”

Slightly interesting, and in the big picture somewhat expected. During a lengthy interview with ABC’s primary propagandist, Jonathan Karl, former VP Mike Pence asserts that if he is forced to give testimony to Special Counsel Jack Smith on conversations with President Trump about the 2020 election results(snip) will not assert that private conversation as “executive privilege.”
This approach was expected by the most cynically minded, because it explains why Pence is delaying any presidential race announcement. (snip) to be valuable to the special counsel, he must testify before he makes a 2024 announcement, or else his testimony gives the impression of denying “executive privilege” (snip)to undermine his opponent,

Stunningly, the Polish Ambassador to France Jan Emeryk Rościszewski said yesterday: “Either Ukraine will defend its independence today, or we will be forced to enter into this conflict,” sending a clear message that NATO will enter the war against Russia if Ukraine loses ground.
Rościszewski essentially said the quiet part out loud, and that public statement immediately caused the NATO allies to recoil. The EU NATO allies were not recoiling due to the substance of what he said, but rather because he said it publicly. Nearly 200 more banks could be vulnerable to the same type of risk that collapsed Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) earlier this month, according to a recently published study.
There are 186 banks across the United States that could collapse if half of their respective uninsured depositors withdraw their funds, researchers with the Social Science Research Network found. Deposits at member banks of up to $250,000 are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., although the agency agreed to insure depositors’ funds far above that after SVB’s collapse this month.

A Cornell Law School professor has launched the Equal Protection Project, a network of attorneys battling discrimination against whites occurring under so-called Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) mandates.
Professor William A. Jacobson, founder of the Legal Insurrection Foundation and Criticalrace.org, started his latest project, EqualProtect.org, in response to a disturbing trend that ditches the American idea that people should be treated equally, without regard to race or ethnicity.
“We reject the idea that the society we live in is systemically racist and that therefore racism is the default explanation for everything that happens,” Jacobson told The Epoch Times.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) purchased data from tracking companies to monitor compliance with lockdowns, according to contracts with the firms.
The CDC paid one firm $420,000 and another $208,000. That bought access to location data from at least 55 million cellphone users.
The contracts, approved under emergency review due to the COVID-19 pandemic, were aimed at providing the CDC “with the necessary data to continue critical emergency response functions related to evaluating the impact of visits to key points of interest, stay at home orders, closures, re-openings and other public heath communications related to mask mandate, and other merging research areas on community transmission of SARS-CoV-2,”

News Thursday of payments from a Chinese Communist Party-linked company to members of President Joe Biden’s family amounts to a potential case for bribery, an impeachable offense under the Constitution.
The House Oversight Committee revealed that in 2017, China’s State Energy HK Limited sent $3 million to a company controlled by family associate Robert Walker, who in turn distributed funds to members of Biden’s family: his surviving son, Hunter; his brother, James; his daughter-in-law, Hallie; and an unknown “Biden.”
State Energy HK Limited was linked to CEFC China Energy, whose chairman, Ye Jianming, did business with Hunter Biden. CEFC was also involved in an abandoned joint venture with the Biden family

Last weekend, I blogged about the destruction of Roald Dahl’s children’s literature in the name of wokeness. The outrage and backlash were so profound that Penquin decided that it will continue to publish the actual works of Dahl alongside the new non-Dahl versions—though it seems the completely rewritten texts (including the addition of entirely new sentences, paragraphs, etc.) will still be published as if they were his original works. They are not.
(snip)Penguin’s Puffin Books decided it would be a grand idea to destroy the delightful children’s literature of Dahl at the urging of a person described as a “non-binary, asexual, polyamorous relationship anarchist who is on the autism spectrum.”

An 80-year-old Midwestern woman from an affluent suburban area made nearly 9,000 small donations totaling more than $330,000 to political causes and candidates in four years, according to federal election records.
She says she didn’t.

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said that rumors and reports claiming former President Donald Trump could be arrested soon are a “dark moment” in U.S. history.
“It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals,” Ramaswamy,(snip) wrote on Twitter Saturday. “If a Republican prosecutor in 2004 had used a campaign finance technicality to arrest then-candidate John Kerry while Bush & Cheney were in power, liberals would have cried foul—and rightly so.”
