Mar-a-Lago mess: How Merrick Garland can
regain the public’s trust

In a three-minute press conference following the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, Attorney General Merrick Garland cut a defiant figure, condemning critics of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI: “I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked.” He then left the stage without taking questions or answering that criticism.
It was a signature moment for Garland, who often responds to controversies with belated, rote remarks. His brief comments had all of the substance of a Hallmark card that read, “Trust us, we’re the government.” Yet trust has to be earned, not simply demanded

He might regain my trust if he said “Today I am submitting my resignation because I can no longer be a part of the criminal cabal running this administration”.

I will never trust Garland, he has proven, in this particular case, five times in a row, that he is a corrupt, criminal, treasonous, lying thug with a badge. Garland ignores the laws, ignores the Constitution, and covers up his lies with "security" claims.
There is nothing at this point that Garland can do to make us trust him. He's not trustworthy. He has proven this time and time again.

If the sweep executed by the FBI included the President's or Melania's passports, why not return them post haste? What's the security threat? Journalists should make Garland defend his actions--make him say, "We're concerned that President Trump or his wife may flee the country." That'll cement his approval ratings.

This is an absurd postulate. Garland does not care about Trump supporter's trust, and intends on bearing down on the persecution Trump and them. Turley has mastered saying nothing, and misdirection.

Adolf Garland defending the DOJ Stassi and the Gestapo FBI don't care about your trust. He's got the 'big guy' on his side.

No, there was no trust to begin with therefore no trust to regain. We sure dodged a bullet when he did not make it on to the Supreme Court. I can't even begin to imagine that chaos. Plus I cannot name one cabinet or senior advisor who is not useless in this administration.

If it was good enough for Eva Braun, it should be good enough for Ubama's SCOTUS nominee, Garland.

“It’s unclear why Garland opted for a warrant?” Excuse me, but it’s clear as daylight. Valerie Jarrett ordered him to do it. And he jumped.

He is not trustworthy at all. I am so glad he never got onto the SCOTUS for if he is acting like this against the nation, imagine what a lifetime appointment for him would be like. Sotomayor and Kagan at least get that, while Garland does not.

As much as I respect Mr. Turley, there is nothing Garland can do to regain my trust. I wouldn’t even trust his resignation letter. Transparency? Please. Any so-called transparency we see from Garland or anyone else associated with this administration is certain to be just a stage-managed sliver of the whole story, designed to further their Orange Man (and anyone who ever voted or worked for him) Bad narrative.

Garland lost any trust he ever had, which was just about nothing, when he did not make a move after people started attacking and demonstrating in front of Supreme court justices. He demonstrated how small and unjust and partisan he is. Can't wait when he gets his walking papers!

Resigning would get him 1/3 of the way there.
Saying he was ordered to violate the Constitution by Josef Stolen another 1/3 of the way.
Full forgiveness can come after he finds a high window, or bridge to jump from.
It is too late to regain trust.

The Garlic Man is a snake in the grass. Not to be trusted under any condition. Garlic Man, resign, now for signing off on this unlawful raid of a US President. Or bear severe legal consequences should the pubbies regain control of congress later this year.

"Judy" Garland can never regain the public trust. He should not even try. He needs to go away, forever.

Surely to Lord, Turley jests when he suggests Garland can regain public trust. There is no trust in evil except that it is evil.

Sorry, but he could confess all, do a walk of shame and spend years atoning, and he would never gain the trust of this member of the public.
(And could never regain it, because I never trusted him.
But it is a moot point because he couldn't care less about what we peasants think of him.

Garland will black out the whole affidavit except for the words "the" and "and. He's not going to expose Joey and the witch hunt.

Like Biden, he does not take questions. Also, he will not release the affidavit leading to the warrant to seize Trump's records. If you can't justify your actions, quit.

Turley, covers for and gives the most outrageously forgiving analysis of Garlands actions and motives...Once a Democrat...
I think Merrick Garland is the EVIL monster most of us believe him to be. The one thing Mitch the Commie Spy, got one thing right, Garland is not on the SCOTUS.

Mssr. Turley is a good analyst with a deep understanding of the law but the premise that General Garland has any interest in gaining or maintaining the trust of the American people is mistaken.

The writers at The Hill must be doing some serious Hunter White lines. There is only one thing that sawed off little bridge troll Garland Green(from the movie Con Air) can do to regain a fraction of We the People’s trust. Resign. Period end of discussion.
