Federal agents raided three churches, one in Texas and two in Georgia, on Thursday.
All of the churches are near military bases and have been accused of being cults.
In Texas, federal agents raided the Assembly of Prayer Christian Church in Killeen.
“I can confirm the FBI was executing court authorized law enforcement activity today in the vicinity of the intersection of Massey St. and E. Rancier Ave., in Killeen, Texas. No additional information will be released at this time,” FBI Special Agent Carmen Portillo said in a statement to local station KWTX.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no federal law against cults. There is, in fact, a Constitutional Amendment protecting religions. Absent objective fraud or assault, it's not a government matter. Certainly not a federal matter. My guess is the "cult" is a boy scout troop or 4-H club.

After the slaughter of the Branch Davidians (who were certainly weirdos) at the hands of the Clintons and the FBI, I view all of this with great skepticism.

this is, pn its face, deeply concerning. Being in, starting, joining or protesting against a cult are all legally protected activities. there better be very good reason for the feds to raid a church/ Ask yourself what significant hurdles law enforcement would have to jump in order to search a Mosque. Rumours of terrorist activity or fundamentalist leanings would not be enough to issue that particulat warrant. You would probably need photographic evidence of a Boom Boom factory to get a warrant to enter a Mosque. ANd rightly so, the socalled separation of church and state (I know I know) works both ways.
Hopefully new information comes out but right now I (based on no facts whatsoever) fear that they were targeted because the "Greatest Threat to American Democracy TM" are current and former members of the military and somebody in town on a code pink vigil overheard a MAGA comment in a diner.

Why you can't depend on the federal government to protect you anymore.
They have the time and manpower to raid three churches because they "may" do something in the future.
But they don't have the time or manpower to raid the "Jane's Revenge" group, who has been doing violent acts of domestic terrorism these past few weeks and swear to do much more in the future!!!!!!

January 20, 2025 President Trump declares FBI and DOJ shutdown effective immediately. All employees are FIRED ASAP because they serve no purposes other than political prisoner arrests. We will survive; direct Military to assume duties until new personnel are put in place. Start interviewing personnel now and replace ASAP and replace with contractor personnel until official, vetted government people are put in place!

Climate change is a cult, and so is the Democrat Party. BTW, it is ok for Democrats to raise money, why not churches and cults?

FTA: “The concern is that he has made us merchandise. It’s no longer a church. It’s just a fraudulent, money-making empire. It used to be a church,” former church member Jenessa Wright told WTOC.
The Assembly of Prayer Church has been accused by former members of being a cult and, more specifically, targeting military members to join. It is near Fort Gordon.

Welcome to the state of Christianity in America today. Passing the Plate is now a crime worthy of calling the FBI? And because "dozens" of whiney millenials take to Google and Facebook and SAY it's a "cult" because soldiers join the church, it MUST be a cult! Call Brandon!
So now will the FBI make every church near a military base "pass muster" for acceptability? I seem to remember that the Constitution guarantees the RIGHT of an individual to practice his/her religion, even if it is considered by some to be a "cult."
This raid is WRONG on so many levels it's amazing.

What part of the 1st amendment do these morons not understand? Freedom to practice our religion is just that. FREEDOM. It doesn't say anywhere that the FBI has the right to decide or define what constitutes a religion. Unless you have absolute proof there is illegal activity going on, the FBI needs to back off and stop harassing Christians. Given these churches are close to military bases, I am also suspicious about that motivation as well.

Cult? Like making women travel in groups wearing a big, black bag over their entire body, no matter what? Stopping whatever you are doing and facing east 5 times a day to pray to a murdering thief, that sort of cult?

My retired FBI investigator friend agreed with me this evening when I said "The FBI leadership looks more and more like the KGB these days", and he said in sad commentary, "And they choose all the local SACs." (Special Agents in Charge). He commented about a topic that related to the FBI arresting criminals, with "yeah, that was back in the old days when we arrested criminals, no politicians."

There must be more to the story than what's being reported. "The FBI raided churches in two states for selling merchandise" simply does not. add. up.
This is yet another data point that there is something going very wrong at the DOJ and FBI.

So as churches burn and leftist run rampant on them, interrupting masses, burning crisis pregnancy centers, firebombing pro-life activist organizations, decapitating and desecrating sacred objects, the FBI has now decided that cults in little storefront churches are a problem.

Ya'll better gird up your loins (Proverbs 31:17). This is war (spiritual).... a battle of good against evil in these Last Days.
Never in my life would I have imagined that the FBI would violate the First Amendment or that they were lawless. Oh for the Days of Jimmy Cagney where he was an Agent fighting the criminals in the movies. And the good guys were the Feds and the bad guys were the crooks. Sigh..

Funny how they’re called cults on the right but communes on the left. Different connotations apply to each. One is sinister, one is “peace-loving.”

Maybe its a weird church, maybe its not. But being weird is not a Federal reason for a raid. Could it be that they don't want fundamental Christianity taught to the nearby soldiers?
A real cult I would say is Planned Parenthood. Their members don't allow, and bomb opposing views apparently..

Looks like the gooberment is looking for a reason to shut down the church...like in Waco when they decided David Koresh had guns on his property...so they trumped up a charge and the ATF assaulted the compound and killed it's followers...perhaps a pay back for the newly elected republican congresswoman who won a difficult district...after it being a democrat stronghold for over 100 years...is this church in her district...just wondering...

What? Did they find out that they are conservatives? and even if they were some kind of weird cult, since when is that in and of itself an actual crime?
Even if you aren't religious, this is scary. How long before they declare that voting for Trump to be a cult, and worthy of a SWAT team raid.
