Democrats who run the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) have blocked a freshman Latina Republican lawmaker from joining the group.
Mayra Flores, who flipped a long-held Democratic House seat along the U.S.-Mexico border earlier this year, said she was refused admission by the CHC because of her party affiliation.
"As the first Mexican-born American Congresswoman, I thought the Hispanic Caucus would be open to working together," said Flores. "This denial once again proves a bias towards conservative Latinas that don’t fit their narrative or ideology."
The CHC is the largest working group within Congress for lawmakers of Hispanic and Latino descent.
So, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus does not even pretend to represent the issues of Hispanics. They outright declare that they represent the interests of the Democratic Party.

So you have a Republican Hispanic, that won a seat, being denied into the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The expected Red Wave just grew in size.

Same for the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). NO blacks allowed if you're a Republican. Only those that align with the Democrats beliefs and view points are allowed. Neither the CHC or the CBC hides that fact. They openly state "Republicans are NOT allowed". Has nothing to do with race, it's only party that matters. That's why ALL Democrats vote in lock step. One mind, one party.

Proof that they aren't about race. They are about ideology.
Who is most likely to be admitted to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus?
A. Nancy Pelosi
B. Maxine Waters
C. Bernie Sanders
D. Mayra Flores
Perhaps they should change their name.
The Congressional Liberal Latino Caucus?
The Congressional Lefty Latino Caucus?
Perhaps they can be more inclusive.
The Congressional Communist Caucus? Oh. Does that already exist?

So, today's Progressive Democrat party only believes they have an exclusive club, huh?
Maybe they need to rename their clique -- PDOCHC (progressive democrat only congressional hispanic caucus).

One reason is that many of these liberal caucuses are front operations for corporate contributions and donations to campaigns and pet projects. You certainly would not want a smelly Republican around finding out about the graft and corruption.
One thing that the new House should do is require that all outside donations be directed through the Speaker's office before they are handed over to any congressionally approved caucus. All expenses would also be disbursed by the Speakers office or whatever financial operations exist in the Congress for such purposes. The Speakers office would tabulate and release the information on all these grants and expenses in the cause of transparancy.

Mayra: You're an American (citizen) so who needs an Hispanic Congressional Caucus. You say that Hispanics have the same values as other conservative Americans so be bold and say no more caucuses based on ethnicity, race, etc.

Unless they allow a Congressional White Caucus to join in the Cauci fun, it seems that there should really only be a Congressional American Caucus.

Like many Hispanic or Black Congress members who wish to join the Hispanic or Black Congressional Caucus, they are Hispanic or Black; just not the right kind of Hispanic or Black! You must follow the expected liberal social Democrat agenda to be accepted or you are not really Hispanic or Black. Maybe members like Flores can start the Congressional Conservative Minority Caucus or simply the Congressional Conservative Caucus and welcome conservatives of all races. That would show that Conservatives are really the ones who are willing to work together with others (inclusion, equity...)

CHC has 33 members...there are 10 Repubs who were denied membership. Ergo they discriminate against nearly 30% of the Group they claim to "Represent", just as the other democrat caucuses regularly discriminate for Men against women candidates/officeholders, for whites against black candidates/office holders, for ANYONE over Asian candidates/officeholders...while claiming to speak for those particular societal subsets. Not only is that discriminatory, it is also dishonest, and UN democratic.

Agreed OP. They are for their own power, not their constituency. Same goes for the CBC.
