The 2024 Republican presidential primary has hardly begun, but a consensus has already formed in conservative media that Donald Trump is toxic and unelectable. This narrative, commonplace but seldom challenged, is being pushed aggressively by pundits who are obviously partial to Florida governor Ron DeSantis. Many of these personalities insist that Trump has an obligation to step aside, and they pretend that Trump is attacking DeSantis unprovoked, despite the governor’s obvious intentions to run.
The DeSantis hype is not limited to media personalities

The nomination is Trump's if he wants it - regardless of the Koch brothers, Deep Staters, or the Republican establishment. Trump is still popular. Whether he's electable is a separate issue and will be determined not be polls but by voters in '24.

Sadly #1, I don't think you meant to make a joke. But if the actual voters really mattered, Donald Trump would be halfway through his second term in office as we speak, and this nation would be in about 1,000 times better shape.
As 2020 and 2022 proved, it's not the legal votes, but the illegal election theft, that matters. Unless the Republicans are finally willing and able to get down in the mud and fight the Demon-Rats even harder and dirtier in 2024 and beyond, I'm not sure that legal voters will ever win an election again...

I agree with you poster 3#. The sun has set on legal voting in this country, and won't rise again until Republicans come to grips with the massive voter fraud. I don't think pubbies have the wherewithal to achieve anything in this area, a good part of which stems from many who still see nothing wrong with our elections.

What worked in 2016 will not work in 2024. He needs to make his case in a way that gets through to people who might vote for him. Kelly Ann Conway can only do so much.

The nation is lost.
Nothing and no one can save it.
The rot, corruption, and deceit are too deep for a simple fix that could happen in just four years. The operators at the top don't WANT to fix this, they're rolling in hog heaven.
There are flaws in Humanity which dictate our fall. We are riding the historical wave that every single empire has ridden.
Power, greed, avarice, thievery, and murder are only some of the flaws.
Hunker down kids, the ride is gonna get rough.

As much as you might want to love DeSantis, he is a career politician with all that implies. I live 10 miles from the FL border; they don't love him as much as you think they would.

Ron DeSantis is a popular conservative governor of what has become a solidly Republican state. He has a strong Republican majority in the state legislature that passes any legislation that he wants. He says all the right conservative things, and appears to be very strong because of it. The media in his state tends to be supportive of him.
If that sounds familiar, that was the exact description of George W. Bush not that many years ago. But when he got elected president and moved to the DC sewer, he quickly learned that he had to deal with an obstinate and confrontational Congress (even the Republicans), and a media that basically portrayed him as only slightly better than Hitler. And he quickly folded like a wet noodle!!! We all remember the disaster of his administration because of his weakness and the reality of the DC sewer system!!!!!
While I believe that DeSantis is both a stronger conservative, and has a stronger spine, than Bush ever did, he has said a few too many "politician" things along the way to make me fear for his presidential administration if he gets there before he is actually ready. That is why, as of today, I plan to fully support him in 2028 and beyond.
But I firmly believe that Donald Trump is the only person strong enough to undo the horrible damage inflicted on this republic by 4 years of Senile Joe bidet and his unelected communist puppet masters. He 100% has my vote, support, and financial donations, for the 2024 primary and general election!!!!

we didn't learn well enough the 1st extremism lesson of az:
the flying monkeys are highly-bribed gop mutants and damnomrxistas.
by rights, the entire country should be supporting az to the hilt...
that fraud sellers whinged when he received the gift of an orange jumpsuit,
back in 2020. this creep is not an election official; yet, he remains on the loose-
-mashing machines for mao.
the wounds of az must be disinfected and healed, or the body politic dies.

If President Donald John Trump is re-elected his biggest problem will be as it was in his first term, Podunk 'judges' declaring that they do not like what he is doing and imposing their beliefs on the judicial system across the nation.

The author has raised some serious questions regarding DeSantis. I don’t think it’s going to be the sure thing that DeSantis and his supporters want us to believe that it will be. The most troubling for me are his donors and his nasally sounding voice. I still like him, but I am withholding my support. In my opinion this is still Trump’s party.

Trump has a proven record and no sane, reasonable person can argue that his policies weren’t highly effective. The hatred for him has everything to do with his anti-globalist populism. They fear him far more than they hate him. DeSantis has been a great Governor for Florida but navigating State politics is not the same as running the Executive branch of the Federal Government. Can he talk about foreign affairs? The military? Monetary strategy? Let’s see what he’s got. Trump can be a formidable adversary.

No other candidate can deliver on Trump's policies, other than Trump. Not even articulate them. Sure, he may be defeated in 2024, but he would go out on his shield, like a gladiator fighting in our behalf. In time, everyone will move on from Trump, but not yet.

This is like a new version of 2000, where the neocon, RINO cuckservatives of the republican party were pushing for McCain and were furious with the voters for ignoring their wishes. WE will decide who we want Cucks, not you.
