The Minneapolis City Council’s budget committee, last week, approved cutting slightly more than $1 million from the police department budget, which is less than 1% of MPD’s $195 million overall proposed budget starting in 2023.
Of that $1 million shift, more than a half-million could go toward a Lake Street Safety Center, auto theft prevention and community safety projects.
Groups such as 21 Days of Peace, employ so-called violence interrupters..

A federal judge has approved a settlement agreement between the city of Minneapolis and a dozen protesters who were hurt during the demonstrations that followed George Floyd’s murder.
The agreement was formally proposed three weeks ago and was accepted by U.S. District Judge Katherine Menendez on Wednesday.
Under the terms of the agreement, the injured protesters will split a $600,000 payment from the city, which also will have to implement several reforms.

Sam Brinton, one of the first “openly genderfluid individuals in federal government leadership,” was charged with felony theft last month after allegedly stealing a woman’s luggage at MSP Airport.

The last conversation Sandra Torres had with her 10-year-old daughter was about her nervous excitement over whether she’d make the all-star softball team. Hours later, Eliahna Torres was one of 19 children and two teachers massacred at their elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
With little closure and few answers about law enforcement’s 77-minute wait on May 24 in the school hallway rather than confronting the gunman, Sandra Torres filed a federal lawsuit on Monday against police, the school district and the maker of the gun the shooter used.

It was early Wednesday morning when Leigh Finke returned home in St. Paul after the campaign victory party.
Representative-Elect Finke won 81% of the vote in the Minnesota House District 66A race.
“To have that many people come out, and that many people support a first-time trans candidate, it’s really humbling,” said Finke. “It’s really an honor, it’s really exciting.”
The 2023 legislative session will feature a historic class of LGTBQ Minnesotans.

With infinite reluctance and lingering disbelief, what calls itself the progressive media is starting to concede the outlines of the overwhelming rejection the Democrats, the Biden administration, and Congress have earned and are likely to sustain next week.
Progressive for these purposes is a bedraggled coalition of elements that are no longer comfortable with each other: the militantly anti-white African Americans, the “woke” pseudo-academic America-haters, and what’s left of the tired old Joe Biden-style Democratic machine establishment.

All indications now are that the Democrats are finally about to pay for using Trump hate as a substitute for governing for two years, just as for four years prior to that they used Trump hate as a substitute for normal opposition.
The entire fabric of myths, frauds, and defamations that the national political media have conveniently held up as a safety net for the Democratic Party and this terribly incompetent administration is about to disappear, and the Democrats will finally carry the can for 14 years of incompetence and venality—

Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith announced bipartisan legislation Tuesday to rename a Federal Building in downtown Minneapolis in honor of the late Sen. Paul Wellstone. The senators say they are pushing for the name to be changed to the Paul D. Wellstone Federal Building.
The announcement comes on the 20th anniversary of the plane crash that killed Sen. Wellstone, his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia and campaign aides Tom Lapic, Will McLaughlin, Mary McEvoy, and two pilots.
