The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday moved a bill banning assault weapons forward but it’s unclear if the legislation has enough support to pass a floor vote.
Democratic Reps. Jared Golden, D-Maine, and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas have said they won’t support the bill while Republican Reps. Chris Jacobs, R-N.Y., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., have said they are open to voting for a ban, according to The Hill. House Democrats have a four-vote margin.
The Assault Weapons Ban of 2021 was advanced in a 25-18 vote but a date for a vote on the House floor has not been set.

They may have trouble passing this in the House, and the Senate will be much harder.
This is NOT popular in most of the country.

My rifles are none of Humpty Dumpty Nadler's business, but I can assure you they aren't "in the streets". I will not comply with his communist BS. Why do they keep electing these unamrican dirt bags?

Couldn't every gun be called an 'Assault' weapon?

What if the manufacture, sales and marketing are only in one state. Would that be exempt from the intrastate commerce clause of the Loose guidelines call ed the Constitution? Filmore v Wiilard allowed congress to have unlimited power to destroy America. Perhaps the Supreme Joke would revisit Fillmore and reverse it. That would so screw the fascist if that miracle occurred.

They had one in place for ten years, and it had zero impact on crime. Fortunately, the only way they could get it passed was to include a 'sunset clause'. After ten years, the law had to be re-authorized, and with no benefits seen, there was no support to re-authorize and the bill was gone.
It is a stupid idea, and unconstitutional, too.

So, the second amendment doesn't apply to "arms" that look scary to Democrats? They think the Supreme Court will find that scribbled in the margin of the Constitution somewhere? I've never owned an AR15, but I really enjoyed the years I spent shooting an M16A1. Democrats accomplished what all the advertising failed to do; convince me to go buy one (while I can).

Look up Merriam-Websters definition of assault. Under the law part it references raised FISTS as an assault capability. So we have to add fists to their list……

The Gun at the time was a Musket. Everyone Had one...
Now the Gun the Military has full Automatic 'Assault Rifles', to comply with the intent of the 2nd Amendment Citizens need the same. Next Question..............

Why does even the conservative media keep referring to ‘assault weapons’? This is a phrase the liberals made up. There is no such thing.

And it's been decades since a far more liberal court ruled such a ban, unconstitutional.

FTA: The bill would make it a crime to "import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) or large capacity ammunition feeding device," according to the bill’s summary.
Isn't that about every semi auto made? There is no definition of an 'assault weapon', or large capacity 'feeding device'. It's whatever they want it to be.

The article states that the proposed “ban” makes it a crime to “possess” what they subjectively define as an assault weapon. Even during prohibition, it was not a crime to possess intoxicating alcohol. This appears to be an ex post facto law, which the Constitution specifically bans the Legislative Branch from enacting (Article 1, Section 10). That, combined with the 2nd Amendment makes it unlikely the proposed law banning possession will be enforced. If enacted by Congress and signed into law, the people should not only resist but conduct citizen impeachments against All of those those who knowingly and willfully (because they are special) violate their oath to support the Constitution.

What the Democrats have been calling “assault weapons” are nothing more than semiautomatic firearms, handguns, rifles, and shotguns. A semi-automatic firearm fires one shot every time the human operating the firearm squeezes the trigger. Semi-automatic firearms are not military grade automatic weapons that are also called machine guns. Almost all modern defensive firearms today are semi-automatic firearms. So what does what the Democrats and a couple of RINOS are intent on doing telling us?

This proposal would make every semi-auto pistol using a 10+round magazine illegal. The size of the actual magazine is pointless since the law addresses the possibility to use a "high-capacity magazine." Even if one round is loaded, the pistol will still be illegal.
