A federal agency may look to ban gas stoves over concern about the release of pollutants that can cause health and respiratory problems, according to a new report.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is set to open public comment on the dangers of gas stoves sometime this winter. The commission could set standards on emissions from the gas stoves, or even look to ban the manufacture or import of the appliances, commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. told Bloomberg News.
“This is a hidden hazard,” Trumka told the outlet. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”

I want to hear from all those woke "celebrity" chefs out there about having their gas stoves taken away. NO WAY they'll cook on electric ranges!

1) According to a 2020 report by the NFPA, households with electric stoves reported fires at a rate 2.6 times higher than those with gas stoves. Equally staggering, the death rate of electric-run households was 3.4 times higher than those with gas appliances — and the injury rate was nearly five times greater.
2) it takes 3x as much fuel to heat an electric stove than a gas stove.

Except for the gas stoves at their favorite DC restaurants of course because no self respecting chef would ever cook on an electric stove. PS electric stoves run off the same power plants as electric cars. Electric cars burn better.

The idea that ANYONE with the name Trumka, would be a qasi-governmental "Commissioner" of anything is part of the reason this country is sooooo screwed.

They will be going after wood heating stoves next. How about solar panels that AREN'T hooked into the grid. Yeah, I bet those are filled with carcinogens or maybe they hurt the environment. Any made up excuse will do. Anything that allows you to be more independent and to produce your own heat or electric without being hooked into the grid will be outlawed for our "safety." How long until we have centrally control thermostats in our homes? Your city "managers" get to decide how warm or cool your house can be. A balmy 80 in the summer and 60 in the winter. Businesses are already doing centralized thermostats. Pain in the butt during season changes when the overlords are in a totally different part of the country. And hey, do you lights and TV really need to be on past 11pm. Our betters will certainly let us know.
But hey, Jimmy Carter said to just put on a sweater!

I wonder if those agency bureaucrats work in an environment where, if they don't come up with new regulations, they risk not being promoted. An environment similar to academia where the mantra is "Publish or perish." The EPA has to justify its existence.

Banning appliances has nothing to do with pollution. It has everything to do with "kill switches." Government will be able to use the kill switch mandated in cars starting 2026 to stop you dead in your tracks wherever you are. Making all appliance be electric means they can turn off your water heater, cook stove, or anything else at any time. There will be no options for backup for everyday citizens.
Electricity goes out - you have no heat, no way to warm food or keep it cool, no way to travel to shelter, and co communication. In the wrong hands, this can be used to kill out individuals or entire areas with the flip of one switch.
Now, do you feel as comforted by this as I do? I suspect so.

"However, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers argues that cooking produces harmful emissions regardless of the kind of stove used". So not only do they want you eating bugs/maggots they want you to eat them raw. Dear Lord, please tell the FJB Administration to leave us the hell alone. I am tired of stupid.

Sooooo…then everyone should cook with electric stoves, even though that will significantly add stress on the power grid? But no, we won’t have to worry at all about any kind of stove when they have their way. We’ll be eating bugs and leaves and won’t have to cook at all!

Gas stoves work fine when the electricity is out, which is often with Biden no energy policy. Gas also provide heat, when the windmills are frozen, and there is no electricity.

Soooooo...... I should just start shopping for a solar powered stove and grill? Which all of the EVs out there, there won't be enough electricity to cook with grid electric.
First they demanded low flow shower heads, then they screwed around with the soap, giving us soap that won't clean and leaves a residue. Then they went after toilets, and now we have to flush, and not because its a punch line. Then the washers and dishwashers. What too 20 minutes to wash 10 years ago now takes 4 hours. Then the went after our refrigerators, so now you can't buy any appliance that's worth a crap for less than a grand. Then they forced us to convert to fluorescent lights, where any breakage required a hazmat team to clean it up. Followed by LED lighting at 10 times the cost.
Is it any wonder that kids are living with their parents until their 30's.

FTA “'The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and EPA do not present gas ranges as a significant contributor to adverse air quality or health hazard in their technical or public information literature, guidance, or requirements,” Karen Harbert, the group’s president, told the outlet. “The most practical, realistic way to achieve a sustainable future where energy is clean, as well as safe, reliable and affordable, is to ensure it includes natural gas and the infrastructure that transports it.’"

It is not about the virtues of chefs cooking with gas or electric. It is about turning off your power to cook anything when they want to. Get it?

Yet another government agency trying to justify their existence by coming up with more rules and regulations. The solution is to disband the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
