Charges have been dropped against the teenage rapper accused of shooting an NYPD officer during a scuffle in the Bronx earlier this year, officials confirmed. The gun and assault case against Camrin Williams, a 16-year-old reputed gangbanger and rapper who goes by the stage name C Blu, “cannot be prosecuted,” the city Law Department said in a Friday statement, without elaborating. Williams had been facing the charges after allegedly shooting 27-year-old cop Kaseem Pennant in the leg in January while he was on probation for a prior gun case.(Snip)One week after he made bail, Williams was hauled back into juvenile court for violating his probation.

There are no guarantees in life, yet we still have expectations. We expect our elected leaders to behave selflessly so they can keep the American people in mind first. But when politicians ignore our humanity in pursuit of their own agenda, the American people tend to suffer the consequences, even with their lives.(Snip)As the homicide rate increased by 30% across the board, demographically, the homicide rate for black Americans increased by a dramatic 34%, higher than any other racial demographic. White Americans saw a 19% increase and Hispanic Americans 7%. But, as the Manhattan Institute’s Christos Makridis and Robert VerBruggen note, “since the black homicide rate was already

A leading figure in the Biden administration has backed a recovery programme for Ukraine in the style of the Marshall plan, which helped rebuild Europe after the second world war. Pete Buttigieg, the US transportation secretary, said there was plenty of political will at home and internationally towards cooperating in long-term reconstruction efforts including to buttress existing infrastructure in Ukraine. “With the memory of the Marshall plan in mind, what we’re talking about is not only about how we fund immediate needs and support their ability to maintain the war effort, but how we support the ability of Ukraine to be economically viable and generate a sustainable future for themselves

Ahead of next week's planned end of Title 42, migrants were seen pouring in through the gaps in the U.S.-Mexico border wall and lining up to be taken in for processing in photos taken Thursday.
Title 42, the pandemic-era public health rule that restricts immigration, is set to end Monday. As of the beginning of this month, more than 1.9 million people have been expelled under Title 42 since April 2020, most of them under the Biden administration.
Border Patrol agents encountered 234,000 unlawful crossings in April, a new record high, and about 41 percent of the encounters ended in a Title 42 expulsion. Some of those crossings

We don’t see this often, but we should: Nine Brooklyn public housing developments where more than 6,000 people live will Friday celebrate rehabbed kitchens and bathrooms and windows and floors, elevators, lobbies, fire systems, community spaces, playgrounds and boiler rooms—courtesy of the federal Rental Assistance Demonstration/Permanent Affordability Commitment Together program, a mouthful that’s shorthanded as RAD-PACT. Opponents who dismiss it as unacceptable privatization should tour the overhauled facilities, then ask themselves whether their demagoguery and ideological rigidity is worth blocking progress for some of the neediest and most neglected New Yorkers. The program began a decade ago, and it lets agencies choose to get federal funding

Two Secret Service employees were shipped back to the US from South Korea this week following an alcohol-fueled confrontation with a local cab driver ahead of President Biden’s trip to the country, according to multiple reports. ABC News reported Friday that an agent and an armed physical security specialist assigned to go to Seoul to help prepare for Biden’s visit went out to dinner on a recent evening and hit multiple bars. Later that night, the pair reportedly became intoxicated and the agent got into a heated argument with the cabbie. Police were eventually called to the scene, though only one of the two workers was reportedly investigated

A furious female skateboarder has slammed Red Bull for sponsoring a contest where she placed second to her trans rival. Taylor Silverman claims she and other female competitors were disadvantaged by officials at the Red Bull Cornerstone Contest, where she placed second and received a $2,750 award. Trans skateboarder Lillian Gallagher was awarded $5,000 for placing first and winning two separate divisions—money that Silverman says should have been given to her. Silverman, who has been skateboarding for 11 years, said when she tried to reach out to officials to 'do the right thing even if it's not the popular thing,' she was ignored.

A 10-year employee of steelmaker Arconic has sued the Pittsburgh-based firm after he was fired last year for writing on an internal company web survey that the use of a rainbow to symbolize Gay Pride Month is “an abomination to God.” Daniel Snyder, 63, was employed as a lead operator at Arconic’s Davenport Works in Riverdale, Iowa, beginning in 2011. President Joe Biden kicked off his trip to Asia by meeting South Korea's new President Yoon Seok-youl in the lobby of a Samsung micro-chip facility Friday evening and taking a factory tour.
'This is an auspicious start to my visit, because it's emblematic of the future cooperation and innovation our nations can and must build together,' Biden said, delivering remarks alongside Yoon after touring two parts of the enormous Pyeongtaek facility.(Snip)
'And President Moon–Yoon–you thank you everything you've done,' Biden said. Yoon's predecessor is President Moon Jae-in.

The Biden administration is making $500 million available to school districts to transition the nation’s gas-guzzling diesel school bus fleets to zero-emission electric busses. The bucket of money is part of a broader tranche of $5 billion set aside in last year’s infrastructure spending for low and zero-emission school buses over the next five years.(Snip)They will highlight how the switch to electric buses will not only significantly slash greenhouse gas emissions, but how it will also cut down on public health risks that diesel vehicles pose to children, such as causing asthma.

A mother took it upon herself to confront a fellow mom at a Target store as she was filling up her shopping cart up with baby formula.
The entire interaction was captured on video and later posted to TikTok as one woman attempted to hold the other to account.
Although the woman’s face could not be seen, the contents of a cart were clearly visible with more than 30 bottles of baby formula stashed inside.(Snip)'Look at the shelves,' she continues, noting how they are all completely empty. 'You don't think I need it for my baby too?' The other mother responds in broken English:
