The attack on Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, has dominated the news the last few days. Questions still remain about how David DePape, a nudist protester with a convoluted political history, got inside the house, but what appears fairly clear is that the assailant had a drug-induced psychotic break. Naturally, though, the easy answer isn’t the one the left wants. Instead, they want to pretend that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy making a joke a year ago is what actually “radicalized” DePape because everything must be stupid.
CBC News anchor Margaret Brennan toed that line on Sunday, losing her mind because the GOP refuses to concede the election to Democrats nine days

Stacey Abrams, the Democratic nominee for governor in Georgia, declared during a debate with Kemp on Sunday night that 107 sheriffs had endorsed her opponent, incumbent Republican Brian Kemp, because they “want to be able to take black people off the streets.”
Kemp unveiled the mass endorsement of his reelection bid in November 2021, arguing at the time that “it has never been more dangerous to put on a uniform, and we’ve seen that during this once-in-a-century pandemic, civil unrest and the radical defund-the-police movement that continues to gain steam in Washington, D.C., and other liberal cities across the country.” “Despite being vilified by many, these men and women

Senator Rick Scott (R., Fla.), chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, on Sunday predicted Republicans will win at least 52 Senate seats in the midterm elections.
“We’re gonna get 52 plus,” Scott said during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union. “Herschel Walker will win in Georgia, we’re going to keep all 21 of ours. [Mehmet] Oz is going to win against [John] Fetterman in Pennsylvania. Adam Laxalt will win in Nevada.”
RealClearPolitics polling averages show Walker leading Senator Raphael Warnock by 1.6 percentage points, Fetterman leading Oz by 0.3 points and Laxalt leading Senator Catherine Cortez Masto by 1.2 percentage points.

This time, a 5-0 lead was more than enough for the Houston Astros.
A day after allowing the Philadelphia Phillies to come back to win 6-5 in extra innings, the Astros took care of business in Game 2, winning 5-2. Framber Valdez went 6.1 innings, giving up one run and striking out nine, while Houston led off the game with three straight extra-base hits, a first in World Series history. An Alex Bregman two-run home run added some insurance, but Houston was in control of this game from the first pitch. Here are the best sights and sounds from Game 2 of what is now a tied 2022 World Series.

OMG, it's happening! A few moments ago, less than 24 hours after Elon Musk took over as Chief Twit of Twitter, a fact-check has been placed on one of Joe Biden’s @POTUS tweets because… he’s lying. Biden tweeted, “Let me give you the facts. In 202, 55 corporations made $40 billion. And they paid zero in federal taxes. My Inflation Reduction Act puts an end to this.” Not so fast, homie. Twitter took the opportunity to add context that said, “Out of the 55 corporations the tweet referenced only 14 had earnings greater than $1 billion and would be eligible under Biden’s tax law.” LOL. Twitter also linked Glen Kessler’s fact-check

Elon Musk ordered company-wide layoffs at Twitter on Saturday, according to a report from The New York Times. It’s unclear how many workers will be affected by the purported job cuts, but sources tell the NYT that some departments will be affected more than others. Previous reports indicate Musk wants to cut down on Twitter’s workforce by 75 percent, although he reportedly told employees otherwise when he arrived at the company’s headquarters carrying an actual sink on Wednesday. Twitter currently has about 7,500 staff members, and as noted by the Times, some managers have been asked to come up with lists of employees to let go.

At least 120 people died and more than 100 were injured in a stampede in Seoul on Saturday in celebration of Halloween, according to a local officials.
Officials said the death toll could continue to rise.
The event was the “first outdoor no-mask Halloween event” in South Korea since the Covid pandemic started, the BBC reported. Nearly 100,000 revelers were jammed into the Itaewon district of Seoul, the nation’s capital.
“A lot of young people have gathered here tonight. A lot of people came to the party and club, wearing costumes, and a lot of people I’ve seen distraught and sad, and there are chaotic scenes,”

I regret to inform the meme makers, the narrative builders, and all those involved in the herculean effort to make Paul Pelosi’s attack suspect into a stand-in for the right-wing boogeyman, the after-party has been canceled. The pathetic human known as David DePape was, until recently, a public backer of Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ causes. At least, that’s what we can surmise by surveying his “home” in Berkeley. DePape had a “Black Lives Matter” sign in the window and an LGBTQ rainbow flag, emblazoned with a marijuana symbol, hanging from a tree outside his house.
Author Michael Schellenberger describes the scene outside DePape’s residence and took a dive

Failed presidential candidate John Kerry has urged King Charles III to attend the United Nations COP27 climate change conference in Egypt after it was revealed that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will not travel to the meeting because he is too busy.
John Kerry, who serves as President Joe Biden’s special envoy on climate change on the international stage, has said that it would be “very powerful” if King Charles joins the globalist meeting in Sharm el Sheikh next month to help push the green agenda in light of the British Monarch’s vocal history on the issue.

Houston - Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto hit a tiebreaking home run in the top of the 10th inning, leading to a stunning 6-5 victory against the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night.
The Phillies scored six straight runs after trailing 5-0 early in the game.
Realmuto deposited a 3-2 fastball by Astros reliever Luis Garcia into the right-field stands, sending his dugout into a frenzy. The home run came moments after Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos made a sliding catch in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the tie.
The game had no scoring from the fifth inning until Realmuto's home run,

Paul Pelosi reportedly told 911 dispatch that the individual who allegedly attacked him with a hammer in his home “is a friend,” according to a police dispatch call early Friday morning.
The alleged intruder reportedly attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer, which forced him to undergo emergency surgery for his injuries. Officers later identified 42-year-old Berkeley resident David DePape as Pelosi’s attacker. DePape was reportedly wearing only underwear when officers arrived on the scene. He was taken into custody and will be charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder, San Francisco district attorney Brooke Jenkins announced.

The increased cost of living is taking its toll on seniors in the United States.
Persistently high inflation has caused essentials such as food, gasoline and home utilities to eat into Americans’ paychecks. And the demand for housing, an issue predating the pandemic, has only increased, making it more difficult to secure affordable living spaces.
But the economic squeeze in the United States has been felt more acutely by seniors who are on fixed incomes and are looking to age in place.
Older adults are facing uncertainty amid major life changes, and like millions of others, they are again looking for roommates to split costs.
