The Justice Department announced federal charges against David DePape, 42, in the attack last Friday on Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), at the couple’s San Francisco home.
Kristinn Taylor reported on the announcement earlier.
DePape is being charged with assault on a family member of a U.S. official and one count of attempted kidnapping of a U.S. official, Nancy Pelosi, who was not home at the time.

Incumbent Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro counted truckers among his most fervent supporters in Sunday’s presidential election.
The truckers are evidently not taking Bolsonaro’s narrow loss to socialist Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva very well, as reports are coming in from across Brazil of truck drivers blocking roads and demanding a recount. Some of them have even called on Bolsonaro to stage a military coup to retain power. (Tweet/Video) As of Monday morning, at least 47 roadblocks were reported in 14 of Brazil’s 27 states, including Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. At one point on Sunday, authorities counted over 100 roadblocks.

Former President Donald Trump turned to the Supreme Court Monday as a last-ditch effort to keep his tax returns from the eyes of a House committee.
Trump asked the high court to block the House Ways and Means Committee from uncovering his tax returns. The committee has sought the former president's tax records since 2019 while he was still in office.
"The committee's purpose in requesting President Trump's tax returns has nothing to do with funding or staffing issues at the IRS and everything to do with releasing the president's tax information to the public," Trump's lawyers said in a filing to the court.

Executives from Facebook and Twitter, including the recently-fired head of trust & safety Vijaya Gadde, held regular meetings with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to discuss censorship on a wide range of topics, including the withdrawal from Afghanistan, coronavirus, and “racial justice,” according to leaked documents.
The information came to light via leaks to the Intercept, as well as documents and minutes revealed through Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s lawsuit filed against the Biden Administration that alleges government collusion with Big Tech to suppress Americans’ First Amendment rights.

Country stars of all generations paid tribute to Loretta Lynn last night, but the pairing of her granddaughter, Emmy Russell, with Lukas Nelson, son of Willie Nelson, felt particularly meaningful.
"She always stood in the corner and called me on stage. I'd sing a song—one original and one that everybody knew," Russell recalled during CMT's Coal Miner's Daughter: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Loretta Lynn, which aired live from the Grand Ole Opry. "It's the first time that she's not here to look at me with her proud eyes. It's just special. Thank you for listening."

Evidently, it’s a new era at Twitter because the social media platform fact-checked President Joe Biden’s official presidential account after he told a whopper so big concerning corporations not paying taxes that even they had to call him out over it.
“Let me give you the facts. In 2020, 55 corporations made $40 billion. And they paid zero in federal taxes. My Inflation Reduction Act puts an end to this,” Biden stated, telling an egregious lie.
The tweet contains context added by users who pointed out that Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act imposed a minimum tax on corporations with average pre-tax earnings greater than $1 billion.

Former President Trump called the vicious hammer attack against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, “a terrible thing” on Friday and then took direct aim at the skyrocketing crime prevalent in “Democrat-run cities.”
The attack took place at the Pelosi home in San Francisco. The suspect was arrested after taking a hammer to Paul Pelosi who had to have surgery for a fractured skill. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
“With Paul Pelosi, that’s a terrible thing, and with all of them, that’s a terrible thing,” Trump commented during an interview with the conservative Spanish-language network Americano Media.
“Look at what happened to San Francisco generally. Look at what’s happening in Chicago.

In Sunday morning’s edition of “Face the Nation,” Republican Congressional candidate Tom Emmer was forced to defend his tweet in which he touted his Second Amendment rights.
The interview started out amicably enough when CBS anchor Margaret Brennan asked Emmer to comment on his feelings towards political violence in this country.
“I have to ask you about what we’ve just been talking about here. How concerned are you about the risk of political violence and how should it be minimized?” Brennan began.

On Sunday’s edition of NBC’s Meet the Press, anchor Chuck Todd openly fretted over the likely scenario that the pain and suffering of Americans from the rampant inflation caused by the Biden regime’s economic policies will cause voters to sweep Republicans like Kari Lake into office across the country. Todd posed his latest worry to New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu who didn’t take the bait and instead focused on what should be done in Congress next year to solve the mounting problems in the United States.

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the attack on Paul Pelosi was in part because “MAGA extremists” had villainized Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for years.
Klobuchar said, “This was a vicious attack meant for the Speaker, ends up hammering the Speaker’s Husband, and our prayers are with her and her husband, their kids, their grandkids. A vicious attack in which she has been villainized for years, and big surprise, it’s gone viral, and it went violent.
