The city Department of Health said Wednesday it was poised to offer thousands of new monkeypox vaccination slots, just hours after it received a new shipment of the much-sought inoculation from the feds. New Yorkers seemed ready to snap them up, too, as they quickly grabbed appointments that were posted prematurely Wednesday due to an online glitch in just minutes.(Snip)The second monkeypox vaccine delivery—which arrived Tuesday and netted almost 6,000 new doses—comes as officials at DOHMH battle a wave of recent cases amid recent LGBT Pride celebrations, which concluded at the end of June.(Snip)“Anyone can get and spread monkeypox,” the Health Department said

A hard-working Manhattan bodega clerk who was forced to grab a knife to fend off a violent ex-con, now finds himself sitting behind bars at the notorious Rikers Island jail charged with murder and unable to post $250,000 bail. The sky-high bail for Jose Alba—who has no known criminal history—was just half of what controversial Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office demanded, despite surveillance video showing the clerk being assaulted by his alleged victim in the bodega. Alba, 51, was charged with the fatal stabbing of Austin Simon, 34, who can be seen storming behind the counter at the Hamilton Heights Grocery on Broadway

President Biden took aim at the opposing party Wednesday by falsely claiming that Republicans—rather than members of his own party—are preventing Congress from implementing his proposed federal gas tax holiday to blunt fuel costs. “All Republicans do nothing [and] obstruct our efforts to lower your gas taxes,” Mr. Biden said in Cleveland, Ohio, during remarks about the economy and employer pension plans.(Snip)Rep. Peter DeFazio, Oregon Democrat and chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, has been one of the most outspoken critics of a gas tax holiday. He described it as “well-intentioned but ill-conceived policy” when Mr. Biden first advocated for one in late June.

The mysterious Georgia Guidestones have sustained significant damage after residents reported hearing a thunderous explosion near their location. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) told reporters that preliminary information suggests someone used an explosive device to damage the pillars. The Elbert County Sheriff's Office is working with the GBI to investigate the attack on the structure.
The guidestones—sometimes called America's Stonehenge for their appearance after being erected in 1980—consists of six granite slabs, with an inscription carved in eight different languages across the slabs.(Snip)Those recommendations include items like "maintain humanity under 500m in perpetual balance with nature" and "unite humanity with a living new language."

Joe Biden has shipped five million barrels from the United States' Strategic Oil Reserve abroad, after claiming that releasing them would help ease Americans' pain at the pumps. The president faces accusations of a sneaky sleight of hand as it was revealed that between a fifth and a sixth of the reserve oil he bragged about releasing to boost supply made its way offshore to Europe and Asia in June. Biden authorized the release of a million barrels a day from April onwards.(Snip)Biden's announcement about releasing the oil barrels was made in April, and saw him say: 'These releases will put more than one million barrels per day

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had such expensive tastes that he demanded gifts in the form of cigars to dip into Cointreau liqueur, a Jerusalem court heard today. Netanyahu is undergoing a blockbuster corruption trial on charges of fraud and breach of trust for allegedly accepting luxury gifts from billionaires Arnon Milchan and James Packer worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, advancing the former's various interests in return.(Snip)'If I'd give three bottles of champagne, [Sara would] complain, 'Why only three?" she added. A violent mob can be seen on video attacking an Illinois state trooper in Chicago—pelting his squad car with firecrackers and smashing the windshield. The group was engaging in “reckless driving stunts” off Interstate 90 on Sunday afternoon when the trooper drove through the intersection and was attacked, according to a police spokesman. Nearly 100 people descended on the vehicle, throwing rocks and bricks and jumping on the hood. The first attacker, wearing a tank top, jumps on the hood and appears to go onto the roof. “Chicago, we got a mob–he just jumped on my car,” the exasperated trooper is heard saying over the police radio.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday participated in an event featuring a critical spelling error on the stage backdrop. The vice president walked on stage smiling and waving at the Essence Festival in New Orleans where she participated in an interview with actress Keke Palmer. But behind the vice president, the text mistakenly read “Lousiana” instead of Louisiana. It is unclear who is responsible for the spelling error. However, the vice president’s advance staff should have caught the obvious mistake before Harris went on stage. It’s the latest example of how Harris and her staff struggle with bad optics as they try to improve her political performance on the national

Highland Park shooter Bobby Crimo was questioned by police twice in 2019 including once after threatening to 'kill everyone' and another after he threatened suicide, but was never arrested. Crimo is now in custody awaiting charges for the massacre yesterday. Police at first said he was not known to them but on Tuesday, they revealed he was interviewed twice by authorities. The first was in April 2019 a week after he threatened to kill himself. The second was in September 2019, after he threatened to 'kill everyone' in his family. Twelve police officers were injured after they were hit with glass bottles and fireworks early Tuesday morning. San Francisco Police told DailyMail.com that officers from Mission Station were called to the intersection of 24th and Harrison Streets at around 12.40am regarding a large crowd and a fire. Officers on the scene then declared the gathering an 'unlawful assembly,' and asked the crowd to disperse. One of Mayor Eric Adams’ aides was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning while scouting a location in Brooklyn ahead of a planned visit by Hizzoner, law enforcement sources told The Post. The aide, a civilian member of Adams’ advance team, was mugged by two men who approached him near the intersection of Navy and Sands streets around 10:30 a.m., sources said. The crooks demanded his wallet and cellphone, and pushed him to the ground when he refused to hand them over, sources said. The robbers then grabbed the items and fled, with one—described as a black male wearing a blue and white sweatshirt—making his getaway on a Citi Bike

Incomplete reporting. Was the aide checking out a nightclub, a hot new restaurant, a nail salon, a haberdashery, what? Also, City Bikes now cause crime, and should be banned, especially when ridden by black men like the two who committed this crime.
