The U.S. Needs a Safe, Sane Energy Policy

Lame Duck Joe's administration is doing the bidding of Xi Jinping. Crippling America. So far LDJ is fubaring America. He has two more years to complete Xi's task.

There will never be a safe sane energy policy with idiots like Biden, Newsome and AOC in charge.

We need nuclear energy. We also need reliable and reasonably inexpensive fossil fuel sources. The United States has been blessed with abundant energy sources, but we let the liberals shut them down to force us into the expensive "green new deal" fiasco. Build the pipelines. Drill, baby, drill! Send coal miners into the dark domain to come up with the light for America.

If you want a sane energy policy, you will have to wait until we elect a leaders who is not "insane".

Democrats need constant energy chaos to use as a political football. In reality we could have enough energy resources available to say ''Go Ahead - Use as much as you want!''

We had a sane energy policy! Trouble is, we now have the insane running the country.

Up until a few years ago, coal fired plants provided over 50% of the power for the US. Those plants are still there, but many have been closed. Those should be reopened as quickly as possible. Fossil fuels work and they're cheap. A nuclear plant would take over 10-15 years to come on line. Plus total costs of more than $17 billion over the life of the loan for the plant which the ratepayers would be on the bill for.

Western civilization is under assault to bring us to our knees, and we are not only allowing it we are assisting. Fire up the coal burning plants and drill.

Most of the cost for bringing current nuclear power plants online is getting through the enormous regulatory maze that has been instituted by federal, state, and local government. This is largely driven by irrational fear combined with the political contributions of large fossil fuel energy companies to install candidates that will protect their oil and gas asset values. The NRC is obsolete and should be completely reorganized to include engineers and scientists familiar with the technologies of Advanced Generation 4 Nuclear Power. This moves away from solid fuel, pressurized water, high capital cost nuclear power plants designed for submarines to liquid fuel fast breeder, 1 atmosphere, fail-safe, lower capital cost reactor designs demonstrated in the 1960's at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. These reactors can use uranium extracted from the current spent solid fuel reactor rods to start their breeding cycle mixed with molten fluoride and fissible thorium salts. This would eliminate our dependence on Russian controlled sources for new uranium stock. They would burn up the existing nuclear waste, operate at more efficient high temperatures (700 C) for better thermodynamic efficiency, and eliminate the need for large, expensive containment buildings and cooling towers with their high capital costs. Oh, and if you are a real greenie, the could also use excess electricity to sequester atmospheric CO2, desalinate water, eliminate coke in steel production, and synthesize ammonia fertilizers from water and atmospheric nitrogen rather than natural gas which produces CO2. Energy = Prosperity. The practical answers to our energy problems are there. All that is lacking is the vision and will to implement them.

When I see words 'safe and sane' some liberal argument is next. Like the use of safe in gun legislation I'm safe it's the criminals who aren't safe. Energy safe no it should be sane to produce our own energy being independent of foreigners who offer it. Putin's got Europe in a strangle hold because they were all wrapped in green activism then Putin started a war. Wind and solar will never replace fossil fuel, nuclear power, water or anything. Wind and solar belong in a small remote cabin in the back woods.
