Shanghai’s Disneyland Resort abruptly closed Monday to comply with China’s strict COVID-19 protocols, leaving visitors stranded inside the theme park.
The resort broke the news at 11:39 a.m. local time Monday, or 11:39 p.m. ET Sunday, that it would immediately shut the main theme park and surrounding areas, including its shopping street, until further notice to comply with virus curbs. All guests were directed to stay inside the park until they returned a negative test for the virus.
“Following the pandemic control measures per government guidelines, Shanghai Disneyland temporarily closed today,” a Disney spokesperson told The Post on Monday. “The COVID testing process was expedited and all guests have exited the park.”

The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a request from Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to quash a grand jury subpoena in a Georgia prosecutor’s probe into alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election.
The decision is a victory for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, whose office is investigating phone calls Graham made to Georgia election officials at a time when then-President Donald Trump was contesting the result. As a result of the court action, the subpoena can now be enforced, although Graham could refuse to answer questions by invoking his right against self-incrimination under the Constitution's Fifth Amendment.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts granted a stay, temporarily blocking former President Trump from having to turn over his tax records to Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee.
Trump and his legal team on Monday filed asking the Supreme Court to block the release of his tax records.
The House Ways and Means Committee first requested six years of Trump's tax returns in 2019. "Upon consideration of the application of counsel for the applicants, it is so ordered that the mandate of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, case No. 21-5289, is hereby stayed

Has Ukraine gotten into position to liberate Kherson and cut off Russian communications with Crimea? Moscow announced overnight that their forces, which had already displaced civilians on the western bank of the Dnipro near Kherson, would now evacuate civilians within 15 kilometers from the eastern bank as well.
Vladimir Putin’s spinmeisters tried selling this as a move to a stronger defensive and protection against a WMD attack. This forced evacuation in reality strongly suggests that Russia expects to get pushed across the river and needs to set up a run for it:
Russia ordered civilians to leave a sliver of Ukraine along the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, a major extension

Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin takes the lead in the New York gubernatorial race in his attempt to oust Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, according to a Trafalgar Group poll published late Monday night.
The poll found that of the 1,198 likely general election voters, 48.4 percent would vote for the Zeldin, while 47.6 percent would vote for Hochul. With four percent undecided, Zeldin leads the Democrat incumbent by less than a point and within the margin of error.
The Trafalgar Group poll sampled the 1,198 likely general election voters from October 27 to 31, with a 2.9 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level. The poll’s respondents were 53.6 percent Democrats, 27.5 percent Republican

Okay, let’s admit it. We’re rapidly reaching overkill on stories involving Elon Musk buying Twitter and the resulting liberal dogpanic. Me, I’d rather listen to some music. However, this one is too good to pass up noting. From Bloomberg: Twitter Inc., the social network being overhauled by new owner Elon Musk, has frozen some employee access to internal tools used for content moderation and other policy enforcement, curbing the staff’s ability to clamp down on misinformation ahead of a major US election.
Most people who work in Twitter’s Trust and Safety organization are currently unable to alter or penalize accounts that break rules around misleading information,

Democrats have been trying desperately to come up with a winning narrative to fend off a red wave in the midterm elections next week, but according to the voters, they’ve failed to make the case. According to a new poll from the Trafalgar Group in conjunction with Convention of States Action, two-thirds of voters say Democrats haven’t convinced them to vote Democrat in the midterms, and a majority of voters (over 80%) believe that the Republicans will take over one or both houses of Congress.
Only 34% of Americans think Biden and the Democratic Party leadership have made a convincing argument for why they should vote for Democratic candidates in 2022.

After a brief period of time over the summer where Democrats saw a little bit of a bump in their overall polling numbers and a slight momentum shift in their direction in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, their hopes and dreams of a “comeback” of sorts ahead of the crucial midterm elections collided with some brutal reality checks. For starters, President Joe Biden’s approval numbers came crashing down to earth. Independent voters reasserted themselves as well, with Biden hitting new lows among that key voting bloc, with independents also expressing disapproval with his emphasis on abortion over kitchen table issues like inflation and the economy

I’ve been looking for tea leaves to read in connection with the midterm elections next week. The Twitter feed of Interactive Polls links to the Wall Street Journal poll reported here in today’s paper. (The tweet links to an accessible version of the story here.)
The poll was conducted by Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio and Democratic pollster John Anzalone. I trust that when commissioned by the Wall Street Journal, they take their partisan hats off or that the combination of the two does it for them.
The tweet highlights this tea leaf: “The GOP has seen a shift in its favor among several voter groups, including Latino voters and

Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has tested positive for COVID-19 again after completing a round of the coronavirus antiviral treatment Paxlovid.
Walensky tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month, going into isolation and taking “appropriate action” for her health. On Monday, the CDC said Walensky had experienced “mild symptoms” during her infection and eventually tested negative for the virus after completing a round of Paxlovid.
“On Sunday, Dr. Walensky began to develop mild symptoms and has again tested positive. Consistent with CDC guidelines, she is isolating

Even the meanest of intellects can see that something like a Narrative™ exists. Sometimes we call it “the current thing.” Some call it the “hive mind.” The edgier on the internet refer to the “non-player characters” (NPCs), comparing the people apparently mindlessly parroting the accepted Narrative™ as if they are pre-programmed characters in a video game. As if they have no will of their own.
It’s impossible not to notice, though. When certain issues come up, anybody deviating from a certain position is viciously attacked and “cancelled.” The enforcers come from a certain economic or social class (“The Elite™), and while everybody can be victimized, the people most vulnerable

Monday, the US Supreme Court held five hours of arguments over the fate of “affirmative action” in higher education admissions. At the end of the marathon session, it seemed apparent that either affirmative action is dead, or at least it will be “pining for the fjords” when this decision is handed down around June 2023. At issue are two cases where universities use racial preferences to manage the melanin level of their student body (Supreme Court Adds Two New Education Affirmative Action Cases to its Docket and the Left Cries ‘Armageddon’). The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill is a state university that uses race
