A higher percentage of eligible voters regularly show up to the polls in Mexico, Brazil, and Slovakia than in the world's pre-eminent and oldest democracy. (snip) Lots of non-voters, like one interviewed by NPR, don't feel like voting matters at all: "I feel like my voice doesn't matter[.] People who suck still are in office, so it doesn't make a difference."
Can the political system be reformed to counteract this widespread perception that participation is pointless? Here are potential remedies

When asked "How much did you pay in Taxes last year?" More than 50% Americans say "Nothing. I got a refund". Do you think these people even know the difference between voting and non-voting? Let alone it's impact/

Fraudsters who actually turn elections do it by depending on non-voters not voting.
All the fraudsters need to do is use their names and fake their votes.

I live in Maryland I am a Republican.
I can have my vote count in local elections for County Commissioners and the Sherriff, but any vote for a senator or Representative is a wasted effort. The Democrats have that locked up. Democrats control the area's around Washingon DC and Baltimore that are liberal and mostly Black, and populous the rest of the State may vote Republican, but there aren't enough of us

The demands of today's world limit people from actually researching and understanding Government in America. In addition, by use of massive media manipulation, the majority of those who vote have been conditioned to view politics as a football game between two teams. It is the excitement of the game, the sense of belonging to a team, the emotional high of idolizing a person they have never met, the sense of victory when there team scores. Unfortunately this is a con that has been played over and over on the American public. Choosing not to engage in this is not apathy. it it the realization that nothing will change without an upheaval of the current system and most people are adverse to violence,

4 meaningless 'remedies', no better or worse than other's. And the final solution is no solution. The masses are correct, their vote for federal and many/most state level politicians serves no purpose other than to make feel good. The last residential election began to expose the behind the scenes actions to manipulate the 'official' vote totals. When you are a billionaire and collaborate with others you have the resources to affect outcomes.

Our votes do not matter, because our money is not spent to elect the people that spend our money. Billions are spent by others to buy our elections and access trillions of dollars that can be directed to their companies, friends, and families. The investment pays for itself, and the voters get nothing, while providing all the money in the end.

Biden and the leftist Democrats are currently creating a massive new leftist Democrat foreign born constituency group that fits within minority group categories of Democrat identity politics, through their unlawful “open borders” scheme by allowing millions of third world illegal aliens to gain unlawful entry to the USA, under the fraudulent guise that untold numbers of third world populations, that could add up to over a billion poor, socialist oriented, and uneducated people, are eligible for asylum in the USA. That is being done by Biden and the leftist Democrats by simply ignoring or violating the immigration laws that were constitutionally passed by Congress. Such bogus “woke” leftist Democrat immigration policies are sustainable only if the objective is to permanently change both the electoral and population demographics of the USA into what amounts to a future minority-majority population that will favor the leftist and socialist Democrat political agenda and keep the leftist Democrats in controlling permanent political power.
At first those leftist Democrat immigration policy results will be felt after the next U.S. Census when all the illegal aliens allowed to unlawfully enter the USA and who are then unlawfully sojourning in the leftist Democrat sanctuary cities and areas, will be counted in that census by their presence alone. Resulting in a yet undetermined number of congressional seats to be redistricted into those leftist Democrat sanctuary cities and areas, where in will be almost a sure thing that leftist Democrat candidates will win the resulting elections for all of those newly moved congressional seats, no doubt ending up giving the leftist Democrats permanent majority control of the House of Representatives. You have to ask do the wimpy Republicans even have a clue!

1. The biggest danger is too many ignorant and/or unethical people voting.
2. The best way to solve the problem is to move everything that is the business of state and local governments away from the federal govt. and eliminate everything else in the federal govt. that is not the business of the federal govt.

I know exactly how you feel #3. We can vote for people in our county and have some success, but as far as Congressional or Senate representation, it's nutjob leftists or nobody. We still have Andy Harris, but the demosluts tried real hard to get him out in the last election.

I don’t know about other countries, but in Brazil voting is mandatory and has penalties attached to not voting. The result is that a lot of voters are ignorant of the issues and make poor choices. It’s why Brazil is headed the way of Venezuela now.
Not voting is also a choice, and it’s often the best one for a lot of potential voters.

I especially liked the third bullet item in Bartee's piece. Requiring our representatives and senators wearing the insignias of their corporate sponsors would be sweet. However, is it too late for this.

I am a registered Republican and have always voted a straight Republican ticket. I now live in the state where my chosen candidates both won re-election, went off to Washington and voted with the the Democrats on every important issue. I’m done.

I've always thought that those that don't vote probably shouldn't because they are ignorant about the candidates and issues, and I don't want them diluting my vote. The article's author suggests we have neutral observers determine whether classfied documents are related to national security seems logical on its face, but where does one find these neutral observers, and should they be looking at legit classified documents?
After the election theft of 2020, it is hard to argue that our votes count, and won't be erased by machines, or ballot manufacturing operations manned by evil democrats.

At what point will the fascist Democrats destruction of the economy with hyperinflation tip these people to vote against them? I work the polls in our inner city and I can say the Democrats in control have kept it a slum. But these voters are too stupid to make the connection and so what? Trump's fault! And he isn't the mayor and...he isn't in office!!!

Voting is a big business...and has been corrupted for to long....when JFK won by such a short margin...I questioned the outcome...one little county west of Chicago put him over the mark...and it took 50 years to find out the truth...no wonder Nixon was so upset about "so called" losing...he had really won....but the corrupt politicians decided the final outcome....I never liked JFK...but he didn't deserve his fate...and after all this time ...now WE know he was taken down by the establishment...CIA...the agent admitted it just before he died.....it was a triangular shot...from behind and on the grassy knoll and the overpass...he didn't have a chance...and when Bobby was going to run and expose the truth...he was taken down....
