Before we even knew how the killer of 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, had obtained his guns, Sen. Chris Murphy was engaging in his customary performative emotionalism on the Senate floor, literally begging Republicans to “compromise.”
Compromise on what exactly? Murphy has never once offered a single proposal that would have deterred any of these mass shooters. Literally minutes after his routine, Murphy was asked about the obvious mental illness prevalent among most of these shooters. “Spare me the bulls— about mental illness,” the Connecticut senator responded, “ripping” the GOP. “We don’t have any more mental illness than any other country in the world.”

Hey Chris According to a couple of British reporters who sandbagged Sen Cruz - we're the only country with these mass shootings. But thankfully we don't have to worry about our children away at boarding school in places like Nigeria where they face the fear of being attacked by Boko Haram, the girls raped and converted to Islam.

This guy is one of the bigger shallow-thinking idiots in the democrat party. His screw is one of the looser ones than those inhabiting the brains of the rest of the party.

Bloody shirt-waving is a staple of politics, especially when trying to spur public response. Remember the Alamo? Remember the Maine? Remember Pearl Harbor? Remember 9-11? There are any number of "Remembers" to go with "Never Forget." Their use was and is to provoke a visceral response supportive of action, whether war or some controlling legislation because "Never Again" must this happen.
The response this time is from the demands for hundreds of thousands or armed guards in schools to arming teachers to arming the general public...to gun confiscation, gun control, gun denial...to hardening schools at public expense.
The worst decade for "shootings" in American schools was the 2010s, with 210 recorded. There were just around 96,000 K-12 public schools then. Those shootings included suicides and adults squaring accounts. The odds in any given year of a school mass shooting were greater than those for being hit by lightning. It's awful, evil, and abhorrent that children should be victims, but there is perspective.
In the case of Uvalde, this carnage may have been stopped or mitigated by simply locking an outside door. The SRO guardian was not involved, perhaps not even around. The police failed to respond, huddling in a parking lot while children were massacred, except a few going to save their own. And the BP tac agent, summoned by his teacher-wife, was apparently acting on his own with a shotgun to bring an end to the siege. How many more police need be hired to ensure public safety?

He is wrong on many fronts. First, The US has the highest level of drugged up kids in the world. Is Joey a litttle rambunctious? Ritalin him up so the teacher isn't bothered.
Second, and this is the most interesting, the US is NOT the mass shooting capitol of the western world. Of the 56 firstworld counties in Europe and Asia on a per capita basis (the only real way you can objectively compare Luxembourgh to say India)the US is not even in the top 10. Finland and Sweden are higher than the US. A wideley circulated study tries to claim that the US is by far the highest but they only used english language reports to identify mass shootings. Oddly enough very few German, Finnish, Polish, French Taiwanese or Italian police reports are written in English. Once foreign language sources are included the picture changes pretty significantly.

Murphy, whose entire STATE would fit within the Houston metro area...needs to be asked:
"What was the gun type that was used to STOP the mass murdering psychopath?" Would it perhaps have been better to have one of those shot into his face earlier than an hour after he began killing children?
The US Govt at every level has spent $BILLIONS to study precisely the best weapons platform is to be used against such criminals..has reached decisions about that, they are universally brought to the scene by the cops when they finally arrive...and they are the very weapons types YOU want to ban. You are demanding that exactly what the Govt has already decided is needed be kept away from the very place where they are needed.
That is like saying there should be NO fire extinguishers in a school(or in a home), that deploying one is beyond the capacity/capability of school staff/average citizens to comprehend or safely use...they MUST wait for trained/professional firefighters to bring them.

All one need do to prove (or disprove) there is more mental illness among teens in the United States is to compare the number of prescriptions for ADD, ADHD, depression, bi-polar and schizophrenia being given to those between 12 and 21.
There. That proves it or disproves it beyond any reasonable doubt.

"Bluto" Blutarski: "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!" Bluto was a joke. The deluge of lies from the Marxist Left is no joke, and is preliminary to a grab at total control over Americans' lives, over every aspect, if possible. Same as many American children who were educated in the '60s and '70s, we read Orwell (Animal Farm and 1984) in high school. Just recently, I downloaded both of those to the Kindle. It's time to revisit Eric Blair aka George Orwell.
On a more serious note, Harsanyi writes: "(L)aw-abiding Americans have no obligation to take ownership of a madman’s actions." No, we don't. And we won't. We will not surrender our God given natural rights, codified in the Unites States Constitution's Bill of Rights. Perhaps the most essential right of all is the right to defend our lives against any entity that would try, for whatever reason, to murder us.

During the speech he said "I am begging you, on my knees, I am on my KNEES..." while STANDING behind the rostrum. Never got to his knees, because...he knew the CSpan cameras are fixed, he would have dropped out of frame, and the entire thing was staged for later TV coverage.
Gotta ask...IF 100 cops cannot get ONE of these guns away from an 18yo that has NEVER fired one before, while armed with the very same weapons themselves...how many does he think it will take to confiscate 100Million of them from people that know how to use them as well or better than the cops do? Barricaded not in a classroom, but within their own homes? Castles?

Murphy is a leftist nutjob. The Dems and the Deep State want us disarmed so that we cannot contest their totalitarian takeover that they are planning. THAT is what's really going on.
Of the top school shootings in the world, a terrible list to even be on, the worst US case comes in at 13th place, with the others in Sri Lanka, Russia, Malaysia, Bagladesh, etc. And most of those places have really serious 'gun control' and yet, people got guns and slaughtered dozens to literally thousands of children in schools.

Maybe not...but these crazed mass shooters certainly had more "Mental Illness" than anyone else in their towns...there were/are literally hundreds if not thousands of the same firearms in those towns...NONE of which have been used in this way by anyone else..

We haven't seen anything yet. Joe and his gang of misfits have drawn blood with inflation and gas prices so now is the time to hit hard on gun control. This had better be the hill we die on or the evil plans will all go through easily on the rest of it.

I will stand by what I have always said. Guns do not kill, people do. We have cities and states with strict gun laws that really have done nothing to stop such violence. Take the guns away and the government stops fearing the people. Not a good place to be. This is really the end game of the liberals. They use school shootings as a front for their true intentions of ridding us of our right to have arms. The liberals have been against armed officers in schools, arming teachers, and pushed the ideas that throwing erasers, books and chairs would be an acceptable deterrent to a shooter when in actuality such an action would do nothing but make a person a target. I am sure the adults and probably many children in such a situation would not wish for another eraser, book, or chair to throw but wish for a gun. Allowing teachers to be armed is only part of the solution, not the total solution but is a good last-ditch effort that could save lives, One that is far better than throwing an eraser! Liberals have said children seeing adults carrying guns in school would have a bad psychological impact on children. I beg to differ. I think it could make them feel safe and make schools less likely a soft target.

No doubt we must curb the crime levels in the U.S. But even as they are, guns have killed far less people here than in China and the USSR where they achieved total gun control.

I don't believe more gun laws will help. That said, if I owned a gun store or franchise, I would implement the following policy. I would not sell a long gun or pistol to anyone under the age of 25 unless they could prove the following:
1. Honorable discharge from military service
2. No criminal record including drug offenses
3. Completion of high school or GED
If they did not meet these requirements, they could only purchase a firearm if they had an older male relative co-sign for the purchase and take legal responsibility for any consequences from its misuse. The co-signer also had to provide proof that they own a combination gun safe and trigger lock and that the weapon will be stored in the safe unless they authorize its release to the young purchaser.
I would base my policy on my religious beliefs (6th commandment) to avoid any legal challenges. Use of a deadly weapon for purposes other than self-defense (preserving human life) or hunting (sustaining human life) is immoral.
