On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Senior Adviser to President Joe Biden Gene Sperling said that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s comments that high inflation pre-dates Russia’s invasion of Ukraine don’t contradict President Joe Biden’s rhetoric and “the reason we’ve seen the gas price rise, both here and really around the world, is due to Putin.”
Sperling responded to Powell’s comments by saying, “Jake, that is clearly correct, and that is not contradictory with anything this president said.”

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) argued that the Senate gun legislation “paves the way in the future to look at” other gun control provisions.
Host Anderson Cooper asked, “Well, there [are] probably a lot of people who wanted this to — obviously, you said you wanted this to go farther in terms of gun safety or gun control. What do you say to those who say that this doesn’t go far enough and that this may make it harder to try to get further changes in the future?”
Klobuchar responded, “We have worked on this for decades.

In this excerpt from the just-published “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words” by Michael Pack and Mark Paoletta, the Supreme Court justice reflects on changes in his hometown, Savannah, Ga. The book is based on more than 30 hours of interviews Pack conducted with Thomas and his wife Ginni for the film of the same name; 95% of the book’s material is new, including this excerpt.
Michael Pack: You have talked a little today about how life in the black community has not been improved by many well-intentioned social programs. Do you think, in some sense, it is worse than when you grew up?

Field biologists discovered an 18-foot invasive Burmese python weighing 215 pounds in the Florida Everglades.

The snake, the largest ever discovered in Florida, was captured using a male scout snake with a GPS tracker attached to it, the outlet continued. CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin ignored recent examples of progressive violence when he went on "At This Hour With Kate Bolduan" on Wednesday to condemn "the pervasiveness of right-wing violence."
Toobin appeared on a panel discussing the ongoing Jan. 6 hearings and potential connections to former President Donald Trump. In the latest hearing by the Jan. 6 Committee on Tuesday, state officials testified that they received several threats and attacks from people after refusing to overturn the 2020 election results.
Toobin argued those threats were further proof that "right-wing violence" is now pervasive throughout the country.

Figures on liberal media networks CNN, NBC and MSNBC have pushed the narrative that Republicans do not deserve equal coverage alongside their Democratic counterparts, often claiming Republicans stand for anti-Democratic values and are more likely to push falsehoods.
On MSNBC's "The ReidOut" Monday night, Joy Reid and her guest, left-wing political analyst Mathew Dowd, suggested the media were too neutral in their reporting on the Republican Party, and thus needed to ramp up the hostility. She added that both sides were "not the same," and also urged fellow reporters to "tell voters" the GOP was a "threat" to freedom.

A top investigator for the House Jan. 6 committee is reportedly departing from his role this week, earlier than anticipated.
John Wood, a senior investigative counsel on the committee, confirmed his departure to CNN, but he declined to elaborate on why he was moving on from the role as rumors swirl that he has been encouraged to run for the open Senate seat in Missouri.
Wood's exit comes as the committee is in the thick of public hearings about the Capitol riot and the coinciding efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. The panel held its fourth public hearing on Tuesday, focusing on how former President Donald Trump and his allies pressured

Former President Trump suggested the Supreme Court look to the journalists at Politico who broke the bombshell story last month that a draft opinion penned by Justice Samuel Alito would overturn Roe v. Wade, to find who leaked the document.
The story, written by reporters Josh Gerstein and Alexander Ward, hinged on a leaked draft ruling from the court that sent shockwaves across the political and media landscape. The draft outlined the conservative majority’s decision to overturn Roe, a landmark case that ruled abortion was constitutional.
