Let’s be brutally honest, shall we? And I mean to cast no aspersions on Walmart, but when even Walmart finally packs up and skedaddles out of your city, it’s a strong indication that your city is in pretty bad shape. And when Lori Lightfoot is your mayor, you live in Chicago, and you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Closing stores isn’t rare for Walmart, particularly given its more than 5,000 stores nationwide. As ABC affiliate WLS-TV in Chicago reported the giant retailer closed 160 stores over the past couple of years, but with 5,000 stores the company has to be flexible and the bottom line is, literally, it has to go

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is facing more pressure this week over the Ohio train disaster, with former President Donald Trump set to visit the state Wednesday amid GOP calls for Buttigieg to resign or face impeachment over the train derailment.
Ohio GOP Rep. Warren Davidson on Friday called for Buttigieg to be impeached over the matter, after a train derailment spewed toxic chemicals and caused residents to complain of headaches and other symptoms.
'I hope [Buttigieg] does resign, and if he doesn't, you know, there's a long list of impeachment criteria. I never would have thought we'd see a point where we need to impeach a secretary of Transportation,

America is bracing for a mass exodus of retail stores across the nation this year, with more than 800 big box locations set to close from California to New York.
Among the iconic names to announce they are downsizing includes Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Gap and Party City.
At least 803 stores are set to be shuttered over the rest of 2023, with many forced into desperate cost cutting measures amid rampant inflation and declining bottom lines.
The move comes as numerous industries continue to struggle, including Silicon Valley's 'tech wreck' which has seen over 70,000 jobs lost in recent months.

The request from Alec Baldwin's attorneys to drop a five-year gun-enhancement charge against the actor has been granted.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the Sante Fe District Attorney's Office dropped the charge against Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed on Monday. Baldwin still faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during production of the film Rust.
Conviction on the gun-enhancement charge carries a mandatory five-year sentence. If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Baldwin would face an 18-month sentence.

“This is a major cultural issue of our time,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey (R) told Breitbart News as he begins an investigation into a St. Louis gender clinic.
Appearing on Breitbart News Saturday, Bailey said his office’s investigation into Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital will be comprehensive.
“It’s an all-hands-on-deck approach; we’re not going to leave any stone unturned because the allegations are significant,” Bailey said, referring to an affidavit from whistleblower Jamie Reed who previously worked at the clinic. “We began an investigation, we’ve marshaled state resources, and we’re now leading a multi-agency investigation.”

Public health officials will provide medical assistance to residents of East Palestine, Ohio, in a greater response to increasing fears in the community after a train loaded with toxic chemicals derailed more than two weeks ago, leading to possible contamination of the air and drinking water in the region.
Starting Tuesday, health experts with the Ohio Department of Health, the Columbiana County Health Department, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will meet face-to-face with citizens for two weeks as part of a series of public health clinics to answer medical questions and provide health assessments, medical care and other assistance

This is part of a Washington Examiner investigative series on self-styled "disinformation" tracking groups that are blacklisting and trying to defund conservative media outlets. Here is where you can read stories in the series.~~
As a direct result of multiple Washington Examiner reports, a State Department-backed nonprofit group is severing its financial relationship with a "disinformation" tracking organization that is secretly blacklisting and taking steps to shut down conservative media.
The National Endowment for Democracy, a group funded almost entirely through congressional appropriations, granted $545,750 between 2020 and 2021 to the Global Disinformation Index, which is feeding conservative website blacklists to advertising companies.

Nearly 150,000 cans of baby formula are being recalled for deadly bacteria contamination.
Reckitt, based in the UK, is recalling cans manufactured between August and September and sold across the US, Guam and Puerto Rico because of potential Cronobacter sakazakii contamination.
The bacteria lives in very dry places and sporadically appears as a contaminant in dry foods like formula, powdered milk and herbal teas. It can lead to deadly complications like sepsis and meningitis when ingested.
It is the same germ responsible for manufacturing giant Abbott Labs

On Monday evening, Project Veritas released a statement responding to founder James O’Keefe’s resignation.
The board of directors claimed O’Keefe spent an excessive amount of money on unnecessary expenses.
It is worth noting that the following expenses were all mentioned and refuted by O’Keefe in his resignation speech.
READ THE STATEMENT BELOW:
Today, James O’Keefe decided to remove his belongings from Project Veritas headquarters. The Board and Management made numerous attempts in the last 14 days to have a conversation with James, but he ignored our outreach and decided to instead leak private information to others, either by doing so himself or by proxy.

As we reported earlier, Joe Biden made a “surprise” visit to Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky to appear tough to Americans after getting a lot of backlash for his handling of a Chinese spy balloon over the United States. But while it was a surprise to Americans, the Russians were told before we were. Then Biden tweeted that Ukraine had “captured a part of my heart,” infuriating Americans who believed he doesn’t give a darn about Americans including in places in crisis, like the border and East Palestine, Ohio. Americans think he’s more “captured” by what he (or his family) can get from Ukraine, while our money is

Vice President Kamala Harris posed next to a masked-up little girl in a photo shared to social media in which she offered a message to “Black women and girls everywhere.”
“My message to Black women and girls everywhere: Never ask for permission to lead,” Harris said on Sunday, sharing an image of herself bending down and holding the hand of a little black girl who was wearing a mask covering half her face. Harris is not wearing a mask in the image: (Tweet/Photo) The photo is one reminiscent of the days of Democrat politicians posing with masked-up children for photo ops throughout the pandemic,
