She’s all washed up — and it’s a heartbreak for the city.
Beware of false assurances from city officials, scrambling to save face — I don’t expect the Central Park Boathouse to come back to life any time soon after the restaurant shuts its doors in October.
“It is our intention to engage a future operator as soon as possible,” Parks Department officials said on Friday, after current manager Dean J. Poll announced he was shutting things down.
Poll, the Long Island-born restaurateur notable for rescuing Gallagher’s Steakhouse from closure back in 2013, blamed skyrocketing, inflation-driven food prices,

Former First Lady Melania Trump is slamming her former chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, for claiming Trump did not want to speak out against the violence unfolding at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 and, in fact, says Grisham is guilty of “dereliction of duty” for not informing her boss about the event. (Tweet) The first lady defended her duties on January 6 in a statement posted on social media:
On January 6 2021, I was fulfilling one of my duties as First Lady, the United States of America. And accordingly, I was unaware of what was simultaneously transpiring at the US Capitol building.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican, said this week that cities that do not enforce the state’s pro-life abortion laws will have their funding withheld.
Landry’s announcement came as a judge blocked the state’s abortion trigger law once again. The law, as Townhall covered, bans most abortions. The law has been blocked before as abortion providers and advocates challenge it in court. Gov. John Bel Edwards, who is a pro-life Democrat, supports the legislation. If the law goes back into effect, officials in New Orleans have said they will not enforce it.

A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Biden administration’s Title IX guidance on gender identity and sexual orientation.
U.S. District Judge Charles Atchley in the Eastern District of Tennessee ruled last week that the administration’s guidance misquoted the Supreme Court to equate sex and gender identity, likely violating federal law.
The administration’s guidance effectively forced states to allow biological males to use girls restrooms, forbade states from barring males from participating in female sports, and forced employers

In what’s now the one positive announcement of Biden’s year and a half or so in office, the White House recently announced that the president, who’s gotten all the jabs and boosters, has received a positive Covid test.
Capitalizing on that announcement, Republicans like Tucker Carlson used the announcement as an opportunity to mock and poke fun at Biden.
Tucker Carlson, for instance mocked Biden for his “sniffing” behavior and noted that the diagnosis comes at a very convenient time for Slow Joe, saying:
So, if you’re on Air Force One yesterday or you went to a big press conference in Massachusetts or

New York Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul's campaign sent an email about upcoming campaign events being held by Lee Zeldin, her Republican challenger in the New York gubernatorial race, prior to a man's attempted attack on him while he was speaking Thursday evening.
