Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday he had appointed a special counsel to investigate how classified documents ended up at an office President Biden used at his namesake think tank in Washington, DC, and his home in Delaware.
Republicans called on Garland to name a special counsel to examine whether the Obama-era documents were mishandled by Biden following revelations this week that a box containing classified documents were discovered in a locked closet in an office the president used at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement on Nov. 2, just days before the midterm elections.

President Joe Biden confirmed Thursday classified documents were discovered in his garage at his Delaware home, but did not explain why.
“By the way, the Corvette is in a locked garage. OK? It’s not like they’re sitting out in the street,” he said when asked by reporters about the revelation of a second group of classified documents found at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
Biden’s prized Corvette has been used by the White House to promote the president’s agenda.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was grilled on the question of the classified documents found at Joe Biden’s Penn Biden office. I don’t think they’d even heard yet that even more documents had been found.
But it did not go over well for Jean-Pierre, particularly the grilling on why the American people hadn’t been told when the first set of documents was found back on November 2, shortly before the election.

Consumer prices decreased 0.1 percent in December according to the latest read of the Consumer Price Index released on Thursday morning, but still advanced 6.5 percent over the last 12 months, in line with Wall Street expectations for the latest report on the costs paid by Americans,
As the Bureau of Labor Statistics explained in its release of December's CPI, the index for gasoline was "by far the largest contributor to the monthly all items decrease" — a volatile index that is not expected to remain on a downward trajectory as spring and summer approach.

Shortly after the House passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act on Wednesday, which requires doctors to provide care for babies born alive after failed abortion attempts, senior Democrat lawmakers blew up Twitter in an apoplectic meltdown, declaring the bill “extreme” — and then some.
As Fox News reported, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Vice President Kamala Harris, and of course former Speaker Nancy Pelosi — the “very religious person” who has referred to on-demand late-term abortion as “sacred ground” — were among the most histrionic.
Here’s a bit of background on the bill, via Fox:

Illinois Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker signed legislation Tuesday banning the manufacture or possession of dozens of rapid-fire rifles and pistols, .50-caliber guns, and some attachments, which went into effect immediately.
Pritzker signed the “Protect Illinois Communities Act” into law during a ceremony at the State Capitol in Springfield hours after House Democrats secured the final passage less than a day after Senate Democrats approved the measure.
“It’s been quite a past 24 hours,” Pritzker said, according to local media.

Americans should be “insulted” President Joe Biden received praise during his trip to Mexico for suspending former President Donald Trump’s border policies, three former Trump officials who led migration-related bodies told the Daily Caller.
Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador, who has a history of speaking out against Republicans cracking down on illegal migration, talked to Biden about migration issues on Tuesday at the North American Leaders’ Summit, and thanked him for not building “even one meter of wall” despite pleas from Republicans.

On Wednesday Joe Biden told reporters he was “a professor” at Penn after he left office in 2017.
This came after news broke that classified documents were found in a closet at the Penn Biden Center, linked to Joe Biden, in November before the 2022 election.

According to the RNC — This is at least the 17th time Biden has told this lie since he became president. Biden was never a “professor.” Biden and his associates raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars to essentially do nothing while millions in anonymously earmarked Chinese

Former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden following the revelation that he was stashing classified documents at the University of Pennsylvania, which is reported to have accepted millions of dollars in mysterious donations from China.
Trump speculated that China could have had access to the classified information because the Penn Biden Center reportedly received $54 million in anonymous Chinese donations between 2014 and 2019.
“Biden’s documents are HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL, many pertain to UKRAINE, where Hunter was ‘raking in the dough,’ and FUNDED BY CHINA, which gave $55 Million to Biden, through Penn, and probably had easy access,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

After a chaotic start, Republicans finally earned one of their first wins of the 118th Congress on Wednesday as they used their new majority to approve two measures aimed at protecting unborn lives and pro-life facilities.
The first measure passed condemns attacks on anti-abortion abortion facilities, including crisis pregnancy centers that do not offer abortions but do offer other services to expecting mothers.
A second separate bill that passed the House Wednesday imposes new penalties on doctors if they refuse to administer care to infants born alive following abortion attempts.

Hunter Biden walked up to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) at the White House state dinner honoring French President Emmanuel Macron last month and commented on the appearance of McCarthy’s 82-year-old mother, according to a report.
President Biden’s son was among the first of the guests to arrive at the lavish function, and among the few other early arrivals was McCarthy and his mother Roberta, according to a New York Times report on Wednesday. Despite the California Republican’s vows to investigate Hunter and his father, the first son and his wife approached McCarthy and his mother and the two men shook hands, according to the news outlet.

Rep. Jerry Nadler argued on the House floor that taking babies to the hospital who survive the abortion procedure “endangers” the baby.
Democrats prefer the abortion doctor let the baby bleed out on the table.
Rep. Jerry Nadler: The problem with this bill is not that it makes anything , its not that it provides any new protection for infants. The problem with this bill is it endangers some infants in saying that infant must immediately be brought to the hospital. Where depending on the circumstances that may be the right thing to do for the health and survival of that infant. Or it may not.
