DETROIT — Dodge will discontinue its gas-powered Challenger and Charger muscle cars at the end of next year, marking the end of an era for the brand as it starts to transition to electric vehicles. Since being resurrected in the mid- to late 2000s, the Charger and Challenger — names made popular in the 1960s and 1970s — have been stalwarts for Dodge and popular vehicles for a new generation of gearheads. (Snip) Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has alluded to the possibility that the Charger and Challenger names could be used for future electrified vehicles, including a forthcoming electric muscle car in 2024

"Defund the police" supporter Rep. Ilhan Omar's city is experiencing a sharp increase in most crimes, data shows. The spike comes just one year after she backed a failed campaign to dismantle and replace the Minneapolis Police Department. (Snip) "Minneapolis is a case study in what happens when municipal leaders decide to demonize the police and criminal justice system for their political advantage," Charles Fain Lehman, a Manhattan Institute fellow who works on the group's policing and public safety initiative, told Fox News Digital. "As in many other big cities, homicides and other violence spiked in the city following the

NEW YORK -- If you thought New York City rent couldn't go any higher, it has. The average monthly rent in Manhattan has hit a record $5,000 a month, and renters are struggling to pay it. CBS2's Natalie Duddridge bumped into Mike Dias just as he was rushing to see an apartment in Hell's Kitchen to beat the other bidders. "It's crazy right now, insane," he said. "We're trying to stay under $4k, hopefully." One couple who just moved from the West Coast to New York says they are priced out of one bedrooms, so they're looking at studios, and even

It’s hard to decide what is more outrageous: Nicaragua’s dictator Daniel Ortega’s decision to shut down seven Roman Catholic Church radio stations and hold a bishop and his aides under house arrest, or Pope Francis’ total silence about these attacks on his own people. Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, closed down the Roman Catholic radio stations on Aug. 1. They were run by the Diocese of Matagalpa, a northern Nicaragua department whose bishop, Rolando Alvarez, is a frequent critic of the ruling couple’s human-rights abuses. Hours after the radio stations’ shutdown, Ortega’s police broke into the Divine

ALBANY — New York has amended several state laws to remove the word “inmate” and replace it with “incarcerated person” to refer to people serving prison time. The changes, signed into law Monday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, are intended to reduce the stigma of being in jail. Prison reform advocates have said the term “inmate” has a dehumanizing effect. Prisoners say it can feel degrading when jail guards refer to them as inmates, especially in front of their families during in-person visits. “Language matters,” said state Sen. Gustavo Rivera, a Bronx Democrat who sponsored the bill. “This is another concrete

RICHMOND, Va. — A Virginia author’s investigative effort to uncover the origins of a racist photo on Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook page has ended inconclusively, according to the author, who has written a book that offers new details about the 2019 scandal and the former governor’s remarkable political survival. “Of course, I would like to have determined exactly who was in the photograph. And I gave that my best effort,” Margaret Edds, a retired journalist and the author of “What the Eyes Can’t See,” told The Associated Press ahead of the book’s November publication. Although Edds — like journalists

The Labor Department released the inflation report Wednesday and while any fair-minded person can tell the economy is far from looking up, President Joe Biden has well and truly embraced Orwellian dystopian doublethink and, instead of saying “2+2=5,” declared 8.5 equals zero. While holding a ceremony Wednesday to sign the PACT Act that, in part, addresses the healthcare needs of veterans who suffered illness or injury from exposure to burn pits, Biden attempted to draw a win on the consumer price index (CPI) coming in at 8.5 percent for the month of July. That number was indeed a drop from

Georgia's Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has tested positive for COVID-19. "This morning I took my daily COVID test and tested positive for COVID-19," she tweeted on Wednesday. "Before my speech yesterday, I tested negative. Today I’m experiencing mild symptoms, and I’m grateful to have been vaccinated and boosted." Abrams said she would be spending the next few days at home, and taking meetings using Zoom and her phone. "I look forward to getting back on the road and meeting folks across Georgia soon," she said.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) was projected to win her primary in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, setting up a likely third term in the House for a progressive member who has proven to be a GOP lightning rod since entering Congress. NBC and CNN both called the race shortly before 11:30 p.m. EDT. The race proved unexpectedly close, however, with her Democratic opponent Don Samuels trailing her by only a few percentage points. A member of the “Squad,” a progressive group of Democrats in the House, Omar became the first Somali-American to be elected to Congress in 2018, in addition to

Twenty-eight civil rights and health care groups announced Tuesday they have requested that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) address “dietary racism” in national school lunch programs, raising concerns to the federal agency about forcing millions of minority children to drink cow’s milk without allowing them a healthier alternative. (Snip) “If Black lives matter, so does our health and nutrition, but the National School Lunch Program has consistently failed children of color,” said Milton Mills, a Washington, D.C., urgent care physician who has researched the topic, in a statement. “Either schoolchildren drink the milk they’re given and suffer in class

President Joe Biden's Tuesday remarks at a signing ceremony for the CHIPS and Science Act were punctuated by extremely heavy, repeated coughing. The speech marked Biden's second public appearance since returning to normal work following a two-week COVID-19 isolation. The president's physician, Kevin O'Connor, informed reporters that Biden had developed a "loose cough" during his rebound infection, although the symptoms dissipated throughout the week. (Tweet) The cough persisted throughout Biden's remarks and eventually forced him to blow his nose and repeatedly take sips of water from a glass at the podium. "Excuse me," the president said during one such outburst.
