Take credit for what worked. Shift the blame for what didn’t. Run to Daddy-in-law whenever the big, bad chief of staff got in his way. That was Jared Kushner’s modus operandi during the long four years I had to serve alongside the man most responsible for the loss of the Trump White House.
Kushner came to the D.C. swamp on the coattails of his wife as nothing more than a young and rich, run-of-the-mill liberal New York Democrat with a worldview totally orthogonal to the president he was supposed to serve. Yet, within the West Wing, Kushner considered himself to be the ultimate “Trump whisperer.”

Navarro is forthright. He had an axe to grind with Jared:
Jared’s “neuter the boss” role quickly became a source of friction between us. He believed that I, more than anyone inside the West Wing, could “rile up” the president to take actions that were, in fact, totally consistent with Trump’s central campaign promises. But as this particular Wall Street transactionalist liked to say (and it always made me cringe): “That was the campaign. This is reality.”

Now, now Gyyrrls...behave.
(Navarro diminishes his argument with tacky overwrought hyperbole, over exaggeration)

As an outsider, Trump's vulnerability and ultimate failure, was the people/advisors he surrounded himself with. But as a commenter after the article pointed out: Republicans couldn't wait to refuse to work with or for him. A goodly portion of the knives in Trumps back were put there by our side. Could be why he's out here building his own farm team. Trump will have to demonstrate better back-up next go round.

Re #3, “tacky”? Navarro is no dummy and he obviously saw plenty. Had to suck up a lot to be in that environment with a man he so admired and a barnacle who happened to be his son-in-law. Anyone who has worked near the top of a major corporation knows what Navarro is talking about. It’s often a relative of the CEO. Trouble ...

Kelly anne conway- the person married to a chipmunk- certainly has roasted kushner. In my superficial review of her writing not very convincingly.
Navarro is more convincing. And he says kushner will not be present during a 2nd term.

Kushner has received (or taken) major credit for the Abraham Accords, a huge achievement. I wonder if Navarro, whom I respect, will dispute that in his book?

I read Kellyanne's book, and though she tags Kushner as the one most responsible for losing the 2020 campaign. But she doesn't hit this entitled big-headed sap hard enough.

My opinion. PDJT saw DC for YEARS (by his accounts, he contemplated running for Pres a while ago). I think he saw what needed to be done and wanted to take action.
(1) I think he had NO idea how many people he would need to do the job, and how small the pool of trustworthies would be.
(2) he had no idea the Republicans (as they used to be called) would refuse to work with him, and even sabotage his personnel and policies.
(3) he loves his family and saw “help” and friendly faces in Ivanka and Jared.
(4) he was naive in 2015-16. I think he has learned.

Bingo!
Kushner was THE saboteur of the Trump administration, no doubt about that.

I noticed we have not heard a word from either Ivana or Jared since Trump left Washington. They have disappeared! I never did think it was a good idea to have Either of them working in the White House, especially since we all knew Both of them were Democrats! What could possibly go wrong!

In some kind of convoluted way, President Trump has allowed us to understand just how corrupt D.C. really is. Never really understood it before. Guessed that some were corrupt, but figured most of them were there to take care of the country's business, not their own. Now I believe they're all corrupt and the fear that Trump might expose more of it - indirectly - is the true reason they don't want him back in office.

#12, agreed. It's easy for people to sit behind their keyboards and blame Trump for not doing enough, for trusting the wrong people, etc. But there was no way he could have known the full depth of the swamp, or how few who call themselves Republicans or Conservatives, actually are. He's a man of vision and action, but he's not omniscient or omnipotent.

Not surprised that Kushner was a problem. Makes me wonder what Ivanka’s response was to all this drama. Frankly, I didn’t trust either of them. Eric and Lara always seemed to me to be more aligned with President Trump. I have always liked Peter Navarro. He is a straight shooter and I believe he was loyal to the President.

#18, Navarro knows the cheating is the real real reason, but he has to expose the inside moles too.
