Joe Biden was quick to pat himself on the back after the latest numbers from the Bureau of Economic Analysis showed that the U.S. economy grew by 2.9% in the fourth quarter of 2022 and 2.1% for the entire year.
“Last quarter, our economy grew at a 2.9% annual pace – solid growth, even as we continue to bring inflation down,” Biden tweeted. “Our economic plan worked. And it still is.”
But according to the Heritage Foundation, the latest report “should have alarm bells ringing, not trumpets sounding.”
“That’s because economic growth is slowing down,” explains research fellow EJ Antoni. “Even the areas which contributed positively to gross domestic product (GDP)

It has been three years since COVID-19 entered the scene. It probably emerged in the previous year based on COVID antibodies found in banked blood from the fall of 2019 and a severe non-influenza respiratory illness sweeping through ICUs in the early winter of 2019. In those days it was simply called the Chinese coronavirus, based on the reported origin but we still don’t know that for sure.
In fact, much of what we have been told about COVID over the past three years has turned out to be “misinformation”, as government, corporate media, and big tech described everything that went against their preferred COVID narrative. Who are the real deniers?

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse on Monday are demanding answers from Meta on the social media giant’s decision to reinstate former President Donald Trump to Facebook and Instagram, slamming the move as "inexplicable."
Meta, last week, announced it would end Trump’s suspension across its platforms, which began after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
In a blog post, Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta, said Trump’s suspension would be lifted "in the coming weeks."
But Schiff, D-Calif., and Whitehouse, D-R.I., are slamming Meta for its decision, saying the former president should not be reinstated. "Based on Meta’s previous statements on standards

As we reported earlier, Jill Biden was at the NFC Championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. But she wasn’t with Joe Biden. She was sitting with Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL.
Joe Biden went to their home in Wilmington on Sunday afternoon after spending most of the weekend in Camp David as I reported, raising questions as to why was he only going there for the evening when presumably he’s just heading back to the White House on Monday.
I’m surprised that she’s back given that she was booed the last time that she was there. That may explain why Joe Biden wouldn’t show up

According to a story published on Saturday, the scope of Joe Biden’s classified documents scandal may be bigger than previously thought. Sources close to the investigation say in addition to classified documents, the FBI also seized notebooks from Biden’s Wilmington, Del., home, which were reportedly written by Biden while he was vice president.
“The notebooks were seized because Biden’s notes on some of the pages relate to his official business as vice president, including details of his diplomatic engagements during the Obama administration, and may refer to classified information, this same person said,

“You teach it to a group of seniors at West Jordan High and they don’t tell their parents.”
Administrators, educators, and union officials in Utah were caught on video boasting about how they managed to keep teaching critical race theory or LGBTQ concepts to students, despite Utah’s bans on CRT in the classroom, according to a Jan. 27 tweet thread from Accuracy in Media. [Tweet] The Utah legislature passed two resolutions in May 2021 to ban CRT from schools, and the Utah Board of Education then approved similar restrictions in June 2021, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Which apparently hasn’t stopped the more zealous pro-CRT

The Twitter account for the Associated Press apologized for a recent tweet suggesting that "the French" was a "dehumanizing" term, acknowledging that it "caused unintended offense."
The AP official account tweeted Friday morning, "The use of ‘the French’ in this tweet by @AP was inappropriate and has caused unintended offense. An updated tweet is upcoming."
The original tweet that put the AP in hot water with social media users came from the @APStylebook account on Thursday. It suggested doing away with "dehumanizing ‘the’ labels," including "the poor" and, inexplicably, "the French." [Tweet] It read, "We recommend avoiding general and often dehumanizing ‘the’ labels such as the poor, the mentally ill,

Riots broke out in Memphis and are rapidly spreading through the usual urban areas. The purported rationale is the horrific beating to death in Memphis of Tyre Nichols captured on video and released by the police. As Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) observes, Nichols’ beating was administered by “Black officers in a majority Black city with a Black police chief.”
The officers involved have been criminally charged, but the media to which every Black killed by a cop is just proof that we are still in the Selma, Alabama world of decades ago -- another case of some innocent Black person victimized by racist oppressors.

Some people prefer to live among those similar to themselves. In select cases, it’s the only way they can feel safe. And now more than ever at the University of Houston, safety is served.
The school boasts an LGBTQ Resource Center, which lists a plethora of programs for those alphabetically inclined. Amid the offerings: a “Gender Diversity” residential area.
From the school’s Student Housing and Residential Life webpage: "The Gender Diversity LLC welcomes students of all gender identities and expressions who are seeking a safe, inclusive, comfortable, and supportive living environment. This may include students who identify as male, female, trans, gender non-conforming, and/or non-binary. Members are able to explore

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt told reporters Friday that he is baffled over how $12.7 million of his money has gone missing from a local private investment firm that authorities are investigating as part of a massive fraud that began more than a decade ago.
Bolt also said he has fired his business manager, adding that it was not an amicable split.
When asked if he was “broke,” the retired star athlete laughed.
“I’m not broke, but it’s definitely put a damper on me,” he said. “It was for my future. Everybody knows I have three kids. I’m still looking out for my parents,

In the realm of political talk shows, there’s nothing quite like “The View.” Let’s face it: Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and pretend-conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin combine for an hour of “entertainment” like no other on television.
From clueless unintentional comedy to outright rage, the ladies outright bring it, day after day, but in my not-so-humble opinion, the incisive brilliance of noted Mensa member Joy Behar is second to none, and her ultracrepidarian ability to pontificate on any subject imaginable at the drop of an ignorant hat is legendary.
Ms. Behar’s dazzling takedown of law-abiding gun owners on Wednesday’s episode of “The View” was a prime example

The year 2023 is shaping up to be the start of long period of destruction and renewal. The old global world is collapsing under the impact of the war in Ukraine, the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic, high energy prices, supply chain disruption, and a declining public confidence in authority. The coming year will see the demolition continue until perhaps the point is reached when it is simply easier to start over again.
In the aftermath of WW2 the old colonial empires, which had lasted hundreds of years up to 1945, simply collapsed and were replaced by a bipolar world divided between the U.S. and USSR. But there was an upside;
