Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon has suspended the attorney who prosecuted a 26-year-old trans child molester who was accused of identifying as a woman only after DNA evidence linked her to a cold case crime, according to law enforcement sources.
Shea Sanna, who had been the lead prosecutor for part of the case, is accused of misgendering and "deadnaming" the convicted child molester Hannah Tubbs, who is now accused of beating a man to death in the woods with a rock in Kern County.
Sanna has argued in the past that jailhouse phone calls show Tubbs was attempting to use gender identity to game the justice system

Libertyville, Ill. — Lake County deputies are looking for two men they said stole a car Thursday afternoon from a driveway with a two-year-old boy inside and ran over his pregnant mother. (Snip) She took one of her kids inside and when she came back out to get her son, a man tried to get in her car. Deputies said the man got in the car with the child still inside and left the area with another man driving a white BMW. As the men drove away, one of them ran over the boy’s mother, who is six-months pregnant, and left her with serious injuries.

Paxton — When a wind turbine collapsed last Thursday east of Paxton, a substantial amount of oil spilled from the turbine hub into the ground. (Snip) Whitebird has been on site and said a crew is ready to begin dismantling the turbine but has to wait until the area dries out from Wednesday’s rains.
“Those things house hundreds of gallons of oil,” Whitebird said. “At this point there’s no definite amount of how much was spilled,” and that information won’t be available until the hub is dismantled. As a result, it is no known if the spillage would pose an environmental problem.
“I know the IEPA has been out there,” Whitebird said.

State Sen. Chapin Rose, R-Mahomet, recently received rare statewide publicity when he tweaked the noses of Gov. J.B. Pritzker and his big-city supporters.
In a tongue-in-cheek protest, he introduced the “If This Is Such a Good Idea, Let’s Start With You” Act.
“The City of Chicago must convert Millennium Park into a solar-energy park by building solar-energy facilities on all open space and mounting solar-energy facilities on structures,” the bill states.
The legislation also would require municipal officials in the Windy City to “place multiple wind-energy facilities in each public park.”
What’s this about? A political double-cross, and a political disconnect.

An 80-year-old man living near Chicago's O’Hare airport was left "battered" late last month when two intruders knocked on his door and entered his home.
The elderly man was a legal gun owner and managed to fire off a shot, hitting one intruder and sending the other running for cover.
The incident is one of dozens that have played out in the Windy City in recent years. Legally armed citizens are taking matters into their own hands, thwarting attacks and other crimes.(Snip)In Illinois, obtaining a concealed carry permit is "difficult," but still "possible," according to crime and gun expert Lott.

CHICAGO - In a letter sent out this week by the Chicago Audubon Society, the environmental consulting organization says it plans to drop "Audubon" from its name and is encouraging the National Audubon Society to do the same. (Snip) "Carrying John James Audubon’s name does not serve us well ethically," the organization said, calling out the naturalist’s ties to a genocidal campaign waged against people of color.
The organization argued that Audubon had no role to play in the discovery of nation’s natural resources but merely described them for mostly white audiences.

The Illinois Department of Human Services is preparing to move 658 recent migrant arrivals into a former Kmart in Chicago for temporary shelter, WTTW News has learned.
The 100,000-square-foot store has sat vacant at the corner of 71st Street and Pulaski Road on the city’s Southwest Side since 2016.
Sources said the migrants — mostly asylum seekers — will be relocated from the suburbs, where they are currently staying at hotels.
According to documents WTTW News obtained, the site was selected because of its nearby resources and because it is in a welcoming neighborhood.
But some local officials are not yet ready to roll out the welcome mat.

Asked about his philosophy in life, movie star Harrison Ford said this week that he was "raised a Democrat" and "my moral purpose was being a Democrat." (Snip) Back in 2020, he suggested, "I think it's come to the point where we gotta start talking politics. But we gotta talk about it in a positive way. We gotta regain the middle ground. We're in these ideological enclaves. But the truth is in the middle. Progress is made in the middle."
That same year, Ford called Donald Trump a "son of a b----."

Chicago - Dakotah Earley nearly died and lost part of his leg after a shooting in Lincoln Park that lawyers say could have been prevented by the city of Chicago if it weren't for police pursuit policies in place.
Lawyers for Dakotah filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago Thursday morning naming Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Supt. David Brown as liable parities in the shooting. Dakotah has had 13 surgeries since the violent armed robbery on May 6, 2022, near the DePaul campus in the 1300 block of West Webster Avenue.
He expects to undergo another surgery in the coming weeks.

A Lakeview man says he was recently robbed twice: First, by a pair of muggers, then by his bank.
Much of 24-year-old Colin Johnson’s savings account was drained by thieves who used a popular banking app to do the damage; one that is now under fire by lawmakers. (Snip) In the months that followed the robbery, Citibank declined Johnson’s multiple requests for refunds, as well as his appeals, arguing that Johnson had authorized the money transfers.
This, despite Johnson sharing with Citibank’s fraud department the police report documenting the crime that occurred.

Bobby Hull, the legendary and controversial Chicago Blackhawks player and Hall of Famer, has died at the age of 84, according to the NHL Alumni Association.
Hull, nicknamed “The Golden Jet,” is the Blackhawks’ all-time leading goal-scorer, with 604 career goals.
He played 15 seasons for the Blackhawks, winning a Stanley Cup in 1961 and two Hart trophies. Hull later spent seven seasons in the WHA playing for the Winnipeg Jets, then played one NHL season for them before finishing his career with the Hartford Whalers. (Snip) Hull, whose son Brett is also a Hall of Famer, lost his role as a team ambassador for the Blackhawks last year.
