To say that things are going badly at the network that created cable news is more than an understatement. It is approaching the point where hyperbole about how poorly CNN has been doing might be insufficient. Under the new ownership after the Warners-Discover merger, things have become dire. Many personalities have been dispatched (pour out some mango White Claw for Brian Stelter and Chris Cillizza…okay, pour it all out), shows and talent have been shuffled around, and they rapidly pulled the plug on the expensive debacle that was CNN+. As a sign of the tumult, it was announced last week that the network staff remaining in the CNN Center

A Georgia State Patrol trooper was shot today as police moved in to an area where protesters previously identified as domestic terrorists have been camping to prevent the construction of a new police training center. The individual who initiated the attack was shot and killed by police. (The image above is from a recent profile of this group but the identity of the shooter is still unknown).
Law enforcement officers helping conduct a “clearing operation” at the site of Atlanta’s planned public safety training center exchanged gunfire with a protester Wednesday morning, leaving the protester dead and a state trooper wounded, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Gov. Ron DeSantis says he's seeking to protect Florida from the "biomedical security state," by permanently banning COVID-19 vaccines and masks. "It required us over the past few years to stand against major institutions in our society: The bureaucracy, the medical establishment, legacy media and even the President of the United States who, together, were working to impose a biomedical security state on society." DeSantis said while speaking at the Todd Herendeen Theater in Panama City Beach.
If approved by lawmakers, DeSantis' efforts will permanently restrict the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and mask rules in schools and prevents public and private employers from hiring and firing

Representative Greg Steube (R., Fla.) was injured in an accident on Wednesday, according to a statement posted from the congressman’s Twitter account.

He has served on the House Judiciary and House Foreign Affairs Committees.
Before he was elected to the U.S. Congress, he served for two years

A JetBlue plane headed to Puerto Rico clipped another aircraft, which was empty, at JFK Airport Wednesday, building on the chaos that nearly ensued days earlier at the same airport.
“JetBlue Flight 1603 struck the tail of a parked JetBlue aircraft while pushing back from the gate around 7 a.m. at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement. “The flight was going to Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Both aircraft were Airbus 320. No injuries were reported, and the FAA will investigate,” the agency added. JetBlue spokesman Derek Dombrowski confirmed

Is there a Democrat civil war brewing over the presidency?
One is tempted to think so, given how many damaging stories are suddenly showing up in the news just after it dropped that Joe Biden was preparing to announce his reelection bid.
While the classified documents story is still heating up, CNN suddenly discovered that the Biden family is filled with corrupt influence peddlers.
Who knew? There were no indications. Not a hint of anything like that. Joe gave us his “word as a Biden” that everything was on the up and up, and the media up until now scoffed at the idea that anything could be wrong. Indeed, Chuck Todd just insulted

The Justice Department on Tuesday asked an appeals court to reverse an April 2022 ruling that overturned the CDC’s public transportation mask mandate.
Appearing before a three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, Justice Department lawyer Brian Springer argued that the CDC should have the authority to declare universal mask requirements during a public-health crisis, such as the COVID pandemic. It is necessary “to prevent the possible infections and deaths that could result if people didn’t do the simple thing of just putting on a mask while they were traveling,” Springer argued, according to Reuters.

Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) said during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that the United States will continue funding Ukraine until it wins its conflict with Russia and that it will liberate “Europe” just like America did during World War II.
“I do believe regardless of any discussion or doubts of the $100 billion that we have donated or given to the Ukrainians to defend themselves, we will at the end vote or at least my vote to secure to continue to with the Ukrainians until they win,” Salazar said at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. “We’re going to liberate Europe in 2023,

I have a secret to share: I think both the Trump and Biden classified document scandals are big fat nothingburgers.
It’s not that I don’t think classified documents are important, or that they shouldn’t be protected, or anything like that. If anybody outside the elite of the elite did what these guys did they would be toast.
But at this level? Does anybody think that a former VP or President isn’t a walking classified document already? These guys write their own rules, for good or ill. If either of them wanted to blow the whistle on anything nobody could stop them. Hillary Clinton did much worse

In 2004, Roy Disney — Walt’s nephew — summoned Disney shareholders to the company’s annual meeting, asking them to oust then-chairman and CEO Michael Eisner, who had been running the place for 20 years. Roy had Walt’s face and his “Save Disney” movement brought emotional Disney-loving individual shareholders of all ages to chilly Philadelphia, some leaning on canes and others with babies in strollers. After a stunning 43 percent voted against re-electing Eisner to the board, a new chairman was named immediately and Eisner, despite vowing to remain as CEO until the end of his contract in 2006, departed in 2005. At age 80, Nelson Peltz is

Microsoft is preparing to announce job cuts tomorrow. Sky News reports that thousands of roles will be cut, with the software giant said to be looking at cutting around 5 percent of its workforce. With more than 220,000 employees at Microsoft, that could mean more than 10,000 layoffs.
While Sky News doesn’t name an exact date for the expected cuts, a source familiar with Microsoft’s plans tells The Verge that the company will likely announce layoffs on Wednesday, ahead of its quarterly earnings next week.
Bloomberg is also reporting that a number of layoffs will be announced in Microsoft’s engineering divisions tomorrow. The job cuts are said to be “significantly larger” than
