Dr. Anthony Fauci is now warning of a “pretty bad flu season,” urging Americans to get flu shots when they become available this year. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, and chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, is stepping down after the midterm elections and warned in an interview this week that the U.S. is expected to face a “pretty bad flu season” this year. “We should be prepared for that superimposed upon what I hope is the residual and not another spike of COVID,” Fauci said, according to Bloomberg. “We better pay attention.”

The Bank of America announced it will not require down payments on loans in certain primarily Black and Hispanic neighborhoods in five U.S. cities. The new program from Bank of America is “aimed at helping first-time homebuyers in Black and Hispanic neighborhoods by offering mortgages that don’t require down payments, closing costs or minimum credit scores,” according to Bloomberg. The loans will also not require mortgage insurance. The trial program is being rolled out “in certain Black/African American and/or Hispanic-Latino neighborhoods” in five U.S. cities: Detroit; Miami; Los Angeles; Dallas; and Charlotte, North Carolina. Dubbed the “Community Affordable Loan Solution,” the program will determine eligibility

An academic in Belgium has come under fire for an unearthed “research” paper in which he admits to being a paedophile and argues that society should be more tolerant of “minor-attracted persons” and that the LGBTQ+ community should accept peadophiles as a “sexual minority.” An academic paper published earlier this year on the website Controversial Ideas by “Brecht Vaerwaeter”—a pseudonym apparently used to protect the author from criminal prosecution—argues that paedophilia should be classified as just another sexual orientation and that “minor-attracted persons” (MAPs) should be accepted by society. He argues that “many men, as well as some women, are attracted almost exclusively to minors” and therefore

Democrats and Republicans agree on one thing, according to a new poll: Democracy is under threat. The Quinnipiac University poll, published on Wednesday, found that some 67 percent of all of those surveyed believed that democracy was in danger. That total included 72 percent of registered Democratic voters and 70 percent of Republicans. Details were published just ahead of a major set-piece speech on Thursday by President Joe Biden on what the White House bills as the 'battle for the soul of the nation,' in which he is expected to blast Donald Trump and his allies for undermining the nation's democracy.(Snip)'In a rare moment of agreement, Americans coalesce

Los Angeles County residents were in for quite a scare as they accidentally received an emergency evacuation notice on their TVs.
An evacuation order for Eastern North Pacific Ocean, Guadalupe Island, Los Angeles, and Ventura County was issued at around 5pm on Wednesday. However, a little over an hour later, authorities pulled the notice and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office later announced it was 'sent in error by the County of Los Angeles.' 'There is no threat to Ventura County at this time and no need for residents to evacuate,' the Sheriff's Office wrote on Twitter. But that didn't stop residents from freaking out over the 'scary' situation,

President Biden has formally announced plans to give civilian federal employees a pay raise next year, an election-year promise bound to please government workers struggling with high inflation like the rest of the voters. In a letter to congressional leadership, Mr. Biden said civilian federal employees will see an average 4.6% boost in pay beginning Jan. 1, consistent with his 2023 budget proposal in the spring. The raise includes an across-the-board 4.1% increase and locality pay that will increase by an average of 0.5%. Mr. Biden cited a growing pay gap between federal civilian and private sector employees that have led to recruitment and retention challenges

A growing number of Americans are using 'buy now, pay later' services to purchase basic goods such as groceries, raising concerns about consumers taking on more debt. Installment-pay services such as Klarna and Afterpay offer interest-free short-term loans to cover purchases, but the fines for late payments can be steep, and critics fear their ease of use could lure shoppers into dangerous debt.(Snip)Chipotle is one of the restaurant chains that partners with Zip, allowing hungry Americans to put 25 percent down on a burrito and pay off the remaining installments over six weeks. Supporters of the buy now pay later (BNPL) industry say

Longmont, Colo.—Nearly everything was lost in the firebombing of the Life Choices Pregnancy Medical Center, but Executive Director Kathy Roberts goes back to the little things as she takes stock of the damage. The gift bags and boxes filled with baby items that had just been decorated by a local artist. The “beautiful art deco clock” hanging over the fireplace. The children’s clothing that survived the fire but was too smoky to save.(Snip)Video showed the firebombers wore dark hoodies, carried backpacks and rode bikes. About 60 high schools across the nation will offer a new Advance Placement African American studies course this fall that includes lessons on black pride, black power and black feminism.
Although the College Board, which approved the pilot program, declined to release a syllabus or name the schools that will be teaching the course, Marlon Williams-Clark, a history teacher at the Florida State University Schools, identified himself as one of the instructors for the new course, The New York Times reported.
Williams-Clark, 35, said the course would be a deep dive into African American history, but some fear the AP course could be a ploy to teach

Charging electric vehicles in Britain soon will be more expensive than filling up gasoline-powered cars thanks to soaring electricity costs—an economic switcheroo that could be a harbinger of shrinking financial benefits for Americans who go green. British energy regulators told electricity consumers to expect to pay 80% more beginning Oct. 1. The national price cap on residential electricity will send the average bill from about $190 per month to an estimated $343 per month, or more than $4,000 per year. The shocking price hike stems from the nation’s limited reserves and Russia’s cutoff of one of the region’s major sources of electricity generation: natural gas.

The National Security Agency and Cyber Command have activated their Election Security Group tasked with disrupting foreign cyberattackers aiming to hack or interfere with the upcoming midterm elections, assembling a team to combat threats coming from China, Iran and Russia. The group uses its foreign signals and intelligence collection capabilities to identify attackers and their intent and then fights against attackers by exposing them publicly, making their financial costs skyrocket, and by deploying other techniques.
“Thousands of people are going to work every day to defend the elections from foreign threats, from generating insights to sharing information to imposing costs by degrading and disrupting foreign adversary activity,” Katrina Cheesman, Election Security

The Biden administration is still allowing Afghans to reach the U.S. without checking them through a key Defense Department database that could help weed out national security risks, according to senators.(Snip)Those who are tracking the matter say there are plenty of worrying signs. “Some of them have no IDs, some of them are created on the spot using whatever they said their name was,” one Senate investigator said. “What we know is frightening. And what we know we don’t know is absolutely overwhelming.” As an example, he pointed to the startling number of Afghans who are now listed with Jan. 1 birthdays. It turns out that exact birth dates

Jane’s Revenge, like Antifa, is merely an idea, not an easily identifiable group with logos and slogans and leaders, and members whose college loans Legacy Americans are eager to pay off. The authorities cannot possibly solve these crimes; after all, you can't arrest an idea, especially when you're busy trying to frame White Supremacists for plots you fabricate.
