Does Trump Really Want To Be President Again?

Team Trump has sometimes compared former President Donald Trump's current quest for a non-sequential second term to two-term President Grover Cleveland's similar three election bids.
Cleveland remains our only elected president (1884) to have lost a reelection bid (1888) -- in a disputed vote -- only to be reelected four years later in 1892.
Yet Trump seems determined instead to follow a different, and bullheaded, Teddy Roosevelt model.
Roosevelt left the presidency in 1908, sat out four years, and then lost a reelection bid in 1912, split and alienated the Republican Party, and ensured the election of the progressive Woodrow Wilson.

Hanson has been a staunch Trump supporter. A great part of this article is what amounts to a bullet point list of Trump’s extraordinary accomplishment. Hanson questions why Trump, with this fine record to run on, lets himself indulge in trivia that causes his own undermining. This article amounts to a memo to Trump from a friend.

As a huuuuge POTUS DJT supporter I must say I’m not impressed with his 2024 rollout. I hoped and expected that there would be a “New Trump” similar to the “New Nixon”. A pivot away from what the public had grown to dislike into a candidate who knew what rubbed his supporters and detractors the wrong way and readjusted. Just a bit of fine tuning and avoiding the name calling would go a long way. To be sure the man was cheated and
hounded out of a second term. He has every right to be angry and feel betrayed but he’ll get
nowhere if he doesn’t stop the nicknames and name calling. Our country’s future survival is at stake. He must laser focus on how he’ll fix the decimation of these past two years. He/we
caught lightning in a bottle in ‘16 and 8 years later a different approach is needed.

Hanson’s article is short and to the point. President Trump should read it in the spirit it was written. Trump has wasted two years concentrating on the 2020 steal. That’s backward looking. Trump needs to be forward looking. I don’t know if he has enough time to show the voters that he can right this country. No more drama!

Trump has said he is running. I take that to mean he wants to be president. The Democrats, Rino's are all on board with their never ending never trump attacks. These are the same contemptible people that stole the 2020 election, and deserve no regard.

So many are now saying that DeSantis is their guy. But wait, what is his position on China, trade, NATO, etc.? What is he promising to fat cat donors?
I think VDH is right on as usual. But think, does the Florida Gov. really have fire in the belly? Does he have the skill set? Or does he represent a return to the GOPe with a few PR tweaks? I will vote for Trump.

I agree with #2. Is it that hard for President Trump to ignore the good he did and still concentrate only on being cheated out of his second term? We shall see in the coming months.

Asking Trump to grow up now is stupid! He can’t and he won’t! He will complain about his last election constantly for the next two years! He can’t help it! I’m done with him! We must look forward, not back! He is killing the conservative movement with his total lack of national leadership!

Until the Republicans find a solution to ballot harvesting, it does not matter who runs against the Democrats.

Let's face it; our side is very stupid. We know a lot about a lot of things, and we're mostly right about law and morality. Execution is our problem. We've been asleep for so long, we can't get our joints moving. If you got the most votes in history but a low-life, senile fool stole those results and that election from you, would you just move on? If you answer yes to that question, you're lying. We all deserve some git-back for 2020. People are locked away with no one to save them because they tried to peaceably fight these demons. That senile old fool is now destroying our country as if he was truly elected, and we settle for there's nothing we can do. Don't take out your frustrations on Trump. This isn't all on him. It's on US! We don't know what to do. At least Trump is running his mouth and doing so publicly, putting his life and everything he's earned on the line. They are trying to completely destroy him! And, some of you are still worried about him saying mean things. We say we want a fighter, but when we get one, we tell him to stand down. Come onnnnnnn!

Everyone on here knows I am a Trump supporter but I am not stupid and I want to win. If Trump truly wants to win, he will take the advice of VDH. He has what it takes to win more than any politician I have ever known. However, the quirks that make him Trump are working against him and if he cannot see that, he will lose big time. It’s not a hard thing that we are asking. It’s up to him. I really believe in his policies but I have to agree, he has to stop the unforced errors. Turn over a new leaf and buckle down and fight the good fight without the shenanigans that are so off putting.

What difference does it make if we have the very best candidate for an office if the election process is so malformed that it is impossible to have an honest result. (I will say that it is really disheartening to believe that so many people in our country are perfectly fine with cheating in an election; we are becoming scarily third-world.) Anyone who really cares about this country knows that the present election process should be done away with and replaced with an ethical system, but it will never happen until we understand how warped are our priorities. We need Divine Intervention.

Could absolutely not agree more!!!!!!! And I was a two time Trump voter (as was the reasonable, honorable Hanson). I look at poster #1 and it echoes again Trump's comment that he could shoot someone dead on 5th Ave. and still not lose the votes of his non-wavering no matter what base, only that base is smaller every day, Not only can Trump not win again, as his consistent rants turn off Independents and actual Trump voters who agreed with him as President, but he seems intent on shattering the Party in the process. I always feared he would start his own Bull Moose Party, and see the seeds of it in all he is doing lately. The reasonable businessman who fought the swamp (and there is NO doubt they are out to get him still) will take us all down with him, and that seems ok to him. There was an old George M. Cohen play: "I'd Rather be Right Than President." What Trump does NOT see is that, because of his behavior, (plus the fact that he gave none of his own $ to his candidates---look it up!) he is NOT right. And does not care if we all go to H----!

So far Trump’s campaign rollout has read more like a tabloid than a national news story. There is a long way to go before the next election. I’m going to wait and observe. A lot will happen between now and then.

I agree with #18. Two years is a long time. If Trump has shown one thing - other than delivering the most effective four years in the last few generations - is that he is a fast learner. Let us hope he has drawn the right lessons from 20/22. One thing looks certain at this point. Without Trump, Republicans are a spent force. it will be a no contest against the 0bama/Soros/Zuckerberg juggernaut (who) will blast them out of the water.

Agree completely! Keep wondering how a man who made so many wise decisions during his presidency, and brought about extraordinary actions on every front, does not realize or care how destructive his ‘off-the-wall’ words and statements are. With all the successes he had and brought about, thousands and probably millions more would be his admiring voters. His out of control rhetoric is a slap in the face to all of us who supported and voted for him. He is - in a sense - destroying our hopes and dreams for another Trump victory.

Trump doesn't want to be president. He never did. What he is striving to do is return a corrupt country back into a constitutional republic. And, by the way, it is disingenuous to claim he wants to change the constitution. He never suggested such a thing. That is simply a current narrative that is being indulged in right now. One positive effect of his saying that removing vast political corruption can be done within the bounds of the constitution is that the simpleton Democrats immediately jumped on the bandwagon in declaring that Biden might just suspend the constitution. Once again Trump is successful in baiting the hollow heads!. He was stating a fact, not an intention to ignore the constitution.
The media is having some short-term, limited, success in denigrating Trump, but his coming successes in restoring the country will bring praise for his actions. Hanson's sensibilities may be offended by some of the tactics of the restoration war. Trump does everything with purpose, with objectives. He is effectively still the Commander in Chief. What he does, he does out of love of country. He is not a small person who is seeking self benefits. He is sacrificing himself for his country and his countrymen. The only other president in my lifetime that appeared to be on the side of the people was Reagan. The others, and especially Clinton and Obama, were totally self-absorbed. Those two made everything personal.
Trump is being badly misjudged by armchair generals who lack awareness of the need to fight fire with fire. Trump is way ahead of the vast dishonourable army who seek absolute power. WWII would not have been won if Americans had kowtowed to effete sensibilities. Now is the time to fight back. Surrender is not an option. Should everyone just concede to stolen elections, money laundering, and other crimes and just move on??

Trump emotionally turns off far too many voters for him or candidates associated with him to win a general election, and it can't be turned around at this point. The evidence from the mid-terms is clear (NH, PA, GA, AZ, NV, etc.). A high percentage of Independents and women went against Trump supported candidates. In addition, his support among Republicans is hemoraging. Making things even worse is the fact that Trump is the best "get out the vote" program the Dems have. The hate him and will crawl through glass to vote against Trump. He seems willing to go over the cliff and take the Republican Party and conservative movement with him. His stubborn ego is a big part of the problem, and that's not going to change. We are going to lose a lot more races we should win unless Trump leaves the political stage.

The best plans go awry when confronted by reality. And for the PDT Dead Enders there is no Plan B. Like every President the Trump Administration was a mixed bag of success and failure. For every Peace in the Middle East is his "management" of COVIDS, including his vaccines, and the expenditure of $14 TRILLION in handouts and other crisis-related projects. (BIden takes the blame for our current inflation, while that mad spending is conveniently subtracted from the equation.)
Toss in four years of drama, two impeachments, and two years of venting personal anger over an election that was most likely stolen in six Republican-led states...and many previous supporters are considering alternatives. Toss in his most recent imbroglios with YE and that other "white supremacist' knucklehead, his dissing of DeSantis, and apparent self-serving calls to suspend the laws and Constitution to declare him victor in '20 and reinstate his presidency...what's news? He may be proven right about all his charges...and no one cares. Those expecting some great public awakening soon are destined for disappointment. The UNIPARTY isn't letting him get off the floor.
The Trump cultists need to think practically beyond blind loyalty to a man. Maybe he'll win the nomination. Maybe he won't. And what happens if he doesn't? Going to sit out and sulk? Teach this country a lesson? Four more (perhaps 40 more) years of Biden-Harris-Newsome in the White House. Remember the lesson of Ross Perot...and the continuing damage the criminal Arkie Clintons and their cabal did and do.

At this point, I am more worried about the deep divisions developing within the party. McConnell, Ryan, and other establishment Republicans will try to force their candidate down our throats. Conversely, we have Donald Trump. I am predisposed to oppose any candidate for President supported by the establishment in a general election.

Trump losing supporters? Really? If someone is so weak and sensitive about his words you have a choice in 2024 vote for the democrat or don't vote for Trump, stay home. Trump is proven I'm all in and not going anywhere. If in the next two years ballot harvesting isn't outlawed Trump will never see the inside of the White House ever. Democrat selections will rule the day from then on.

In the midterms, nobody worked harder than Trump. And who had a better win-loss percentage for their endorsees?
Some battles have to be fought most fiercely behind-the-scenes. And war frequently requires skilled code-talkers. I respect VDH, but his forest view is currently obscured by some very large trees. In due time, he’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn what President Trump has done for the American Republic and for freedom and prosperity around the globe.

Amazing the number of Doomers moving in here....
The forces of 'spectre' are trashing the US , global, and individual economies. If PDJT remains in God's hands--he will remain the one who
can fix it--after which all other matters will fall into place.
De Santis is a good and talented man who was able to clean up the hot mess that was his state [remember Flori-duh?]; thus, he was able to
win there, without too much flak from the weffy villains w/ the diamond -studded cats.
That definitely makes RDS an experienced self=protective politican .
Men of God say all kinds of things, regardless of the provocative fall out. They must consider and consent to God's will and Divine Plan to take
up a cross of global persecution, for the sake of all persons of Good Will.
Even the Christ didn't want that. Nor did His Holy Mother, or His stepfather, St Joseph. They assented, nonetheless.
We are seeing other Godly persons step up as well, here-and elsewhere- throughout these treacherous decades.
