Senate Democrats are not calling on the Department of Justice to bring charges against former President Trump for his actions in the lead-up to and during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, despite a recommendation from the House panel investigating the unprecedented event.
While members of the House Jan. 6 select committee are ramping up pressure on federal prosecutors to indict Trump, Senate Democrats are taking a more cautious approach, with some arguing there’s a “high bar” for prosecuting a former president.
“I think you should be careful about prosecuting former presidents. I think it’s OK to have a high bar

You betcha. Be very, very afraid. Drop that bar and it’s open season on presidents present and past. Clinton, Obama, Biden. Whoopee!!! Fun City. Digging around through Everything. And full media disclosure. Yup. Bring it on. You broke it. You own it.

If the DOJ prosecutes President Trump, it won't be a Soviet-style "dog and pony trial" like the House Committee was.
Trump will be able to call witnesses (like Nasty Nancy Pelosi) and introduce real evidence (something the Jan 6th Committee feared and ignored). Trump would easily be cleared, and the Demon-Rats would end up looking like the vile and evil Communists that they truly have become
So the DOJ won't prosecute. The Jan 6th Committee will get to claim that Trump was "guilty" but the government didn't have the "guts" to try him. Trump will get to gloat some more. And we get to swallow the fact that millions and millions of our tax dollars were wasted for the latest nothing-burger persecution of Donald Trump!!!

With all respect to #1, not sniffing. Digging. Investigating. Subpenaing witnesses, bank records, documents, etc. Prosecuting where necessary. The Supremes have said tax returns are fair game. If I were the aforementioned in just #2, I’d be having a very nervous Christmas...

It is about time these SOBs figure out that their persecution of Trump isn't playing well with anyone but their rabid base. The rest of us see what they're doing to Trump and know they could just as easily do it to us. The FBI is an American Stasi.

Once adjudication starts, discovery is ordered, the entire house of cards could come down. Going back well beyond 2020. That’s what they are really afraid of.

The select committee report is all the haters really were after. None of the charges are real and they know it. Still the media will use the report like its the Bible and treated as if its Gosple.

Obviously there was nothing criminal in Trump ‘s tax returns that were prepared by expert tax accountants and lawyers. So what do the Democrat do, release the tax returns to the public to try to embarrass Trump and give Democrat tax accountants and lawyers room to nitpick at Trump’s tax returns during the run up to the 2024 election. It’s all political. The Democrat did create a legal and political precedent, so it is up to the wimpy Republicans to drum up the intestinal fortitude to do a “turnabout is fair play” deal to obtain Biden’s, Obama’s, Clinton’s and maybe Pelosi’s tax returns, scrutinize them, and make them public.

They should. When Trump gets his second term as POTUS there will be heads exploding all over the country and the people who hated him most will be in danger of serious bodily malfunctions.

The first witness during the trial will be Pelosi and the first question will be ' why did
you refuse President Trump's request for 10K National Guard to be present at the Capital on Jan 6 ' ; the next statement will be the 'persecution' attorney stating they want to drop the prosecution.
