Free stuff is a lousy way to address wealth disparity

Original Article

I’m not convinced that wealth disparity is a problem. I do firmly believe, mind you, that the world is rich enough now that no one should starve or freeze to death, at least not involuntarily, and that the injured or diseased should be given medical treatment. In America, we’ve achieved that, and more. Poor people in America not only have plenty to eat (as is evident from their physiques) but also have automobiles, air conditioning, color cable television, smart phones, and free tuition. The wealth disparity complaint is not about starvation or freezing. It’s the complaint that some people have far more luxuries than others.

Kind of like throwing coins out of the carriage as you drive through town. I guess it keeps the peasants scrambling for scraps; too busy to notice the pooper who burns 700,000 pounds of jet fuel every week to sleep in a different bed and proclaims the peasants shall not use gasoline.

True story...A few years ago, the Seattle Times had an Op-Ed written by a female college student. She was advocating for free birth control. In the reply section, I said that I would pay for one year's worth of birth control for anyone on a few conditions. That they didn't have tattoo's, hair extensions, acrylic nails, cable TV, a cell phone or a car newer than mine. She replied why did I single out only women. I replied, I didn't say only women, I said anyone. Her answer, and I'm not kidding, was 'heavy lies the heart of an owner of a uterus.' NO KIDDING...I just put down several lines of LOL's and then asked her if she got that from some drug induced party at college. She didn't reply.

Try playing socialism Monopoly with your kids or grandkids. After every trip around the board you pass GO. If you're in the lead, you must give one piece of property to the player with the least property. Same goes for houses, hotels, etc. Instead of collecting $200, you pay income tax of 35% to be split between the other players. Soon no one is buying property, houses or hotels. Eventually everyone quits trying and just waits for their handout when someone else passes GO.

The best way to eliminate "wealth disparity" - - is to get off your fat duff - - and show up for work every day. Keep applying yourself - - day in and day out - - do what you're asked to do - - and more - - pay attention to how things work - - listen to successful people - - and shun failures and losers. Yup - - that's what works - - every time.

Dimocraps use envy to create wealth disparity as one of its schemes to get votes and power. This will always be the case, even if free stuff abounds and taxes are raised on the wealthy (including everybody as the writer states). The question is how do we reduce the impact of envy on our elections. My belief it comes from hard work, pride in self accomplishments, love of family and some form of religion. It certainly doesn't come from belief in lies from dimocraps. Going to bed at night feeling good about oneself is much better than being jealous of your neighbor or the goons on the tube.

Wealth disparity is not the same as income disparity. Most of wealth disparity is the result of laws related to inheritance and "death taxes". In countries like the US and Netherlands the laws allow families who accumulate wealth in assets and savings to pass these on to their heirs using living trusts that avoid probate costs and inheritance taxes. Although the beneficiaries must pay income tax on any distribution taken from the trust's assets, they don't pay tax on the principal that is inherited since this was already taxed. This means that, over time, the trust's assets can earn vast amounts of compounded interest that is only taxed when the beneficiary takes a distribution. The richest person in Denmark is the heir to the Heineken brewery company that was founded in 1864 and has been earning compounded interest for 148 years. The secret to wealth is to spend less than you earn, save the difference, and create a living trust that will allow you to pass it on to your heirs. Governments use redistribution of income schemes to buy votes, but the wealth gap in under the control of smart earners across generations.

Wealth disparity is not a problem in the US , it is a choice. When you have illegal immigrants coming across the southern border, who are not only making enough money to live on but are able to send billions back home Americans have no excuse. If they are starving or freezing it is directly due to the consequences of their own action and inactions. I agree free stuff is a lousy way to address wealth disparity but it is a great way to perpetuate it, and buy lot votes which is the sole purpose of it.

We just tossed away $15 TRILLION on COVIDS and billions more in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and "defending freedom" in Ukraine. We cover the shortfall in contributions by our NATO "allies". We try to launch $4.1 billion dollar rockets to nowhere so we can send minorities and women to the moon, apparently also to claim it for the Free World ahead of China. Infrastructure, EVs, expansion of the IRS, and tons of stuff are add-ons. The national debt, which was once shockingly high, has doubled in recent years to over $30 TRILLION!! It's good so long as we can inflate our money and float the interest payments. The USA is living like "the working class poor" from paycheck to paycheck. So, Glenn, you say. "I do firmly believe, mind you, that the world is rich enough now that no one should starve or freeze to death, at least not involuntarily, and that the injured or diseased should be given medical treatment." Well, no one is starving or generally freezing involuntarily without the help of mental issues. But how much "free" medical treatment are we all entitled to? Cuts and scrapes? Cancer treatments? Life support to the bitter end? We never ask that question because no one wants to seem hard-hearted - someone will always cry "UNFAIR!!". So, why does Bill Gates get the expensive life-saving treatment at the best hospitals and Joe Dokes not...it's just money and its privilege, which is unfair. Politics is divvying up the government's take in taxes and other revenues. We all got a swing or two of "stimulus", maybe some PPP dough, or some other loan that became a grant. We're all socialists now. Now, how much can I get from you before you take from me?

First Lady Jill Biden asked to be called “Doctor” after her husband was elected president. She’s not actually a doctor. She’s also not nearly as smart as one and so she thought the title made her look like she was, at least to stupid people who don’t know better. The justification for “Doctor” Jill’s request to be called a doctor was she has an EdD. That’s a doctoral degree in education. It’s a little like a PhD but much easier to obtain. No EdD in the entire universe could pass an introductory college chemistry or physics course.

“My body, my choice” is a favorite slogan of abortion advocates. It’s thin gruel. To the extent this slogan is an analysis and not just a chant, it assumes the conclusion. It assumes that a fetus anywhere from hours old to nearly born is simply owned in a legal property sense by the mother in whom it resides. But that’s the whole question, right? That question is not answered by just determining the location of the fetus. If it were, then a mother wrapping her arms around her baby or toddler or husband could make the same argument; “My body, my choice.”

That final opinion, almost identical to Alito’s draft and joined by five of the nine Justices, held that Roe was wrong. Note that this is not some bomb-throwing, Antifa/Democrat hoodlum, but is the mayor of one of the biggest cities in America. (OK, I’ll admit that she could be both.) The mayor didn’t bother to tell us what part of the Constitution guarantees abortion on demand. But, no matter.

The Aspen Times months ago published a thinly supported story suggesting that one of the local billionaires was in league with Vladimir Putin. The billionaire filed suit against the newspaper for defamation. The newspaper wanted to settle the case. Meanwhile, the newspaper was recently bought by a family-owned group of several dozen small newspapers. Much of the family are Republicans, which may be the determinative fact in this story. The new owners asked that the newspaper staff refrain from commenting on the pending litigation while settlement talks were ongoing. That’s standard and prudent in legal proceedings.

It started on their own 2-yard line about two centuries ago with Karl Marx scorning the masses he pretended to champion by mocking their “opiate” of religion. Marx and his fellow travelers preferred the opiate of opiate.

It’s a biological fact that, generally speaking, males in relation to females are naturally larger, more physical, more ambitious, stronger, faster, cruder, stinkier, more competitive and hornier. Those traits are wired into them as tightly as the DNA in their Y chromosome, and are all awash in the testosterone hormone produced in their testicles. At times, those traits can be problematic. At other times, they can save the day, save the world, or save a child. But men are out of fashion these days. Boys, too. Mind you,
