An elderly convenience store owner in California is being hailed as a hero after he shot at a would-be robber who ran out of the store screaming his arm was “shot off.”
Shocking surveillance footage from Norco Market & Liquor at the 2800 block of Clark Avenue in Norco, Calif., showed a masked assailant entering the business at about 2:47 a.m. with an AR-15-style rifle pointed at the 80-year-old store owner.
The suspect yelled, “Freeze, hands in the air,” but within seconds, the quick-thinking store owner pulled out his own rifle from under the counter and immediately shot once at the robber, hitting him in the arm.

We are the first responders. The police write up the reports. The most important and operative phrase in the 2nd Amendment is, "...being necessary to the security of a free state..." An armed society is a polite society.

The article says the store owner suffered a heart attack right after the shooting. He is expected to recover.
The perps should be required to pay all medical costs connected to this crime. But the smart money says all four of these losers have a negative net worth.

Good shooting by the store owner. If the robber shot in the arm loses his arm, good. Too bad he won't lose both arms. With the increase in armed robberies since 2020 and the general lack of punishment for these violent criminals, weary American citizens would like to see more of these perps shot down in the act. And if they show up with sledge hammers and start breaking windows of retail establishments, they should be shot down two dimensional.
A policeman friend once told me what #1 states, which is that the cops will not be there when you're attacked. Your first (and maybe only) line of defense is yourself. No one is coming to save you.

Since a .556 causes flesh to 'vaporize' per some idiot democrap, did the guys arm explode?? Asking for a friend...and nice shooting although a rifle under the counter does seem a bit extreme..and since it's Kalifornication will he be charged and jailed???

Looked like a shotgun to me, a prefect choice for the circumstances. I want to know what size shot he used.

Perps should have both arms shot off and everyone should refuse to open doors for them. But HEY! That's just me................

Looked like a 12 gauge pump shotgun with a full length magazine in the video....known as "riot guns" or "police shotguns" by many. Reporters can't get anything right about guns, such ignorance.
If he was using buckshot, which is pretty standard, that arm will likely never be of any use to the perp again.
Excellent response, but too bad he didn't get a centered hit and permanently solve the perp's problems.
Hope the owner will be OK from his heart problems. And the thugs might be stupid enough to come back, he should be on alert.

Looks like an Over/Under...bird gun, skeet gun... still a take'm off the street gun.
Solved a handfull of crimes with one shot...The robbery, the BMW theft, the robberies/burglaries where the perps guns were stolen. I would hazard a guess there were multiple parole/probation violations as well.
Even better...Cite them for parking in a Handicapped spot too.

Agreed that most news reporters know absolutely nothing about firearms. Their reporting is all colored by fear and prejudice, and by the personification of guns into objects with self-agency and malevolent will.
As others have pointed out, the convenience shop owner had a pump shotgun, at close range perhaps the most devastating weapon of all, especially loaded with buckshot. Double-aught buck fires nine 33 caliber balls at about 1,400 fps, capable of turning body parts into shredded carnage, forever after useless to the shootee. If you didn't see and hear the video, that armed robber was howling in agony as ran back to the car. He won't get over that one! For sure, it left an impression on his arm. Now he gets to regret his career choices in leisure. Maybe he can get employment in a Nassau casino as a one-armed bandit. Way to hang, ace. And may the store owner, a decent human being who had no desire to shoot anyone but was forced to, recover from his heart attack the following day.
