GOP momentum is happening nationwide — and with mere weeks before the midterm elections, it might just help a few more Republicans win races that were previously believed to be unwinnable.
Republican Christine Drazan has been leading in the three-way gubernatorial race in Oregon for some time now, and now it’s looking increasingly possible that Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) has a chance to defeat incumbent Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul. In fact, RealClearPolitics, recognizing that Zeldin is closing the gap in recent polling, has upgraded the New York gubernatorial race to a “Toss-up” from “Likely Democratic.”
“Our race was just moved to TOSS UP by RealClearNews!” Zeldin tweeted on Saturday.

Republicans across the country have made protecting girls' sports from biological male transgender athletes a campaign message as they seek to retake control of Congress next month, with at least one gubernatorial candidate highlighting the issue in recent campaign ad.
The issue of biological males who identify as females competing against women in women's sports has garnered national attention and resulted in a feud among the two political parties in America, and one group believes the issue may help turnout for Republicans in the November 8 election.
"Americans understand that female athletes have had their scholarships, their trophies and their dignity stolen by males competing in their sport

A match made in heaven!
Dementia Joe is going to travel to Pennsylvania next week to stump for Democrat Senate candidate and stroke victim John Fetterman.
Neither of these men can string a sentence together, but here we are.
“On Thursday, October 20, the President will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The President will also travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to participate in a reception for Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman.” the announcement read. John Fetterman is totally shot after his massive stroke in May.
Fetterman is running against Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz in the 2022 US Senate race in Pennsylvania.

If we tried to highlight every bizarre or delusional thing Joe Biden says, we wouldn’t have time for anything else. But who can resist occasionally mocking Slow Joe? Yesterday Biden was in Los Angeles and risked going out in public. The New York Post reports:
“The inflation report is out. Have you seen gas prices around here in LA? It’s 7 bucks a gallon almost,” a reporter said after Biden handed a cashier three $20 bills for a $16.45 order of six tacos and two quesadillas. “Well, that’s always been the case here,” Biden replied.
“Always” meaning since I, Slow Joe, became president. That line, while false, at least was coherent.

Nevada Democrat senator Catherine Cortez Masto labeled the National Right to Life Committee an "extremist group" in a recent campaign ad attacking the group's endorsement of her Republican opponent, Adam Laxalt. The ad brands National Right to Life a "powerful extremist group" because it is urging Congress to pass what the ad terms a "national abortion ban."
In response, the organization issued a statement to TheBlaze in which it said, "National Right to Life does not want babies to die and supports measures to support the lives of mothers and their unborn children. Catherine Cortez Masto is the extremist who wants unlimited abortion even late in pregnancy

Like Hitler and John Wayne Gacy, the Democrats got arrogant over their successes, and that arrogance made them sloppy. That’s when their evil came to an end.
The Democrats thought they could steal our freedoms away under the guise of COVID-19. Actually, they did steal them. Embarrassingly, many Americans were only too happy to lock down, wear the useless Fauci face diaper, and stand on science-free stickers at the grocery store. You know, to save grandma. Remember, communism always comes disguised as virtue.
Many of us caught on quickly and recognized that the Democrats were using the Hong Kong Fluey lockdown flapdoodle as a dress rehearsal for communism — and worse.

I’m standing outside the Eastern District of PA’s U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia with 150 to 175 people, many with signs and cameras. It’s a sunny October morning at 6th and Chestnut. The mood is solemn but curiously upbeat.
One of the event’s organizers, Dr. William Devlin, pastor of Infinity Bible Church in the South Bronx, is at the podium. Devlin is a tall and lanky minister with a tight ponytail in the back of his head, which may cause some to assume that he’s “woke.” The truth is the opposite of that. Devlin is an international human rights advocate as well as a polished speaker

A jury has recommended that Nikolas Cruz be sentenced to life in prison without parole in the massacre of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.
The 12-person jury’s verdict was read in a packed courtroom Thursday before visibly distraught family members and the shooter, who remained blank-faced throughout.
The jury reached its decision after over a day of deliberations in the trial that kicked off July 18.
The trial was to decide whether to sentence him to life in prison or the death penalty. Prosecutors had sought the death penalty, while the defense had asked for life in prison.

We live in an age of horrific wonders, signs, portents, and a news cycle of Lovecraftian dimensions. Nothing is off the table these days. For example, Mexico is suing five gun retailers in Arizona.
The Mexican government issued a press release on Monday announcing that it is filing suit against Diamondback Shooting Sports, Inc., SNG Tactical, LLC, and Loan Prairie, LLC, known as The Hub Target Sports, all in Tucson, as well as Ammo A-Z, LLC in Phoenix and Sprague’s Sports, Inc. in Yuma. The suit claims that these companies have illicitly sold military-style weapons to straw purchasers to be trafficked to “criminal organizations.” The suit was filed in

Good heavens, the CDC better check the water supply at the New York Times. First, as noted here over the weekend, the Times discovered the farce of California’s high speed rail. Now they’ve discovered (also decades later than sensate people, but still) that Joe Biden makes things up.
Biden, Storyteller in Chief, Spins Yarns That Often Unravel
The exaggerated biography that Mr. Biden tells includes having been a fierce civil rights activist who was repeatedly arrested. He has claimed to have been an award-winning student who earned three degrees. And last week, speaking on the hurricane-devastated island of Puerto Rico, he said he had been “raised in the Puerto Rican community

A college dad shot by two homeless men high on drugs and long sought by police. An illegal migrant who stabbed eight on the Las Vegas strip. An abused wife slaughtered after her husband was released without cash bail.
In a single week, the Democrats' permissive approach to law enforcement — insecure borders, cashless bail and exploding homelessness — left a lethal wake of innocent victims that shook communities coast to coast and invigorated a political debate less than 30 days from mid-term elections.
"Policymakers have decided that law-abiding citizens are secondary and that those who commit crimes are afforded protections that embolden more crime," Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro

Today is the anniversary of the birth of John Lennon. Murdered at the age of 40, he should be here to celebrate his 82nd birthday today. What a loss.
His work has always struck a chord with me. Now that so much of the Beatles’ work is available on YouTube, I thought I would take the occasion to adapt comments I have made previously and note some of his less famous songs. I am a Lennonist at heart; I identify with his idealistic streak and his cynicism. In the jaunty rockabilly number “I’ll Cry Instead” he let on, “I’ve got a chip on my shoulder that’s bigger than my feet."
