The FBI team that was in communication with Facebook before the social media company censored the original Hunter Biden laptop story has been identified, according to a new court filing.
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, identified the team as the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), according to an updated complaint(snip)
Meta named the team after receiving a subpoena in a case alleging the federal government pressured Big Tech firms to censor users.
“(Snip), Meta has identified the FBI’s FITF, as supervised by Laura Dehmlow, and Elvis Chan as involved in the communications between the FBI and Meta that led to Facebook’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story,”

Former President Donald Trump said on Oct. 5 that the August raid conducted by the FBI had backfired by generating “about $5 billion worth of free publicity” for his Mar-a-Lago residence.
The comment was made at the Hispanic Leadership Conference in Miami (snip)
Mar-a-Lago came under the spotlight following the raid, as Trump described, with “helicopters flying over” it. According to Trump, the intensive coverage has helped boost his estate’s promotion free of charge.
“(snip) People said, ‘That’s a nice house.’ If it weren’t so nice, they probably wouldn’t be doing it because it gets ratings,”

Fire department officials across Southwest Florida are urging electric vehicle owners to take action after multiple EVs caught fire due to water damage from Hurricane Ian – a hazard costing emergency services precious time in recovery efforts.
"It's just the allocation of resources that we have to put towards these fires," North Collier Assistant Fire Chief James Hammond told FOX Business’ Madison Alworth in an appearance on "Varney & Co." Friday. "And it just ties up resources a lot longer."
A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian( snip)

Footage of Chinese police holding machine guns at the airport of Xishuangbanna (Banna) prefecture to stop tourists from boarding their planes has gone viral in China and overseas.
Tourists were trapped in the airport after the local authorities of Banna suddenly locked down the city of Jinghong on Oct. 4. They chanted “We want to go home!”
Then police wearing full personal protective gear and holding guns appeared at the airport. It is not clear if their guns were loaded with live ammunition. A tourist can be heard shouting: “Are you going to kill us all?”

In a win for election integrity, absentee voters can no longer change their vote after submitting their ballots, a Wisconsin judge has ruled.
As previously reported, Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections (RITE) filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) for its unlawful guidance that allowed absentee voters to change their vote after their ballot had already been cast. The guidance also allows election officials to “spoil” the old ballot on behalf of the voter, creating an environment ripe for voter fraud and confusion.
Such a directive violated Wisconsin statute, which states that a voter possesses the exclusive authority to spoil his absentee ballot before it is submitted, not after.

Firefighters in Florida are dealing with a new challenge in the wake of Hurricane Ian—waterlogged electric vehicle (EV) batteries erupting in flames.
Florida’s chief financial officer and state fire marshal, Jimmy Patronis, took to Twitter on Oct. 6 to warn of the increased numbers of incidents in which electric vehicle batteries have corroded amid the storm, prompting fires to begin.
“There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start. That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before,” Patronis said. “At least on this kind of scale.”
Patronis shared a video alongside the tweet showing firefighters from the North Collier Fire Rescue (NCFR)

Former President Donald Trump, who sued CNN for defamation early this week, said in an interview on Wednesday that the media should prove his allegations about the 2020 presidential election being rigged are false.
CNN had termed Trump’s allegations a “big lie,” a term that Trump claimed was coined by anchors to malign his reputation. (snip) Trump said CNN should “prove the big lie.”
“They’ll say whatever comes to mind. They talk about the big lie. I said, well prove the big lie. The big lie is not a big lie at all. The big lie is the opposite,” said Trump.

At Montpelier, the home of James Madison, a massive political reeducation effort financed by leftist billionaire David Rubenstein has made it “All About Slavery, All of the Time.” Madison’s role as the key architect of the Constitution and defender of its provisions in the Federalist Papers is given little attention.
The race hustlers on the board in charge of the fourth president’s home have proposed a national slavery monument on the foundings father’s plantation.
His home serves as the housing for what amounts to a “one-hour Critical Race Theory disguised as a tour,” said one disappointed visitor. “I was kind of thinking we’d be hearing more about the Constitution,”

News reports about the hardships endured by the Venezuelan illegal immigrants sent by Gov. Ron DeSantis to Martha’s Vineyard are hard to hear.
One “migrant” told The New York Times that he felt “betrayed” because he didn’t know … the Florida government had paid for his flight! “If I had known, I would not have gotten involved.”
It’s one thing for the Venezuelans to accept a free flight from federal taxpayers, but quite another to have Floridians paying for their transportation!
“The good news is that, at this rate, soon there will be no difference in our country and the second-rate countries these people are fleeing.”

It was a week ago Wednesday, around 1:00pm, when Hurricane Ian first approached the coast of southwest Florida. In the aftermath, once again the coastal topography has changed.
Incredibly, rescue workers are still going through rubble on Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Pine Island and Matlacha while recovery operations continue in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Arcadia, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. .(snip)From the Governor’s Office:
There are currently 298,820 reported power outages. They have already restored power nearly 2.4 million accounts across the state, representing 88.92% of accounts restored since the peak. There are currently 11 fueling depot stations open statewide, and a mobile fuel truck

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is buying $290 million worth of drugs as part of its “long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies.”
HHS is purchasing a supply of the drug Nplate from Amgen USA, a biotechnology headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California.
The $290 million purchase was announced on Oct. 4 by the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), an agency within the HHS that’s tasked with preparing the nation for future disasters and public health emergencies.
Nplate is the trade name of romiplostim, which was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January 2021 to treat

The economic data coming in the past week is in alignment with prior forecasts. Bottom line, energy driven inflation has collapsed consumer spending, inventories climbing, vendors are cancelling orders, and this is peak season for transpacific shipping- which has now recorded the most rapid drop in history.
A single transpacific container shipment cost $19,000 in 2021, then $14,500 in 2022 as the intentional slowdown began. Now it’s only $3,900 as entire fleets of cargo shipments are cancelled due to lack of demand by U.S. purchasers.
Folks, get ready…. because it’s not going to get better. Prior farm costs, an outcome of energy price increases, are now reaching the sup
